Disney very recently made some changes to their Disability Access Services program - often referred to as a DAS pass at Disney World and Disney Land. We’re going to talk about why this happened, what it means for you, and what else is going on at Disney.
Note: this interview was taped BEFORE the changes took place.

We’re also spending some time talking about a new service for doctors called Glucosepath and about a new surprising study about cortisol and diabetes. I’ll also explain how these two guests can talk about all of these issues..
Len Testa is co host of the fabulous Disney Dish podcast and the creator of Touring Plans the app and service of The Unofficial Guides to Walt Disney World, Disneyland and Disney Cruise Line. Testa is all about the math of theme parks - his guides are there to maximize the magic as he says - to make your waits shorter and save money - and it’s all based on calculations from his team.
He teamed up with endocrinologist Dr. Bradly Eilerman to create GlucosePATH which uses computer science and clinical data to evaluate every possible treatment option, using data from the patient, FDA, and peer-reviewed journals, in just a few seconds.
Dr. Eilerman also talks about the Catalyst study which looks at people with type 2 diabetes and measures cortisol.

When you initially call is only a cast member that is on the video call. If the CM needs assistance to see if the person qualifies then they might call in a health professional. If you are approved for the DAS pass you manage it by an app. on your phone. CM does not give you a return time. It's all through the app and it's not a shorter line. You wait outside the line the same amount of time the standby line is. So if the line is 2 hours you will get a return time for 2 hours on the app. Please do your research before giving out the wrong information. Many disabled are getting caught in this mess and it has been mentally and emotionally exhausting and very hard to deal with on top of the already disability that they might have.

Purchasing Genie + also requires you to wait, on average much longer than the standby wait times. There is no instant skip the line service for anyone, so please don’t get defensive with this “we still have to wait” nonsense. You know full well that getting to go off to a store, a restaurant, even another ride with a short standby time is not the same as “waiting” with standby. It means you get to go enjoy other things until you’re called back, which is also the point of Genie +. The only differences between the two is that DAS riders are allowed to get callbacks for each ride more than once whereas Genie + is limited to once per day, and DAS return times are at “X time and after” -meaning for the remainder of the day if needed- instead of a one-hour window. The major issue is that “those who need it” has been so arbitrary and abused due to self-reporting that they’ve had to reel this program (which they don’t have to offer at all) in to the extreme to curb the massive abuse. Consider that 60% of lightning lane entry was due to DAS users and DAS usage increased by 300% (a 4x increase) in just a few short years since genie + was implemented, it is more than obvious that people were lying and abusing the system to avoid paying for genie + instead of being honest. That means we can’t trust the majority of people who claim to need DAS to properly self report. It is sad that so many people would lie to save a relatively small amount of money and, in doing so, harming the smaller percentage of people who actually need it. It’s selfish and wrong, and I fully support Disney in this crackdown.
