The 1989 disappearance of USMC Capt. Shirley Russell, and the joint FBI - NIS investigation of her husband, former USMC Capt. Robert Russell. Unravel the mystery alongside the FBI's greatest law enforcers and forensic scientists.
#TheFBIFiles #TrueCrime #Marine
Season 3 Episode 7: On a cold afternoon in 1989, Marine Captain Shirley Russell failed to report for duty at the base in Quantico, Virginia. Friends and colleagues were certain she had not gone AWOL. FBI agents noticed her husband, a former Marine, was acting strangely. A blood-like stain in the couple's home disappeared before it was properly examined. There was no body, no witness and no weapon.
The FBI Files is an American docudrama that takes a look behind the scenes of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's crime laboratory.
Real FBI cases are recounted through reenactments and interviews, due to the sensitive nature of the show, viewer discretion is advised.

"white people are not the only ones who kill black people." No, but they sure do get away with it often; and no concern given to this fact. This story is an exception to the truth. And most are defensive to it as well; as your comment has shown. Thankfully, this story was an exception to the (historical) rule. May he rot! And blessings upon those who allowed justice to be more important than ethnicity. If only the rest of the world had the same standard for all mankind.

Charlene Fergus i bet that he had gotten fed up dealing with the family stuff and having kids around and decided to make his way out of this on his own. I think that he was a lady’s man coning them into relationships where it was planned he’d be the main beneficiary! But somehow Sherlie’s character got him fixated on her and she represented everything that he craved for in terms of pursuing military carrier and moral purity, everything that he had lost and lacked, so he just couldn’t let a woman - the kind he never showed respect to-have all that and by leaving him prove him right into his face that he’s being a total loser! Plus being a control freak and manipulative he just couldn’t stand being dumped whereas in his mind he is the one who dumps his partner not vise verse

My ex Husband was just like him, how I got away was that I told him that I needed a break after we had a terrible fight and I didn’t felt like it was safe to sleep there that night and left and then I got a lawyer in Florida who served him in New Hampshire. Thank God I didn’t do it there because he came looking for me after that. I could write a book about my experience with that man. But here it is that’s just a reverse because I’m alive. That’s why I always watch these documentaries to remind myself of how happy I am to be alive.

This was April 2011.Here in February 2020 I stand on solid ground, safe and I Thank my God for keeping through that whole ordeal and He keeps me still.I don't bother the man in question.I don't wanna "prove" anything to him.I simply want to live my life.....this how you win out over people and situations meant to leave you for dead.YOU go on and live slash enjoy what is left of the life they had hoped and went to great lengths to deny you.

So he was cheating on his wife...then asked his mistress who was cheating on her husband to have an affair with him cheating on his wife, to follow his wife around to prove..".that woman was cheating on me , damn it"...? And this is a special part - the woman cheating on her husband to have an affair with the guy cheating on his wife and was gonzo enough to believe she was cheating - thought this was reasonable and went ahead and followed the totally innocent woman around. Like that's some special kind of fucked up.

A lot of men think that if a woman wants to leave, she must be cheating. They can't imagine that a woman may have a life of her own that isn't about men. So if she doesn't want it from him any more, she must be getting it from someone else. The idea that other things matter more than sex doesn't seem to occur to some people.

As a marine captain, her issued side arm is locked up in an arms room. She doesn't have access to it until she goes to a range for weapons qual, weapons cleaning or gearing up and issue for a deployment. She wouldn't have it at her personal quarters. That would constitute a federal offense and potentially her ultimate discharge. Which I'm not sure she would risk her career.

I remember watching a TV movie about USMC Capt. Shirley Russell’s death. It was Jasmine Guy who portrayed her, if I’m not mistaken. In the movie, they never convicted Robert Russell bcz they never found her body. Very sad. He took away a wonderful and intelligent woman who worked her butt off to make it to the top just bcz he was intimidated by her success.

I wondered. She trusted him. He killed her. That's awful all by itself. I'm not into skincolor, or lady marines but she should have had much better protection as a marine. I had better protection as a civil servant in the Norwegian military system from the 1990ties till the beginning of 2000.

He couldn't stand the fact she was a better officer than he was. Instead of celebrating her success, he was full of resentment and jealousy. When your spouse win's you both win. And ladies, if your planning to leave, don't tell him your leaving. Wait until he's at work, then you leave him. It's safer that way.

Logically, when performing the polygraph test he consented to and failed twice, the detectives were not interested in utilising its finding in court but rather its findings were an indication and confirmation that he was being deceptive and he should be the main focus of her disappearance. As usual even though he was being abusive due to his failures and insecurities, he did not understand why she wanted to leave him. I do believe he would be jealous of her success, being a black woman and not wanting him again - like how dare she think she can do better than me, well she could until his jealousy and insecurities added to his dimwitted actions of ending her life course. Sandy, did not realise at the time that he was just using her because there is no way I could be dealing with you and your ex is in anyway on your mind - that would end with them in 'dumps ville' and I would look for someone who has better things to do with their time than obsess over past relationships.

I was born in 1989, I'm always amazed about the level of evilness that has been going on even before I was due in this world. I know this must seem naive, but what is more naive for me, it's the fact that my parents didn't prepare me for such world. My upbringing had been tainted as if only goodness runs in our lives and in our world.

Saltnpeppanatural that’s a ridiculous statement. So someone can vow to spend the rest of their life with you, protect you, love you, defend you and be your protector, but if they end up harming you it’s race based?! Cmon dude. All kinds of spouses kill their spouses. Nothing to do with race. There are endless reasons that ppl kill their spouses... maybe they brushed their teeth the wrong way. Stop fucking focusing on race.
