9:58 at with almost every question in PoE, the answer is 'it depends'. Like for instance, there are certain strategies where you don't really want to finish the maps at all, like spam-running short maps for Harvest/Essences/Heist/Expedition, where you just pop the mechanic and head out. However, there is still a bunch of nuance to that because you can run them with Eater/Exarch influence so you can get your invitations every 28 maps. Related to that are strategies where you just rush down map bosses. Something like the Destructive Play Maven keystone to get a lot of different Shaper/Elder/Conqueror/Synthesis maps and master missions, or you can just run 1-2 short maps with Eater/Exarch altars for the map dupe chance. Path of Exile has a lot of different ways to play and engage with the mechanics, and there aren't any 'right ways' to play because it all depends on what you need and want (especially if you are playing SSF)

Oh I'm gonna become what I hate the most, a backseater, because there is one thing the game never tells you - towers more than 1.5x screen away do nothing, they don't activate, fire, or slow enemies, their AI is effectively off until you enter range again. This is partially why most people build towers close to the pump in Blighted Maps, beyond it being a good strategy it also ensures all of your towers are actually loaded and doing what they're supposed to.

by the way, the pictures on the portals at the bottom of your screen, it tells you what portals resist which towers, so you were pretty unlucky with the fact that the strategy you found to be working was being resisted

Honestly, from a content creation perspective, holding off on the old-league content and saving it for maps when you could focus was kinda brilliant. You have ready-made video concepts as you explore the leagues, you have people happy to explain mechanics for you, and the resources to actually focus on one at a time and really get to grips with how they work. The way the game introduces this stuff is pretty decent, kinda drip-feeding it through the campaign, but it's not uncommon to see people do something once, then completely forget about it in the following 15 hours of campaign leveling, only to get super confused later on.

blight is a super fun mechanic, glad to see you discovering and enjoying it! few things to point out: the golden oil isn't worth 1 chaos orb, it's worth 1 divine orb. and divine orbs currently go for about 140-150 chaos orbs! there are a lot of different ring anointments you can get, and some are stronger than others. you should look at the full list of ring anointments. most strategies take one defensive anointment (like chilling towers freeze enemies) and one offensive anointment (like meteor towers leave burning ground). monster immunities are really important to consider when building your blight towers. if you see a bunch of minion type lanes (purple dude in the picture) then you should build something other than minion towers to counter them. if you see cold lanes, you have to use physical towers to stop them. etc. there are certain map mods that will make blight much more difficult. monsters cannot be stunned and monster's action speed cannot be reduced are the two turbo-bad ones. the strongest builds for blight are the ones that detonate corpses, because monsters in blight scale to really high health, and corpse detonation scales with monster health. you should always anoint your blight maps and most people also chisel and alc them. corrupting them is also really good if you want to earn currency, because that allows them to drop tainted oils (which sell for 7+ divine orbs, or 910 chaos). some anointments are better defensively - clear oils slow monsters, ambers make your towers cheaper, etc. others improve the rewards. i recommend using the defensive ones until you get consistent with success. generally speaking the slow towers are the most valuable in blight, as you found! cold towers and physical towers make a really good combo. note though that the final level physical and cold towers do totally different things and shouldn't be built save in super-specific situations! i like making a glacial cage near the pump because if something gets thru it stops them in their tracks, buying you some time to kill them.

Just as a heads up for blights, if your towers are outside a certain range of you they won't do anything. Also like others have said, the symbol on the portal are what the spawned mobs are resistant to.

