I don't get how everyone is saying that Disney isn't consistant in writing, when they're writing consistantly crappy stories.

It would have been interesting for Leia to be a prissy empire loving little girl but through all the hardships she sees in this journey it plants the seeds of her understanding that the empire isn’t great and hurts people. Writers do not understand character development.

It's actually depressing to think about all the effort that Disney has put into ruining this franchise.

Disney has definitely forgotten about how anger, fear, and hate all lead to the dark side. Just look at Rey--how many times does she get incredibly angry, screaming in rage, with no consequences? Also, I never noticed this but, why does Leia know she's adopted? Why would Bail or anyone that knew the truth tell her that?

i think the thing that pisses me off the most in this episode is the first time we see Kenobi ignite his lightsaber is out of fear, not in order to protect Leia, not to finally giving in to Vader torturing innocents, but because he got jump scared by a loud noise.

I think Disney is gonna get to a point where they uncanonize the original trilogy and replace it for something with the quality of the sequels.

C'mon that little girl is awful.. I'm so sick of little kids knowing everything. That is not how kids are, what's the point of growing up if we're all born brilliant and have nowhere to go but down?

Disney is actually impressive in its ability to turn one of the most memorable and fear inspiring antagonists in cinematic history into just another "generic bad guy" that messes up in ways that even you or I would handle better. All in the name of promoting shitty new characters that seem like they were written by a child...

The stormtrooper on the transport scene is a great example of how they really couldn’t have given this script any thought at all. It would be so simple to write it so those particular stormtroopers weren’t assigned to look for the Jedi, that they were doing something else. You’d still have tension until that’s revealed or maybe you don’t even reveal it at all. But this show seems to go out of its way to raise basic questions that are never addressed, let alone answered. Like how they’ve treated Star Wars since they bought it, it feels like the people responsible for one installment are not given the full details about the other installments. When you show in the previous episode that there are images of Obi Wan floating around to people trying to capture him, the audience is going to note that and then wonder how others can’t recognize him later on. This is so basic that I really can’t imagine that anyone who was aware of the previous episode would write it like this on purpose. It’s like they assigned different people to each episode and only gave them the most basic description of the overall story.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't Obi-wan and Vader supposed to meet on the death star for the first time since the third film?

I just remembered something. When Leia calls Obi-Wan for help in Episode 4 she says he served her father years ago during the Clone Wars (which technically is true) but it never sounded like she new him personally (because she didn't). If she called an old friend for help don't you think she'd say something like "remember the old times? That's exactly why I need you"?

The thing that shits me off is that Leia is literally a marked man in this series; she's linked to Obi Wan and there's no way in the universe that Darth Vader wouldn't use that to get to Obi Wan; he would literally pursue her and her family to the ends of the galaxy to get to him. But for some stupid reason, The Emperor tells him to let it go, and he just does.

It's funny how many people said "Vader was cool in this show because of how evil he was" Vader is cold, calculated, a murderer, and a manipulator, all is viewed as evil but to him it's a means to an end for power, vader doesn't kill indiscriminately or torture out of anger, his anger was controlled after it was his downfall against obi-wan. He can actively use his emotions to gain power without the caveat of an unclear mind, that is the power of the dark side.

This show is a nostalgia bukkake for people with room temperature IQ. Look at everybody defending it and you’ll know it to be true.

The Kenobi show is like a friend you wanna defend but they do so much dumb shit you can't keep defending them.

This show didn't just turn Vader into a joke, but the Empire as a whole. I just completely lost it when they went in the extra mile of making a 'trophy room' for dead Jedi. They even put the corpse of a youngling in there just to really drive in the point that "these guys are evil in case you didn't know!" And it has all the subtlety and nuance of a sledgehammer hitting you right in the face.

Kenobi is probably the last Disney Star Wars (TM) show I have the patience to watch. If I wanted comically bad sci-fi shows I’d renew my cable CW subscription

Disney already succeed at ruining Vader by making his entire story built up in the first six films a total joke thanks to their garbage Sequels. Chop that up with wiping out his entire family bloodline and having his name stolen by the granddaughter of the man he died in vain to destroy.

I have watched almost every piece of Star Wars media until this show. I couldn’t make it past the third episode. It physically hurt me to watch my favorite universe and one of my favorite characters be butchered like this. I am furious with Disney for doing this.

They might as well have had young Leia defeat both Reva and Vader with Yoda's light saber then use Force Heal on them, the strain of which causes her to fall into a coma after which she experiences acute memory loss related to the events of the series if they wanted to play this fast and lose with continuity.

