If you reduce Etna's "Likeability" level with Laharl, Flonne, and Sicily to "dislike" (by having Etna repeatedly kill them), then after defeating Xenolith's first form in the second last stage of episode 10: "The Eternal Netherworld", you'll be presented with an option to choose this ending, similar to how you could choose to have Etna kill Maderas in Disgaea HoD if you killed enough ally units...

I asked Etna about it, but she just grabbed my antennae and said that she's always been powerful enough to handle her true magical potential and that Xenolith should never have removed her power in the first place... Then she apparently felt the need to demonstrate her regained powers by using her Ultimate Skill: Dead End Chaos on me... :P

No only humans can become a prinny laharl can become a prinny because he is half human. So anyone else like flonne or etna would just die.

tallguy7890giant spoiler. Etna's brother came back as a prinny. How do you know that etna won't do the same?

tru2mysef it is true that he came back, but this statement of him coming back as a prinny doesn't seem likely. At best it is up to player's interpretation of how he came back. Except it is very unlikely for etna's brother to become a prinny for the fact that he is also a full blooded demon. It also doesn't really say if he actually died which this is my interpretation. Also if he did die at best he would probably come back in a way similar to laharl's father not in a way that is similar to laharl's mother. It is all based on opinion and interpretation so not everything will be exactly as they are. Well I stated my honest view and hope for the best for you also.

Well, it is possible for demons to transmigrate into demons in Disagea 1, but while I could her brother being changed into a Prinny as a punishment, she died. And it was confirmed she died. I don't think she's coming back.

I know this is an old comment, but demons can ABSOLUTELY come back as prinnies, dood. In fact, it's a gameplay mechanic in Disgaea 2. Not a particularly in-depth one, but still.

Well, if you choose to continue observing Etna, then you'll get the ending in this video, but if you choose to not continue observing Etna, you'll move on to the second fight with Xenolith... but from there you could get one of two possible endings: the normal ending (where Etna survives) if you manage to defeat Xenolith, or the "Sicily's Sacrifice" ending if you loose to Xenolith... Ha Ha! If you ask me though, Flonne's usually way off most of the time :P

Err... well, Flonne keeps insisting that it has something to do with "The Power of Friendship", or some ridiculous nonsense like that... She says that because Etna kept attacking her, Sicily, and I, that Etna lost the power that our friendship was giving her, and that's why she got this ending... Flonne says that in the good ending, Etna maintained her friendship with us, and according to her, that's why Etna had the strength to absorb her magical power without being destroyed...

Nobody ever considers this possibility When Laharl takes out the artifact at Xehnoliths supposed death that maybe just maybe the power didn't comes out like a broken dam (unlike when etna broke it) but more like a leaky faucet slowly giving her more power but before she could get all the power the incident in Disgaea 2 happened which lead to her joining your party in that game

Yup. It's pure speculation, but I'm guessing Xenolith had something to do with her surviving in the good ending, maybe all the artifact going berserk stuff ended up spending some of Etna's lethal magic as well, up to a point where she could stand the "remaining dosage", or maybe in this ending she broke the entire thing like you said - i mean, in the good ending the Netherworld slowly returns to normal in the credits with the flowers disappearing and all, but here it happens almost instantly: Also, the visual effect of the power coming back to Etna is completely different from what we see in the canon ending, it seems MUCH WORSE here.

I meant the ending in which they choose to not continue observing Xenolith. (OOC: Conceded on second point, I suppose. The series always seems to try and prove Flonne right.)

(OOC: Impressive ICnes, BTW!) Firstly, why does Etna survive in the ending where she attacks so much yet doesn't kill Xenolith? Second, take the scenario where Etna alienates Flonne and Laharl but not Sicily. Why should that be enough to stop it? It really shouldn't. Third, if you don't believe Flonne Laharl then you should concede plot hole, shouldn't you? Can you explain it, Laharl?

Becouse in that ending Etna _is_ strong enough to endure the power of her own magic.

Ha Ha! How am I supposed to know? Hmmm... well, maybe it's more about "why" Etna attacked us... maybe she had some "serious issues" or something, and in the bad ending she took out her anger on us instead of dealing with her problems... XD Maybe in the good ending she saw a psychologist at some point before the fight with Xenolith and resolved her "issues", which is why she had the strength and mental resolve to absorb her magical power without being destroyed XD

I'm kind of surprised that there's no indication that she became a prinny after dying, like Laharl does on the bad ending of D:HoD... I guess the magic power burned her soul itself, so she wasn't able to be reborn...

+FlamerXMagofire01 I guess there is another explaination. Laharl was half demon and half human, so he COULD be reborn as a prinny, while Etna was a demon and COULDN'T do that. Moreover, she didn't commit any grave sin to be punished for, so there was no need in reborning her.

FlamerXMagofire01 The game itself doesn;t reveal all possible grave sins, soooo... As far as the game tells, she didn't do anything extremely serious. I guess, life of a demon is not a sin after all =D

Wild_Serval Yeah, only the saddism against the Prinnies, but even then, it's also implied that Netherworld Prinnies are there _becouse_ they'll be abused, unlike Celestia Prinnies, so... Guess you're right again XD

(OOC: Thanks!) Do you mean "Sicily's Sacrifice" or the normal ending? In "Sicily's Sacrifice" the artifact is never destroyed, so the magical power is never transferred to Etna... You're right about your second point, but when I mentioned it to Flonne, she said something like: "don't underestimate the power of friendship and love", whatever that means... Huh? Concede?! The Overlord never concedes!! Although, I do occasionally break the fourth wall XD

PLOT HOLE. Why does Etna hold it together in the other ending but not this one? Substantively speaking there is very little difference- a little more XP, a litte more resolve. Unless you're postulate that she's at margins where a little makes a lot of difference, this makes no sense. Such is possible but very unlikely.