Blight is a bit of a personal favourite of mine, it gets a bit of a bad reputation on account of how it slows down your mapping so much, but I think it's a non-ARPG mechanic that GGG implemented super well.

you should get used to playing with the full screen map overlay.. especially handy for blight since you can see all the mobs approaching on the overlay

Hello. A few tips from big blight enjoyer: 1. the towers really stop working when you are far away form them. It's about two screens, but the exact distance doesn't matter that much, the thing is that it basically forces you to build towers close to the pupm. 2. Some monster spawning points have an icon above them showing a tower type for which they are imune. Same icons you can see at the bottom of the screen, where it shows you list of all spawning points and their imunity and if there is small "head-like" icon above the imunity icon it means that the spawning point will spawn a boss and when the border of the icon lights up it means the spawning point activated. 3. Anoint your rings in a way that one boosts stopping towers and the second boosts damaging towers. And buld only boosted towers, unless the immunities force you to build something else. 4. Oils can be upgraded, 3 lesser give 1 higher. 5. Always chissel your blighted maps and anoint them to max. 6. Before you start the blight encounter in blighted map, move your town portal somewhere where you will not accidentally click it (but not too far from the pump). It's no tragedy to accidentally click it, when you port to town the encounter freezes, but it distracts and it's annoying. 7. You can do anoints in your blight stash tab, you don't need Cassia if you have the stash tab. 8. Boneshatter build is not much of a blight destroyer (to say politely 🙂), focus on you towers. Less towers, but upgraded to max, all empowered by empowering towers. GOOD LUCK!

Main approach to win is on each lane (best doing this on intersections) to have Level 3 seismic and a level 3 freezing tower supported by level 3 support tower, not level 4. this combo perma locks all monsters in place. Map randomness prevents this so you solve the puzzle on where to set this up and how many times. perma locked monsters can still overwhelm towers if to many targets so you need to kill them off, use any towers you like for that or do it yourself, though boneshatter is not the best for this. Neck anointments give you a passive skill, rings empower blight towers of your choosing. There is even harder version of blighted maps, blight ravaged map - you can anoint it 9 times some people say its on par with uber bosses on difficulty would not agree but its definitely a challenge. Blight is my favorite by far of all league mechanics i tried (haven't tried sanctum and simulacrum yet). I like doing it even though i tend to lose money on it :D just an enjoyable thing to do :D

Thats why its normally recommended to really focus on once mechanic if you want to make money and you CAN make pretty decent money with blight. Just optimize your atlas and jewelry for it, run sewer maps (set them as favorite) and sell the blighted maps, oils, scarabs etc. that drop. If you go all out you get about 2-4 blight encounters per map. Personally I like the meteor towers best (in combo with stun/ice/empower) because their burning ground effect even damages fire immune mobs. Its my favorite piece of league mechanic and the one I always do at the beginning of the season because its easy to set up and makes you quite a bit of money fast.

Ah, Sister Cassia's Fungal Fun-time. My favourite mechanic. I do it every league. The rest of POE is basically just a thing I have to play to unlock the tower defence game I actually want.

My tip for blight for you, always build all your towers as close to the pump as possible, not the spawners. Also don't focus on volume of towers, focus on level. Freeze and scout tower is the meta, so you had that right. The icons on the bottom of the screen have secondary icons within them showing what towers that lane is resistant against. Lastly, please never waste a golden oil on a map again lol.

So, the reason that boss was so tanky was the consecrated ground. It gives mobs hp regen/s.

Blight mechanic is one of my most beloved mechanics, being an oldschool WC3 towerdefence player. Here's some info that could help you make it easier to complete the blight mechanic successfully. The bar in the bottom of the screen shows you icons of the "immunities" the monsters that spawn from that given portal has, i.e. if it shows a snowflake, cold towers have no effect on them. This way you know from the beginning if it would be futile ex. using cold towers or minion towers. - Towers are only active as long you are within a certain range of them, meaning if you go off to another part of the map to the left, the towers to the far right might stop working until you get back in range. - Choke points ( you already got this one down) - Overlapping slow and stuns (in most cases its good to place both a cold and stun tower in same chokepoints. This slows lanes with either immunities, and if there are no immunities, it outright stops the monsters in the spot as long you are in range of the towers. - Upgrading, lightning, fire and minion towers to max is always good, but cold and stun towers work best for slowing at rank 3. especially with a t3 empowering tower in range. - Maps with "Monsters speed cannot be modified below base value" or "Monsters cannot be stunned" can be a disaster for blight mechanic, if you don't have a screen-clearing build that doesn't rely on the towers at all. - In maps where there are 4 or 5 different directions they spawn from, it can be really good to upgrade 1 tower that can target 2 lanes to t4 chain lightning tower, and place 1 cold/stun tower in each of the other, until you get enough juice to build/upgrade more towers. Not knowing about some of these things can lead to a lot of frustrations, time waste and currency waste, but I'm not gonna come with ideas on how to optimize or strategize otherwise, cause whats the fun in that. Hope you could use some of this info, (if you read it) :)