Finally someone mentions The Path. The fact that there are numerous force sensitive younglings destroys the character of any Jedi that is alive during the empire because they should have been training the younglings this entire time.

I'm really starting to get tired of the "jedi hiding from the empire but still doing good stuff" trope. We have so many of these stories now, it's no longer as if the entire jedi order was wiped out with order 66. It feels like it was just the council and a couple younglings. "That boy is our last hope." "No, there is another. And the ginger kid. And Grogu. And Ahsoka. And master Junda. And some of the inquisitors can be turned back. And that other jedi you met a few years back. And that kid from bad batch. Somehow, Master Mundi returned."

Hayden and Ewan seemed like the only two people who had any passion for this travesty. It was a joy to watch them act against each other again, even if the writing and dialogue was terrible. Their performances were the only thing I liked in this series, although that's probably just the memberberries kicking in...

"We might actually get something good." This really is the problem. Everything else is secondary. Until audiences start rejecting bad films and television instead of defending it, it's just going to get worse and worse. Why bother with the effort needed to do something well if you can do it half-assed and sell it just as easily? The only reason Disney would ever even consider putting out quality content again is if audiences demanded it. And they won't.

I can’t fully express why, but the feeling of terror and exhilaration that I get from seeing Darth Vader on screen was completely and utterly missing from this show. I don’t know how Disney continues to misuse the best characters in the Star Wars IP. Truly baffling.

There was actually a third option Vader could have used to get through the fire at Obi-Wan....... And it would have been the coolest thing that could have happened. Vader's suit is fireproof. He lives on a lava planet for fucksake! Imagine how cool it would have been to see him walk through the fire! 👀 Yes, his cape could have burned up but the rest of his armor should have been fine. But of course, the writers of the show never read the comics. Even those written under Disney.

The whole time I was watching this series I kept thinking to myself "Well that doesn't align with the OT" over and over again. The content is all there for them. You would think this would be difficult to jack up but man do they do it. I do not understand how anyone can defend these shows that Disney is carelessly pumping out. The only reason I appreciate (on some small level) that the Kenobi series exists--to listen to Robot Head and other KZfaqrs break down JUST HOW STUPID this story is. I was literally laughing at my television when the stormtroopers said they were looking "for a Jedi," but had zero additional information, when just an episode before, Reva texted a freakin' image of Kenobi to random bounty hunters. And the fire scene...dear Lord! This is fan fiction at its worst...but it is hilarious!

The gate scene was like the toll scene in Blazing Saddles where they turn around to get dimes even though there was a wide open desert around the toll booth. Except Mel Brooks knew it was dumb.

Thank you for confirming everything I was thinking while watching this show. They totally fucked my favorite character. They understand nothing about this franchise. It's not about being overly serious about Star Wars, it's about having zero expectations and still being disappointed. The writing is akin to a middle school play.

What bothers me most is that the original script was actually a lot better, and it was supposed to be a cinematic movie trilogy, so much potential, reva was supposed to die, obi wan was gonna go to Mustifar, and more Vader would be in it since it would be a movie trilogy. so much potential wasted.

As I've been saying for awhile now, a story is only is as good as its writers and Disney is infamous for hiring the WORST out there, almost as if they only look onboard a short bus. ... what's even worse than that though is Disney also believes that these writers can only make smart new characters is if they make everyone around them look dumber than a sack of rocks.

I think it's unfair to say that the CGI artists or the editors didn't give a shit. It's way more likely that they weren't given enough time.

You know there's a drought of competent writers in Hollywood when a company that got rich and famous for it animated masterpieces now just buys up other properties and still can't dig gold out of them. I feel like we are approaching the death of Star Wars as a franchise, and I don’t know whether I’m relieved that it won’t suffer much longer or sad that it is passing. There aren’t too many legacy characters left for them to destroy and they couldn’t launch a new character to save their life, so where does the franchise go from here? All that’s left for Disney is to drive a lightsaber through the Old Republic’s chest and we’re done, right? Then again, I heard those aren’t lethal anymore

There are so many departments giving this show their all, and the story group just out and about smelling the flowers and the leadership is just out to lunch it feels.

