As a CSM player am I bracing for both excitement and disappointment at the same time, its such an odd feeling

Though the DA models were fantastic!! The rules are just awful, and realistically that must have hurt sales for the Knights, inner circle champions Asmodi etc as they’re display pieces rather than good game pieces.

Seems like a Marine POV regarding the releases, it's actually exciting that smaller factions are at least confirmed to get something new this edition rather than being passed on for another Primaris Lt. Marines got their huge release at the start, multiple kits and updates and a xenos faction got a much needed update and NEW units, it's good they're focusing on army diversity than loading it all onto Marines.

When I got into this hobby, the biggest complaint from everyone was that the space marines got the majority of attention from GW. Now that they are trying to spread it even, giving every faction some attention in due time, people complain.. If they give every faction as much love as they gave the Kroot this edition, it will be considered as overselling models, people complain..

It may surprise some to know this, but in regards to new model releases, this has actually been one of the best first ~9months of a new edition of the game in a long time. Consider where things were at the point into 9th: Necrons, Marines, 1 Death Guard Character (+ a terrain piece) and a FOMO battlebox with the new Sisters Palatine and Lelith Hesperax. It wasn't until a few months later Sisters would see the beginning of their 9th ed release wave. Sure, the whole global pandemic thing didn't exactly help then, but even if you go back to 8th edition, the first year wasn't that great. Although 8th did an incredible job at releasing so many army books, most of them came with no new models at all. It was a major departure from the old practice of only releasing books that had new models to launch with them. It's important to remember that there are only so many new moulds and sprues that GW can churn out in a given year... and GW have just launched 2 "new" game systems in the past 6 months. That's all eating into their miniature production capacity.

Very happy with the kroot releases, I have wanted to do an all kroot army for so long it's great to be getting a really wide range of new units in different battlefield roles, instead of another Tau character like darkstrider. The new Tau ethereal also looks pretty nice, and is a great improvement over the one on the hover drone. It's just a pity it is a store anniversary model. Model-wise there are always those characters that the internet decides are ugly, but end up in people's armies nonetheless. I expect the custodes mini will be no different. People say he's squat, but most likely it's an illusion from the photo angles as usual, just like with Trajann Valoris. I'm glad to have a melta spear captain option as it should be able to go with my melta spear forge world unit. It would be nice for a new core unit, but it's still nice to get something. Overall I am more concerned about the the new codexes. So many of these recent books have been really underwhelming, providing minimal to no new lore (even for brand new units), taking away unit options, and toning down the power of what units they do keep. I think this edition is fast becoming my least favourite

Necrons: 9th ed launch army w/full-scale range overhaul Ad Mech: had multiple kits including mecha-pony-riders & jump infantry in 9th Orks: Beastsnagga range + MA Warboss + Deffcoptas + Nu Boyz (eww!) + Kommando KT release CSMs: range overhaul in 8th + nu Possessed + multiple new Mortals unit options + Traitor Guard KT release If you honestly expected ANY of these armies to get more than a single model or two this edition, you're either brand new to 40k, or you're just being a greedy selfish git! The ONLY army guaranteed to get multi-kit love every single edition is generic Space Marines. Used to be prior to 8th edition, you'd be lucky to even get a codex release during any single edition! Expect both Sisters + Genesneaker Cults to get at most 1-2HQ's and maaaaybe a single unit/vehicle. (note: GSC's are rumored to be getting a 'Brood Brothers' upgrade frame for the Nu Cadians via an uncoming KT release) One the other hand, we have the likes of Dark Eldar, 1kSons & GK's who've gone 7-10+ YEARS with barely a single new model released... AND ...that's still not counting how both Votann & especially World Eaters need the other half of their ranges released, plus the heavily rumored brand new faction releases of Agents of the Imperium + Emp's Children. Oh, and don't forget all the Krieg-themed hints from the Xmas rumored engine, or the upcoming BA + SW overhauls. ;-)