I love Blight so seeing more of it from you would be lovely! It is quite challenging when you start figuring out what even is going on but once you have found your strat of the right combination of towers it can become very chill, actually. You should always use the oils on blighted maps as the modifiers can simplify the encounter by a lot. I personally like using the orange oil to decrease the prices of towers which enables me to spam towers. This is especially helpful if my damage is not that high yet. There is more to do and experience with Blight.

The blight HUD has a golden border to indicate that lane is active, silvery grey means it is not yet active and when it changes into a loot icon it means the lane has been defeated. The icon in the middle if present indicates that the lane will not be affected by the corresponding tower type (the icon will also be over the portal where the mobs spawn). If there is a circle type thing on top then that means a boss will spawn on that lane and when it turns red it means the boss has spawned. Blighted maps can be anointed 9 times, that means you can use 3 oils on them 3 times and you can stack the same oil up to 3 times - 3 clear and 3 orange help make things easier by slowing the mobs giving you more time to react and making the towers cheaper so you can build more early before things get too crazy. Generally the best tower setup is Tier 3 frost/slow, Tier 3 phys/stun and Tier 3 empower (don't max them) - this combination basically freezes the monsters in place - then you throw out Max Tier DPS towers like Meteor or Scouts. Also the worst possible mod a blight map can have is enemies can't be slowed as it nullifies any slowing oils on the map and any towers used to try and slow mobs.

You should check the anointment of the amulet that you get as a reward to see if it contains gold or silver oils and if it's freezable to use an extractor. To check the anointing, you can search on your passive skill tree for the name to locate it, and when you hover over the node, press 'alt' to see what oils you need to put the anointing on the amulet. Any major skill point on the passive tree has a recipe composed of 3 oils.

pro tip: recast your portal right on the pump, you will have it's blue icon on the minimap very clearly

1. Blight monsters/portals have resistances so vary your towers a bit. Scout, stun, chill, and empower are great options. 2. Blight towers don't activate when you're ~1.5 screens away so build closer to your pump. 3. Map mods like "stun immune/action speed cannot be lowered" will make blight monsters immune to stun/chill towers. Have fun. I love blight too!

In path of building's passive tree section there is a compare button in the bottom. By pressing it you can easily see the differences of two different passive trees.

Hold shift on the passive tree while hovering over a notable node , you'll see what oils will give you that node. So basically the amulet anoint lets you allocate a passive point on any notable on the tree, regardless of whether it's connected to your others.

the pictures at the bottom is immunity type of this lane. you also have a range around you in which the towers are active. the white dots above the pictures are lanes with a boss.

Some monsters are immune to certain towers, those icons at the bottom represent which towers they're immune to.

Blight is the reason I play XD Move your portal far away from anywhere you might be to keep from accidentally clicking on it. Scout the map a bit before starting. Don't use towers that monsters are resistant to, unless they aren't on/near that path Extract oil from the items that have the highest price oil inputs (either find the node on the tree and hold alt to see what goes into it, or use the Internet) don't waste extractors if you aren't having a chance at at least 2 silvers. 3 oils to a vendor =next level oil Seismic level 2+buff level 2 is your best friend. Minions are your next best friend, then the other 3 turrets. Blight is the best league ever.

