My last Disney video. Diving into the disability & wheelchair access in Disneys NewPort Bay Hotel, including the pool and room, and all the disability facilities in the Parks. Im discussing the disney disability access pass, showing the disney accessible room tour, and the disability hotel tour.
After suffering my spinal cord injury i have really had to adapt in life. So Im showing you my disability lifestyle to raise disability awareness. As a disabled woman and a woman in a wheelchair who is paralysed, I thought it would be interesting for you to see, and hopefully give you some inspiration and motivation so that you can live more independently. wether you are paraplegic or quadriplegic I hope that I can help you. The wheelsnoheels message is “so no one has to feel alone.”
I have lots of interesting disability videos, a lot of videos on how to cope with a disability and living life in a wheelchair, wether you are a girl boy woman or man. i have some paraplegic exercise videos, and advice. its important to keep your fitness levels up as much as possible as this can when physically and mentally with depression.
If you feel I have given you value today consider buying me a ko-fi, just think of it as a tip.

A lot of the time you were talking about priority at food places and shops you said "if they see you" they come and take you through. I imagine they're also great about accommodating invisible disabilities but it sounds like if you're not visibly disabled you would have to be a squeaky wheel? For example, you're right some people need to take medication with food and that would be a primary reason why they're ushering disabled guests through the food places quickly, but not everyone who urgently needs food at a particular time is using a mobility aid. Do those people have to push through the crowd enough to get an employee's attention?

Hello! Your video came recommended as I as I mainly do Disneyland Paris vlogs, and I’m SO GLAD! Thank you for showing your experience in Disneyland Paris as a wheelchair user, so well. I’m glad to see Disneyland Paris does a decent job of this system 🤗 it’s something I often get asked about on my channel, but didn’t have much knowledge on. So thank you again, and hope you had an amazing trip x

Disney is supposed to be really good with accessibility and accommodations of all kinds, from wheelchairs to food allergies. I have friends in the industry and at Disney itself, and they say accessibility is an ongoing conversation all the time. Older rides are harder to update to make accessible (as you definitely saw for yourself) but newer ones are intentionally designed to be widely accessible for all kinds of needs. People give Disney a lot of grief for being a greedy corporation, but they genuinely do care about their customers, at least in the parks

So what I'm gathering here is that they are really good at access for all general facilities but not so much for rides. It's amazing what they already have and it's already better than many other places but those rides are kind of the main reason people go to an amusement park so they should be easily accessible. I saw how much you struggled with getting into some of them and you are already on the more fit side. I can't imagine someone with a higher spinal cord injury getting into most of them.

The part where you say about having a smart drive that would definitely come handy for yourself to have especially when you're rolling at a Disney park.

I have a question? How do you know what all kinds of wheelchair, cushions, footplates or whatever you can get for your chair. I’ve only gotten my first chair a year and a half ago and there things on it I would like different but I don’t know how to see what my options are? Also would you know if anybody can get the drive assistance it’s so hard to go on uneven surfaces and long distances with hills even for upper body strength? Thank you

I have a Smart Drive and while it’s great and all, it does cause a lot of vibration because of the hard plastic little wheels on it that is directly connected to your wheelchair frame with just a lot of hard materials, so it can get pretty uncomfortable in outdoor environments. In shops and such it’s fine because of the smooth floors, but going on asphalt can get very tiring and same with those concrete slabs type pavements or heavens forbid: cobble stone! Gravel and such is an issue as well because of the poorer traction on such surfaces and rain can become an issue as well because you may lose traction on wet surfaces. The Pushtracker is a whole other Pandora’s box too as it may suddenly disconnect from the Smart Drive, and yes you do need to be prepared for it to happen even when you’re going up a ramp or something. It’s very sensitive to disturbances. I have a shopping center in the neighbor town where my Smart Drive always stops working in the parking lot between two of the larger stores and I have to turn the Pushtracker back on several times and manually propel out of that spot to get the Smart Drive to work again. With all these issues, I’m seriously contemplating to just return the Smart Drive (I live in Sweden and got the unit through our version of wheelchair services and do not own it but have it on lease that for me is free) and ask to have one of those foldable power chairs (Eloflex) instead, I’ve tried one during an expo and sit well enough in them so it would work for days where I rely on power assist for one reason or another. To me Smart Drive is just sadly too unreliable and the vibrations going into the frame of the chair is just too much at times for me as a chronic pain patient with EDS. The reason I first got the Smart Drive was because of its portability and the “as needed” function of it and it not requiring you to change anything on your chair other than adding the bit you put the unit on on your chair. Solutions like E-move or E-Drive are more permanent and a lot heavier along with it requiring you to have anti-tippers and literally the wheels as far back as they can go, and usually you can’t have a tapered chair either so that was just a no go for me in every way. I really have a love hate relationship with the Smart Drive, which is sad because it’s just such a great device if it wasn’t for the unreliability and vibrations :/

Do you know by any chance if a European Disability card would be seen as proof of disability for the priority card? Or if you really do need a note from your specialist or so? Every attraction park is so different and I know some don't use EU disability cards, so I'm curious if Disney does.