It's quite notable how it's either single characters or a bigger thematic refresh these days. FOMO is one thing, but I have to say that I appreciate the thematic consistency in the releases. The Kroot for example, while really not my thing, are exceptional models in a consistent design that I would love to play against as an army. The Dark Angels also really all look like they belong to the same army. Contrast this to the Necrons or Space Marines, that have drastically different design themes across the army. I think this release schedule makes sense when building armies. When a new faction refresh releases you can tell to a good degree what options you (will) have to build thematic armies, instead of waiting for units to be drip-fed over years. I also think working on many thematically connected units at the same time enables GW to design these units faster. Characters are standouts anyways, which is why they are excellent models to be released outside of greater refreshes, and if one doesn't really fit or look particularly good it's not really a problem, just don't buy it.

I understand the fear of this being the only thing you get this edition but is that true? because Drukhari and eldar have both had releases this edition and have not received their codex's yet, Yes they are just refreshes of older models but as a dark eldar player this is much more then I expected as we have only gotten 4 releases in basically a decade. So if that is any sign there is a possibility that more releases can be expected for some of these other factions continuing throughout the edition perhaps.

As a Drukhari player I'm still waiting for my mandrakes. I currently use guardsmen as proxies...

they gave my army stilts last year, my army has pteraxii, ruststalkers, and the ironstrider, "give em stilts and tell em to fuck off, we need to make another 20 characters and 200 space marines".

C'mon, you seriously disappointed that factions that got substantial releases in last two editions got only characters updates? I would understand being disappointed if factions like Grey Knights got 1 model in 10th again, but Necrons/Orks who got a lot in previous years and AdMech/Custodes which are recent fully plastic armies that exist just for 3 editions? Expecting more is forgetting about production and scheduling part, it doesn't make sense bashing GW this time around

I think they’ve stacked the “lite release” armies now so they can pump out AoS 4th edition launch boxes. I guess big releases like Blood Angels will come next year when they’re not competing for factory time. I agree on the FOMO boxes though, I struggle to resist a good deal (even if I don't have time to paint them all....)

I think getting something new each codex is better than what happened before. They kind of jumped the shark with the bundles. Like a character along side a bodyguard unit for 60 odd quid isn’t that offensive. Chucking an entire army along side it just to increase mark up is off putting.

I don’t think the issues is even factions NEEDING new stuff as much as what it is that the releases we have been shown are the opposite of what we want while the game still has some pretty serious issues with how they want 10th to be and play. Like as an orks player we aren’t really missing anything in terms of functionality or needed units, but 10th as an edition kind of feels like it’s draining the fun from a lot of factions.

I just hope they fill out the World Eaters some more. It is a shame they didn't get a unique Terminator sculpt. It makes me very reserved about the eventual Emperors Children release.

Custodes definitely need a scale upgrade they look kinda awkward. Grey knights too

A weird take. Tyranids and Space Marines got a lot of new minis with their codex release. Dark Angels and Tau too. I get that Necrons, Admech, Orcs and Custodes might feel a bit underwhelming in comparison. But all in all it is weird to say that faction releases in 10th are disappointing in general at least miniature wise.

Gw should have made plastic thallax for 30k and gave it rules for mechanicus in 40k instead of giving us another skitarii

Custodes should have got a Plastic Saggitarum, Venatari, Aquilion, Agamatus, Adrastie/Pyrithite, Telemon Heavy Dreadnought and Caladius Grav Tank kits.

I agree, I’ve been disappointed by most of the faction releases in 10e. Of course, the 10e “flagship” factions were incredible. I also appreciated that GW finally restocked older kits, like highly sought after Inceptors, Aggressors, Gladiator tanks, Haruspex/Exocrine, and Gargoyles - and many of those have been restocked on a regular basis (Inceptors). However, the subsequent 10e faction releases have been disappointing. The 3 Necrons characters were better than what Admech got in 10e, but still disappointing. I was finally able to reach 2000 points for my fledgling Dark Angels army with the Deathwing Assault box and subsequent releases, but the middling codex and baffling nerfs sullied the whole thing. The upcoming Orks and Custodes releases are disappointing - unless GW surprises us with more. Although I have both armies, I don’t play them often because my main Black Templars are so competitive in 10e; I’m considering skipping these two codices and just buying the two characters. One of my friends is an Orks main and I can use his codex if I use my army. I’m hoping the 10e CSM codex will be good. CSM has been doing fairly well in the last 4 months and I’ve expanded my army the most after SM and Tyranids. I just hope GW doesn’t do something stupid and soul crushing again after the Dark Angels codex.