Bad thing about blight is that towers that you are far away from stop working, so its pointless to build far.

11:12 if you purchase the stash tabs for various league mechanics, you normally dont gave to use the master to effect items. For example, you took oils from stash to the master to annoint a map, you could have done it from the blight tab. Basically if theres an item slot in the center of the tab it means you can do whatever from it as well. Iirc blight is really the only one you cannot do from you characters inventory, but delve, essence, and currency tabs also have an item slot to use. Its not a big deal but time is divines.

There is a palette of strategies that use map for one purpose and leave it. Generally they are called "rush" strats. Boss rush - just running to the boss and leaving after, in your case blight rush - just finding the blight, doing it, leaving the map after. If those strats are good or not is determined by the league environment. In one league some drop unique to a certain mechanic is worth a lot, in other the same thing can be worth close to nothing. So the rule of thumb is - if i can drop this, with a good certainty and it costs butt load, its worth rushing the the mechanic and ignoring the rest of the map.

A big thing to note about your towers is that if you are too far away from them, they deactivate and thus do nothing so the monsters can just run past. the game doesn't tell you this and really should since you, like many others start off by putting towers at the portals just to be overwhelmed when the towers do nothing cause you are too far away. i also like that you went from being super careful with oils to using 150c worth of oils to anoint a Blighted map, just to forget the south lanes and loose all of it xD regarding the Anoints for Rings and Amulets, it's specific for them so you don't loose out on anything else by anointing them really.

IT IS BRANCHING EXILE 😂 Happy to see you play blight, most people hate blight and there is always a need for oils as amulets anoints are great! You did well. Scout tower are one of the strongest. Except when minions are immune to it. The meta is nowadays more : - a group with empowering (green) towers level 3, cold (blue) level 3 and stun (brown) level 3 to stun/freeze minion in strategic point - and meteor (from fire red) level 4 everywere else The reason is that both cold and meteor gets cool ring augment. Meteor leave burning ground that also affects minion insensible to fire tower. And cold tower have an augment on ring that freeze monster. Empowering tower is nice enough so you can't skip it but don't upgrade more that level 3. Same for cold, level 3 max. Last, but not least blighted map are hard. Do them white or blue (normal or rare) until you succeed. Most low level oils (to the right) actually helps. Eg more tower damage, smaller cost or slow minion. Higher level oils buff rewards. Except some case, golden oils are way to expensive to be used on a map. It is one divine (or 120 chaos after all). Sell it to gain currency. Extract every ring or amulet that may contains golden oil, or the double/triple silver ones, as you may spend 20c to get 120c (gold) or 50c (silver) so it is worth. I made 35 divine early buying ring that anoints for combinaison of gold + other oils and were misspriced.

I fucking love Blight, and it was the most fun league I'd had since Rampage! Glad your opinion is correct! Also to answer your question about the Blight anoints, the mods you get don't interfere with crafting at all, as they are indeed their own slot. Also, a good anoint for one of your rings is the one that makes your Meteor Tower leaving Burning Ground behind. I think the burning ground bypasses their damage reduction towards Fire Towers.

I felt real, physical pain when I saw him using 1 golden and 1 silver for the last blighted map 🤕

great video! just a small feedback, if you are testing a mechanic, and there are clearly multiple options in front of you. you should try all of them and include your reaction for everything. like for this video for instance, it is a blight review without a single instance of fire/meteor or lightning towers built. you had all options there, you just went with only minion/ice towers and nothing else. please make it more broad on future ones, I love these videos :) (example: dont run only lockpicking contracts when doing heist video and try ALL options to see ALL layouts, etc you get the point). love!

Meta for blight and blighted maps are chill tower. Upgrading then to tier-3, but not tier-4. Unless mobs are resistant to chill - they get significantly slowed. And anointment on ring can further increase efficiency of chill. If some spawn point spawning chill-resitant mobs - stun tower upgraded to t4 for temporal tower also helps slowing them down.

