A wide shop light to catch the reflection to the camera, something like www.amazon.com/Hykolity-Linkable-Workshops-Basements-FlushMount/dp/B01GJVEM4S would be perfect for this. And placement would be above the middle of the car, not right above the back/rear.

@@Karopine i use those in my personal garage, surely in a 15x15 with a 9' ceiling its incredible however in a shop like his it may be different. Matt from Obsessed Garage is a go-to-guy for all things garage. Jimbo could learn a thing or two from him (not in a bad way, if anything it'll help a LOT with video production)

A quick question. My daily driver, (8 months old) is left outside each night, and has a top rated coating on it with a 10 year warranty, and a new film bra for the front hood and quarters. I naively thought it would protect this fabulous paint job from every night's dew that literally looks like it rained the night before. From Oct through April we have heavy dew. So, since it didn't work and I wash my car every Saturday, what can I do during the week when the dew comes at night and then the car sits out at work in the sunshine? I can't use a cover because it would mar and lightly scratch the paint surface. Should I blow dry it each morning, or rinse it with DI water? What do you recommend? Thanks for everything.

I heard compounding and polishing does not remove the water spots just hides them. Apparently you have to use a mineral remover like the one Jimbo used to truly remove it. Those guys from Opti have a podcast on water spot removing and stated that compounding will just hide them but eventually come back after a while.

Glass etching seems to be a real concern here with acid. Can you describe better why it is not so concerning to you? As in what precautions are you taking? I saw one comment about not applying to the window but instead to the cloth. Also, I am reading windows need to not be hot (an issue here in FL) and that you Must rinse off like you did fairly quickly with a balancing agent. Any other things you recommend to stay safe on this and not ruin a window?

Good video brother. Thanks! Wish you were in my area... My new car has massive water spots from overnight sprinklers in my Apt complex (I'll definitely be getting a garage unit at my complex after the spots are removed). Been trying all types of products with absolutely no results. The last resort, or the last thing I will be trying, is going to a good detailer... They're just pretty pricey around here. However, if they're local and not a corporate chain, I'll gladly support them. I think having to get through the prior polish and wax I've done is the biggest challenge to remove the water spots?

I need advice quick! I was sitting in my car at a convenience store, when a liquid fell on my car. At first I thought it was rain, but it was only on one side of the car. I believe someone sprayed something on my car, but I didn't notice anyone around. They probably did it while they were driving off, or from the rear of my car. I hadn't realized it at first, but it left spots on my car when it dried, and a film on my window that looked like a milky substance. Do you think that it was some kind of wax, because when I tried to wipe it off with a baby wipe it removed the spots but left a residue like when you polish your car. Now it has a smeared film but the spots are gone. The windows still have a film though. What can I use to remove this crap from my black car? I don't want it to sit too long and set in the paint so that it is impossible to remove. Desperate! I don't understand people who do that.

I need advice. Bought a brand new 2020 Lexus ES. Didn’t look at it first. With Covid negotiated everything over the phone. Applied online. Walked into Lexus and went through financing walked out about hour later and then they hit me with the sorry but this car had water spots and we need to get it detailed. Considering they were about to close we agreed they would keep the car and I would pick up in a few days. I was pissed but negotiated free tint for the inconvenience. Fast forward 2 weeks later on Fathers Day I washed the car and my husbands car just to find out the water spots aren’t gone and they are severe all over the car. Lexus is trying to have me bring it back for them to do more detailing or whatever. I’m over it. At this point I want them to replace the car and just let me get a new one. I’m no expert on water spots and the work involved to fix but I do know I spent a lot of money and when you buy a 2020 Lexus you want perfection. Thoughts please!!!!!

@@autodetailingpodcast interesting. I still won't be doing it myself though - hydrofluoric acid is known to etch glass, so I won't be taking the risk. It's right there on the Wikipedia page for hydrofluoric acid, and The Rag Company have just released two videos on water spot removal - they too say that wheel acid should not be used on glass.

okay, I have been using this technique for this issue and also instead of clay bar with great results for some time. so I was wondering. You did a ton more on that car than just getting rid of waterspots. was that for our us or was that for the driver?? how do you price for that and still be able to dump that much time into that job?? what do you charge for that type of correction??

This one was a bit of a time suck, especially since I wanted to record a video for it too. It was washed with a APC/ acid wash mix to try and cut down the time. Then I wiped the whole thing with acid as shown and did a super quick one step polish with Hd speed. Total time with recording this video is about 6 hours. The paint was in really bad shape over most of the car so it definitely didn’t receive a full correction. I could have easily spent another 5-10 hours on it. But that wouldn’t have fit the client budget.