They really dropped the ball with the Obi Wan vs Vader fight, like you mentioned as far as passion goes. I think back to Afro Samurai vs Kuma where it's revealed that Kuma had tears in his eyes the entire time they were fighting. And while he fought Afro he screamed in agony about everything that he perceived Afro took from him. Would have been great to hear Vader do the same, as his fixation on Obi-wan is partly because of this, and also because he wants to sever his old bonds, but still, it was always passion that motivated Anakin to become Vader. I understand that the things and people he was passionate about are no longer around, but he could have still still felt passion and showed some sith hatred for the man who took everything, even three of his limbs, and left him to die. This Vader should have been a continuation of the one from the end of Episode 3 where he finds out Padme is dead and destroys everything via force energy. If this was the case then the scene where Vader killed civilians indiscriminately wouldn't have looked like a typical Sunday for our Sith, and made more sense (he'll kill anyone to get to Obi Wan).

Here we have, a group of soldiers that wear helmets that probably would block out their voices, thus they could turn off the helmet speakers and speak internally through inter-com with eachother and their larger unit. It would've been completely within the stormtroopers' rule book to give their targets a false sense of security to then at a later point ambush them when their reinforcements arrive. Like Obi-wan could've gotten to their destination only for the stormtroopers to rise up and block their path as more and more troopers arrive. Now Obi gotta think of a genious way out that doesn't involve risking Laya's life, we make the situation more thrilling without even making the enemy dumb and even less Obi-wan... bam, that whole episode saved.

I don’t understand why Disney makes it so everything has to connect and be on Tatooine and be of the same characters meeting/fighting. When the show was first announced, I assumed it would be about Obi-Wan’s journeys traveling with Qui-Gon before episode 1 or his early years as a Jedi Knight between episodes 1 and 2

Every single time Disney pumps out a fire character and destroys him it takes a bit of my soul (not that I have any left) I’m just disappointed in the writing and not only that the show just looks dry. Not intriguing by a bit. Andor looks like it has incredible cinematography and that’s what I want in star wars on top of other things.

I know that a lot of people like how powerful Vader is in the show, but I honestly kind of dislike it. It’s so over-the-top; it’s like I’m watching the live action equivalent of a cartoon.

The Gate scene really bothered me way more than it should. Was the dumbest Star Wars Moment ever to me but then I started to remember the movies that my brain is trying to forget.

There's been a 2-hour-long fan-edit made for the series that's absolutely worth your time. It's not only had a ton of the crap edited out, but it's obviously turned the show into a full fledged movie instead. It's fantastic, the work that went into it. There's scenes that have been brought back from the prequel trilogy to establish certain shots, and callbacks to moments that make some scenes feel more organic. Then there's the only flashback scene in the series - it's now been edited into the final fight, instead of randomly in the show. I would seriously recommend giving it a go. The YT video on it is called "I Turned Obi-Wan Kenobi Into A Movie (and you can watch it)". The dude deserves a spot of attention, for sure.

At this point, hiring a guy off the street with a good idea and the love of Star Wars to write one of their shows would be an embarrassment to them. Even letting anime weebs give it a go made a bunch of people go "well, that was better than solo..." All we have is excuses and attempts to appeal to the audience by scaring them that they might be racist for not liking the show. It's like the end of a clockwork orange.

13:00 I really wish Vader walked through the fire, Sephiroth-style. It would have been so badass, even if he went across and they were already gone. I mean, if you Google whether is suit is fireproof, you get this : "Vader wore a black ribbed, padded, multi-ply body glove that covered everything below his neck. This flexible, quilted suit was blast-dampening, and was made of a **fireproof** material that provided some protection against flames and corrosive gasses." The writers/filmmakers were too lazy to even take 2 seconds to check this. Instead we just get a pointless shot of him... just standing there... menacingly.

I remember how excited everyone was when the news that Disney was gonna buy Star Wars from George Lucas because the Prequels sucked so much in comparison to the OT. How naive were we in hindsight to the absolute garbage we would end up seeing.

This is *STANDARD WRITING* now. Let that sink in.

Another golden episode. Do they let like their kids write the show? And is there not a single person in Hollywood with the balls to stand up and say, "um after reading this script, I have some concerns like a few glaring plot holes." I mean shit I had 7th grade students write as well as this and that is not a compliment.

I only watched the fan edit of Kenobi that cut the series down to movie length, and I still couldn't finish it. It's still awful.

That episode where the undercover girl who I forgot the name of managed to sneak in the inquisitor fortress and avoid 23 sure death scenarios was classic Disney at play.

Reva is literally stabbed in the stomach and in the brink of death. Somehow fully healed, went to space and landed to Tatooine to -kill- unalive Luke, for which she knew about because Organa said in the hologram "take care of the other kid", huh.