One blight specific Atlas node is Cassia's Pride which makes it even more tower focused by reducing player damage and increasing tower damage. Also portal symbols have possible immunities and bigger symbol on top of portal means that it will spawn a boss.

Funnily enough, I love blight and I was searching online for info about it I found that there are players who don't like it. This was so cool to learn because I was confused about how something so interesting could be not interesting to someone, GGG is really something else lol.

9:51 Well depends on what you mean by "finish". Killing map boss: If you're specced into shaper/elder guardian maps, conqueror or synthesis maps, or you need jun/alva missions or if you haven't finished that map yet, yes. Full clearing: If you've juiced the map a lot or you've hit an insane altar like Divine Orb. Progression for Exarch/Eater invitations: Just kill a few mobs until Exarch/Eater influenced mobs spawn. There's also a fire/lightning effect when they start spawning. You generally don't want to full clear maps unless you're juicing them.

Quick note: When you vaal orb a map to corrupt it, it can change mods. The Vault map you ran around 36:00 did that when you vaal'ed it and had -10% max res (why you died to fire ground so fast). Always good to double check the mods after you corrupt 😁

Interesting that you instantly went with minions and stuck with it. I won't give you the secret strats but here's a hint: combinations of different towers are very effective against certain types of monsters. To the point where your character can do 0 dps and you can still farm blighted maps. I'm not a big fan of blight but It's always a good fallback if you need currency and somewhat bricked your build.

There's a 2 screen limit in PoE, where things 2 screens away from you don't render in game. This stupidly applies to Blight towers, so if you move too far away from your towers, they stop working, but mobs keep moving. So the general tactic in Blight is to surround Cassia's pump with towers as close to it as possible. You can basically afk at that point with a good mix of towers, and pick off any that come through.

Towers can only attack when you are around 2 screens away. Because of that its not recommended to build turrets at the end of the path. Try to keep them close to the portal and bounce between each side to keep towers active

fist towers are good for stunning, you can perma stun mobs for the most part, fist the enemies. ring annoitments are very strong and can carry blights on their own, especially higher end content, where people place towers and just afk until its done

There’s an absolute fool proof start to never fail blight maps 1. You do 3 amber oils to reduce tower cost by 75% 2. Get the meteor tower anoint on a ring: indigo plus violet 3. Get a seismic, freezing or empowering anoint on your other ring. 4. Stay close to the pump, set up towers at a big cluster or where lanes overlap. Towers deactivate at about 2 screens away. 5. Make a level 3 empower, and in its range make Level 3 seismic and ice tower NOT level 4. These will perma CC mobs. And for dps spam Level 4 fire meteor towers, also inside the empower tower range. The meteor anoint ensures they can kill fire resist mobs AND proximity shield mobs. Do NOT roll on the map: monsters cannot be stunned or action speed cannot be lowered below base And that’s it. You can fully afk once you have those set up. And you don’t have to attack at all There are some instances where mobs have their own modifiers that make them stun/freeeze immune, and can sneak by. But you should still be able to clear every map. Unless you get super unlucky with tower locations. That’s why I personally go for the empower range increase anoint.

What i love about blight is that its balanced so that the towers can clear blight maps all by themselves. You literally dont have to do any dmg yourself. Empowered level 3 chill and seismic towers are able to nearly perma CC monsters and meteor towers with ring anoints just kill everything, even blight ravaged maps can be done easily this way with rly weak builds, because the towers do the dmg for you

I either do super juiced map apothecary farming or play blight. Every league for years. It's a piece of content that you can always do no matter your gear level. The towers will kill them, you can basically AFK once they are setup properly.

