That's not what the zen master said at all. He said your value is based on where you are appreciated. If people don't appreciate you, then find better people. In another word, haters gonna hate. 😄
@Curve248
@Curve248 Жыл бұрын
@@aihope8350 While this has been learned from experience (go find those who will value you), it has also been learned from experience that how you estimate yourself can affect how others may estimate you. That is, under confidence or naïveté may invite those who wish to take advantage of that, while overconfidence can invite those who wish to outdo you or who may believe you blindly. Huh… While it now seems clear that both extremes fall within the same recommendation to find those who value you (since the scenarios above mentioned may occur less easily). Edit: Also clarifying for one to possess enough confidence of their worth to continue to move forward in life (not too little that it risks inviting those who may take unfair advantage, and not too much that it could invite people highlighting the higher stakes that could arise in over promising).

To anybody who's reading this, I pray that whatever is hurting you or whatever you are constantly stressing about gets better. May the dark thoughts, the overthinking, and the doubt exit your mind. May clarity replace confusion. May peace and calmness fill your life. I hope anything that bothers you and makes you feel depressed will go away and you will feel comfortable with this video. Don't worry, tomorrow is a new day. Start over. It's not too late yet.

Did the stone know the value of it? Did the stone go to market or antique shop by it self? It seems like the value depends on the person who discovers the stone. It seems like our parents, mentor or even a recruiter knows the value of a person. So they can ensure a person gets maximum value. I may be wrong completely, but this is what I understood.

@@LuisVasDeCamoes Love that you say this! Speaks of a wider sense of worth and insight imho. It's strange, when you have been raised to greet the janitor's helper with the same respect as the landlord, to constantly find so many others so eager to disrespect and devalue. How much better would life be if kindness and respect weren't so often treated like hostages.

"Sometimes we get stuck in places that do not truly value our potential, it important to step back and ask ourselves if we are in the right place surrounded by right people." This line, it can't be more real It's important for us to find the rhythm of our lives, when we're younger our parents decide it for us but as we gradually up this burdens us to know our correct place and to do something that won't tire us out. We aimlessly hope for delicacies without looking at the necessities, I hope today we all can bring our true self forward and not succumb in the corner due to fear. Thanks for this beautiful piece of advice on life❤️

It’s so true. I’m in a profession where different offices/businesses get different types of clients and issues to solve, hence different salaries payable to employees like me. Yet, we’ve all spent the same amount of hours, apply the same skills (skills will become different once you develop your years of expertises) to start with, and same resources to rely on. Initially I was okay with the low pay, then when my colleagues started to be unfriendly and disrespectful, I knew this office, this “platform,” didn’t appreciate me, let alone recognizing my worth. So my choice now is to leave the vegetable market and go to a museum, 💪 May we all find the right platforms for ourselves where we will be appreciated, respected, and valued. 🙏

In this vedio we learnt that our value depends on what other person need from us. We fullfill her/his need we put our value in his /her life. If we want to know our worth we first shall know our self. What i want? What i want to become in future? What i like or dislike? What my nature? Knowing yourself and belive in yourself is self worth

Great lesson there. If you're trying to get something done and someone keeps pestering you with abstract questions set them a random job that'll get them out of your hair for three days. Here's my favourite "Zen parable" from Terry Pratchett: “If you trust in yourself. . .and believe in your dreams. . .and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”

What does it mean? We exist to see the stone. To feel it's texture. To hear it fall. Perhaps you could taste and smell it if you wanted. Then you could think about the rock. What is experience, what is the nature of nature? Value doesn't have to equate to virtue, does it? 💛

Very western to compare worth along with price. Sounds like "when you're a postman, you're worth (...)" "if you are a doctor, you're worth (...) "if you are a politician, you're worth (...)" "Your worth depends on where you stand." I doubt that. I believe our worth is always there, without any postion.

Never be so eager to throw love away, precious is the gem 💎 stone that glows brightly 🌞 in your chest it's called heart ❤ some seek it out in others, and many push people down to take another's, when we sit in a quiet space after exercise and meditate 🧘‍♀ with true belief, focusing on what we really want to achieve, that is the moment you activate your heart chakra. don't expect 💖 the mountain of the mind to move all at once, it takes so much repetition and faith in one's self 💖 to open your beautiful hidden treasure trove of creation, you have the opportunity to turn that key 🔑 in any direction you so wish 🤞 setting good intentions is the final lesson 😊 give with an open heart with out expectations and the divine will listen 🎶 if you want what is hidden out of sight work hard enough to make it unfold in your reality 😊 🕊💖🕯🌅🎆💯

Having SELF-worth obviates the need for others to "recognize" it in you. If your sense of worth comes from your market value--whatever the amount ascribed to it ($2 or $200,000)--your sense of yourself is dependent upon external circumstances, including the views of others both of which will inevitably change. That impending change easily evokes anxiety. Striving to get others to value you (before or after you recognize yourself) is what most people do now and is exactly the source of people's feeling of contingent worth. If you want to be secure in your sense of worth, you must understand it in entirely different terms. This "Zen" story is anything but. Zen Buddhism is famous for its position of "no-self". To Mahayana Buddhists the concept of self is just another 'empty' constructed concept, but one that has particular power for the untrained mind. One's attachment, according to Buddhists, to one's sense of self is the ultimate source of suffering--not a sense of worth. The advice given here does not address a Buddhist analysis in any recognizable way that I can see, whatever its merits may be to you. The statement "Your life's value is like this stone, if you place it..." is very much at odds with Buddhist views on self.

Well said, my friend. The only remotely Buddhist in this story is the description on how causes and conditions determine and define events. What’s definitely not Buddhist thought is the talk about ‘self-worth’, as you say. Actually, the tendency to build a psychological platform based on a sense of self is exactly what Buddhist practice aims at dissolving. Why? Because, according to the Buddha, the belief in a self is a hollow belief system based on false speculations. Because of holding on to a belief based on false premises we creat suffering for ourselves and others. Our beliefs in an independently existing self are not based in reality but based on a fantasy and can therefor only bring grief and frustration when it collides with reality. But I know you already know this by having read your comment. I’m just glad that someone else also had the intelligence and knowledge to see through this fraudulent statement. It cannot had come from a genuine zen source. Impossible.

@@freetibet1000 Thanks! We see things similarly. My main concern is that others without the good fortune to have encountered and engaged deeply with Buddhism might actually take this video as reflective of Zen. I hope its creator will recognize the harm it is doing and remove it themselves.

@@ohreally4065 Yes, I see what you mean. Misrepresentation of the words of the Buddha and in this case Zen, cannot bring any benefit. That’s for sure. On the other hand, coming to the defense of Buddha dharma is not necessary either. Truth will always be the truth, no matter how much it is neglect or disregarded. Truth will always stand up for itself. But I appreciate your effort to present the dharma to others in a way that is not in contradiction with its original intent. You have sympathy for that. I like to give an example, if I may; right now people around the world are upset because religious books are being burnt to manifest political points. If the same thing happened to Buddhist texts we shouldn’t be upset or worried. Why? In this world it is a normal situation that we humans do not see the same truth in all things. If someone is going so far as to burn religious books is no big deal. The karma is on them for having caused many to be upset. Also, those that are upset should consider that no religious book can be the law that everyone must follow. Religious teachings doesn’t need to be defended. If they do, they contain weaknesses that lack the truth. No religion needs to be defended if it is believed to hold the truth. In the eyes of the non-believer religious defensiveness is a sure sign of disbelief and doubt.