As a Tau player who isn’t into Kroot, I’m not planning on getting a codex this edition.

I literally bought the whole DA line, beautiful figures. My necrons I only bought okrine but if I see the storm lord at my LFGS I’ll get him. My Custodes, utter disappointment. Like turn some of our resin stuff to plastic. We don’t care about a new character, especially one where the proportions feel off. Some many options they could have chosen for Custodes. Just have to wait for votann now, just looking forward for a new figure/s. Hopefully something completely different than what our limited line up offers.

The Kroot were still only one plastic kit, with resin models for a bunch of stuff, so doing a whole bunch of stuff in plastic for them is very welcome. I think it's a bit harsh to criticise the release for not having any new Tau models in it. As to Orks, the Ork range is pretty huge, there's nothing in it that looks old in it to me. I think I'd rather they used the new plastic kit budget for something genuinely new. I think it's the rules treadmill that has me more concerned than the model releases at the moment. The one thing with new models that I do think is a bit annoying, in terms of spacing out the releases, is that they don't have assault terminators to match the new scale of terminators. Maybe they'll be something that is released for the Blood Angels, and it won't be too long.

Orks got the whole Beast Snaggas range just over a year ago as well as refreshed Boyz so there's no need for anything else for us other than a character or two that just gives some extra toys. and unfortunately Custodes dont have much because that's how they are and their models are really good and relatively new. If you don't like characters thats fine, but i think expecting a refresh of a range every codex is unrealistic even if it would be nice

But necrons avoided this and admech also these aren't limited releases for the hq's ontop of these being discount boxes. If you like everything in buy it if you don't you're missing out on nothing.

I play admech and I was immensely disappointed with both the new model and the new codex with it, I also play chaos space marines and I am worried on how its releases will go.

As a Drukhari player i hope we might get all our missing units back, plus alot of new characters. But i expect what we will get is either a lot of the missing units removed all together and MAYBE if we are lucky we will get 1 new characters.... as in we most likely will get the last fine cast character make their way to plastic. What about Vect and all our other characters? Eh maybe next edition or maybe not.

Well I think the worst bit with the new Custodian character is that he has a melta spear and the only way to play Custodians with spears is to buy old resin. Why don't they make a 5 man Custodian squad with the melta and the character. That would make more sense. I play Custodians, Ultramarines and Imperial guard and I will say im not playing as much Custodians and are playing more ultramarines due to them having some new things

I started Orks when they got some new releases. I wanted to collect their "new" range. So I'm really bummed of them not doing a proper set of boyz, nob and that sort of thing. I feel forced to stop collecting them for now.

im fine with this as long as the model is available on its own eventually. "if you want your new model for this edition a few months early, buy it with all this other stuff." i really wish they would go all the way with making the rules free though. this would be very acceptable as a way to farm enough money off of comp whales to make up for it.

I'm into the painting side instead of the gaming side and 10th edition feels like a dud. Since I'm not entering tournaments and my painting isn't good enough for contests I'd be better off with something third party Ork than to buy the box just for the Big Mek.

Think the space marine codex kinda sucks, it’s clearly designed as a skeleton framework for the subfaction chapters. 9th edition was the same but atleast you could still use your ultramarine, iron hands, imperial fists, etc codexes. If you didn’t then it would’ve been horrific to play

I would not call it scummy it's how a corporation that must guarantee constant cash flow to exist behaves. This will eventually run out of steam as a marketing strategy or Amazon will catapult sales into the stratosphere. Just throw your dice and have fun with your friends, the rest is distraction.