If you know what you are doing, It turns really easy, there are Anointments for rings, that enable you to stunlock everything and bypass the mob types. + when you Anointment Maps you can either increase the reward or you can make it easier, my favorite is to reduce tower costs by 75% on blight maps.

blight: take empowering tower lvl 3 affecting physical tower lvl 3 and cold tower lvl3, don't roll monsters cannot be stunned on map, and run 3x oil that reduce the cost of the tower building cost. all Monsters will be stopped, and you can annoit effect of empowering towers and fire tower burning ground lingers for 2 sec and you will always succeed all blighted map easy

Oh, I miss playing POE! At least I can see streamers having some fun 🥲. My poor laptop can't handle the game anymore so until I get a new one (that may be only when this one eventually die someday) I won't play anything again. Blight was my best league! I love that so much and it was the highest character I had (lvl 86 I think), and the only time I got to lvl 15 maps. By the way, I never played following guides, and always did try to figure out things by myself because I'm absolutely unable to play using melee and I can't survive without minions 😅. As some British would say "I'm not a spring chicken anymore", so I'm kinda slow to play and I definitely need some minions to help manage enemies. I never had more than a character a season, played only on SSF and progressed slowly but I had fun so that's what matters.

So I don't know if you know this already but if you corrupt something e.g. a map, it could change its modifiers or even the map itself. So maybe you change the map that you needed into one that you already completed. And if it is corrupted, you can't change it any further with currency items. :) And one other thing: Above the portals or on the bottom of your screen, there is a symbol attached to some portals. That symbol shows a possible resistance for the portals - so if it has a Minion resistance, for example, it takes less damage from the minions.

NIce content! You gotta use map overlay whit blight to see when the monsters are close to your pump tower. its hard to see only on minimap in right corner. GLHF!

Most of the content in PoE is a knowledge check. With the two correct anoints for rings and building the three correct towers you'd reduce the difficulty of blighted maps by 90%+. If you add a good ranged/minion build it might as well be free. (I'm not naming them so I won't spoil it for you, but there are a lot of videos about it on yt.)

If you are target farming a league mechanic, like Blight, it's pretty normal to skip doing the rest of the map after completing the mechanic. I personally at least kill the map boss, but I made my peace with leaving mobs alive in maps about 3k hours ago haha.

BLIGHT!!! Time for nyx to join cassia's cult lol Also the meta is empowering, chill, and seismic lvl3 in choke points. If you're only altar farming you only do the 28th boss to get invitations. If you're boss rushing (maven) you need to kill the boss(es).

at t14+ you always kill the map boss to advance towards the end game bosses. probably already said. You can put in a full stack of scarabs in the map device, so you don't need to constantly add them one at a time. The stuff added by oils are considered 'enchantments' which are separate from a lot of other modifiers that you could apply to gear. So you COULD have all of this, then either synthesize for different implicit (the line below your enchant) or vaal to have a chance of an implicit. The thing where you were dying was dding burning ground. There's a uh... the menu from hitting the y key >.< Those god powers. There's one which make you immune to the burning ground. Psssst. Auras.

Some tips for blight. When you start blight you haveicons at the bootom of your screen that show the simmoning portals ,if they have that icon anove them similar to a sun , it means it will summon a boss, if it turnz red durri g the encounter the boss it's summoned.

i love blight, so here are some tips, try to place towers in thight places or the path were the monster cross, use ice tower + ciesmic + suport tower, all close together ONLY until upgrade 3 for infinit stunn and fire tower to upgrade 4 (meteor tower) for damage, the oils is were the money come from and the golden oil is 1 divine, not 1 caos :) oh edit here: dont go far from the towers or they will stop working

Blight League was loads of fun. But as you found out, you can't just use one or two types of towers. And always reset the portal location to some out of the way corner but close to your pump, as you saw. There are mobs that are resistant to certain towers, so a boss that is resistant will just walk right by and crush you. I would generally go about 1 screen away from the pump and set some freeze, fire, and minion towers to start in a large radius around the pump, but after that I'd mostly focus on the towers near the pump, getting a good selection of everything and maxing them out. During that league I was playing a Volatile Dead build, so I just sent fireballs all over depending on what got close. Take "Cassias pride" on the atlas tree. You will do less damage to monsters, but your tower will deal 300% dmg.
