Never wanted to everyday carry a big bore revolver until watching the movie FASTER. I'm sure it's a super Redhawk Alaskan 2.5

I have 5inch 460 taurus raging hunter and sw 500 4inch. I love big bore revolvers.

I would imagine that some of the Buffalo Bore or Underwood .45 Colt+P would be a good woods round with all you need with less recoil.

I have shot 357 and 44 mags some and it is like you say. You practice and you will eventually get used to even really hot loads. I´ve never fired a 455 C or a 460 mag but I guess it is the same deal. Do it for a while and it will be ok (or at leas ok-ish). Obviously a 9mm is easier to control but hey so is a 22... every caliber has it´s purpose. Nobody should get passive aggressive or throw comments around about how impropriate this or that gun/caliber is for this or that use. That´s just borderline stupidity. To each it´s own. I have the 460V. Even with 360 grain Underwood solid, it's manageable.

I’d rather have the 460 over the 500 just bc of the other calibers you can use in it.

Thanks for the info, I ordered a 460v and have been waiting for it to come in. I have shot a lot of 357 and 44, looking forward to learning a new caliber. I was in pd for many years and carried a revolver. Outshot many semi-autos. Being proficient is key.

I've wanted the 3.5" ever since getting the 10.5"! Been hunting or years with a 357 maximum contender. That's a great cartridge also wish someone would make more guns in it. Big pistols are so much fun!

I bought a 460V five inch muzzle brake equipped full lug barrel X-frame revolver as my first really big bore from S&W. I bought a 500 S&W magnum also but with a 6.5 inch semi lug ported barrel and it balances so well but weighs the same weight as my 460V.

I own a model 329PD and changed the cylinder from a titanium cylinder to a stainless steel cylinder and got it quad ported so a little more weight from the stainless cylinder. Love it and can shoot Garrett Cartridges of Texas special 44 magnum 310 grain load for 4 inch revolvers.

44 magnum would probably be easier on the ears (in a situation where hearing protection is not being used...ie when sleeping)

Just picked up a 460xvr with the 8.38” barrel. It’s not that bad to shoot. I mainly shoot 9mm out of a hkp2000sk. Mystery loaded it for the first round of shooting with 1 45lc 2 454 and 1 460. Non were anything super crazy. Can’t wait to get it out of jail and get some real rage time with it.

Have you Measured SPL? (sound Pressure Levels) I'm Curious to see the Range of SPL's for different ammo in the 460xvr. I would watch that video.

The Tech Info .PDF for this Revolver has a Picture of a Grizzly Bear. I think i want this Revolver buy i am concerned about Permanent Hearing Loss using it in a Self Defense Scenario where i fire off 5 rounds at a bear in my sleeping area.