So, because everyone's getting updated there's less "buy new thing" power creep fomo and instead everyone is getting a little something and you're not happy about that? Im usually the last person to have anything kind to say about GW and left the game for like 15 years, but honestly tenth is the best I've seen so far.

GW have a really rough production pipeline and several games to maintain releases for, expecting a major range release (especially where unnecessary) for every faction in 40k just feels pretty entitled tbh, 40k isn’t the only thing GW have to take care of

Personally I am skipping the ork battleforce, I already have everything that's in the battleforce. I want the mek, its very cool but its not cool enough to get a stompa with it.

What's new about this? It's been the same in 9th and 8th edition. Some Armies get only a single new model with their Codex and others get more new releases. And those are factions who need it. I see nothing special, new or strange about it. o_O

Dark Angels are disappointing for actual players of the game though. We wanna play the cool new models but it feels super unerewhelming to actually field them. The rules kinda just suck and making things cheaper to make them good also makes them not feel as elite as they should be. Id rather they do solid rules and start with overcosting them, instead of giving them shitty rules then making them cheap.

I will laugh so hard , after all those mid to meh books , to get an eldar book that busts them back in to the stratosphear. also l feel bad for DA players. Great two units and characters etc. Awesome, but they are so bad you don't want them, if you actualy play the game.

I think GW focused a bit much on all the bullshit games like AoS and Old World and all the other niche games and it really caused an undercooked 10th Edition to be released. I could be wrong, but they seem to be doing too much at once.

I''m sorry, but honestly you are coming from pretty unreasonable direction and put too much thought on GW marketing instead on first thinking about infrastructure and production process. Injection Molding Machines which GW uses takes a long-time to produce, they BIG and HEAVY machines, needs a lot of space and electricity, there should be custom mold for each geometry which is quite expensive investment (5k up to 100k), new mold takes 4 to 6 weeks to manufacture and 2-4 for production, any damage to mold or need of modification to design requires a new to get created, it wears off with time and any time machines aren't working it's a loss for a company, since why they economically viable for big productions. GW already investing in new machines, infrastructure an logistics nearly each year, but it takes lots of time and money to expand. Local grid in Nottingham is already taken heavily by GW and new factories and land is more of city problem that regulates those things. So it's should be obvious why there aren't more of new units for faction or just single character per edition, there is a limit of how much there can or what kind of mold they can produce. And don't forget, GW still needs to remove older models to make space for new line in machines schedule. Until existing mold is exhausted after years there likely won't be replacement soon, talking about not expecting Custodes scale refresh. Now remember, before 8th edition we have situations when some factions not only didn't received any new models, boxsets, good deals, they played whole edition with previous edition codex. Only after 8th and 9th they started whole "factions will get at least some new model per edition", plus don't forget after codexes there is campaign books that also bring some models. Now talking about so called "dissapointing" 10th that released with a one-few models, Necrons, AdMech, Orks and Custodes, they already received big recent range releases in 8th-9th, so expecting anything more then one or few characters is kinda greedy and unrealistic due to objective reasons, it's time for other factions to get their turn with substantial releases. For example it's pretty obvious faction like Votann and Eldar will get their 2nd wave of releases in 10th, you mention BL and so on, entire new Emperor's Children are coming as well.

Im a Tau guy and I have to say... why so many Kroot? I like them ngl, but where are the battlesuits? FUSION BLADES? I dont play Gundam faction because of chickens.

GW is equivalent to a drug dealer and an abusive spouse in one. The only answer is to get divorced and rehabilitated. Cut out this crap that's destroying your mental health and instead of depending on a third party to administer your fix, pick up a hobby that _you_ are in control of.

You forgot that gw strategy is to give every faction at least one model per edition. Only few of them gets anything else. Imo this edition WILL not be different. IS not different. This video is bias AF. You just dont like things they have shown.
