These are actually really great questions. The HTV Anything turns heat transfer vinyl, which is normally used for tshirts or apparel, into a sticker. The reason we make decals this way rather than using permanent adhesive vinyl are: 1. The glitters for htv are much more sparkly and vibrant than the glitters on adhesive vinyl. 2. These are dishwasher safe. 3. You can break some of the typical layering 'rules' and layer glitter htv on top of glitter htv when making these decals. You can even layer hotfix rhinestones on top of the glitter htv on these, as we do for our full rhinestone tumbler wraps! Glitter adhesive vinyl can be very pretty and work great for outdoor use. These decals are not meant for car windows, simply because htv is not rated for prolonged outdoor use. The decals on these tumblers hold up incredibly well! Great questions! HTV Anything is the material that you press htv to and it creates it into a decal. You can even press stones on top as your final layer if you like since it's not on a garment. Vinyl Shield is indeed the top layer, but it's not needed with things like above listed. Vinyl Shield you'd use in an offset as your top layer with things you want to protect of permanent adhesive vinyl, such as opals that scratch easily, or very fine delicate designs, or even printed vinyl like Matt used it for on one of Jax's baseball helmets with their logo. There are no dumb questions :) For car decals, we have a lot of different permanent vinyls under our ColorSpark line. The Permanent vinyls are inexpensive and decals made with these are great for cars. We also have Reflective adhesive vinyl which have an amazing reflective quality, perfect for car windows. Not at all, we love questions!! The HTV Anything will suffice, no shield needed. For vinyl shield we like to use it on delicate things such as opals and finely cut designs, etc. But since the htv is already secured to the HTV Anything, no further protection is needed. :-) -TRW Crystal

It depends a touch on what you're using. If you're wanting to use an opal for example, they scratch very easily, so you'd be best applying our Vinyl Shield over the top. Aside from that, a decal will last many years with a little care (no ice scrapers, lingering on them at the car wash, etc) -TRW Crystal

That's a great question! Since these stickers or decals are going on a smooth, hard surface like a mug or tumbler, they can go through the dishwasher. We have decals we've had on tumblers for over 3 years with no issues and even have a video here on our KZfaq channel testing one of these going through the dishwasher with our GoPro! You can and that's what we did here. Or you can trim it down with scissors after you've pressed everything. If you do cut the design into the HTV Anything first, do an offset or contour so that it's a bit bigger than your first layer of htv. It helps with lining things up. -TRW Pilar

Nothing we teach on is meant for consumption nor qualifies for requiring FDA approval. Please never put vinyl on a surface that will touch food. When we decorate tumblers or mugs with this, we leave plenty of room so that the vinyl will not be placed in a person's mouth. -TRW Pilar

Only on decals can you layer glitter. :) Our HTV Anything decal material turns your glitter htv into a sticker. And since it's going on a smooth, hard surface, not apparel, you don't get that twisting about or water hitting it from behind, which both cause layered glitter to lift. -TRW Pilar

Hi there! First off, no vinyl is food safe, so please do not use any kind of vinyl on a surface that will come into contact with food. Htv stands for heat transfer vinyl, which is normally used for shirts and apparel. We created HTV Anything, which is sticky on the back, similar to Adhesive or Sign Vinyl, but with incredibly strong adhesive. You can press your htv to it to create these decals, which opens up a whole new world of materials you can decorate tumblers with. These decals are dishwasher safe, unlike most Adhesive Vinyl, which will lift and fall off in a dishwasher. Do you come to our weekly free Live trainings?
