Good line. My only critique is that your grammar is too proper. It would be more appropriate in context to use "don't need no audience" to emphasize their ignorance.

Disney squandered our love of movies because they decided to use their films as a platform to preach to the audience as opposed to entertaining them.
@rbu2136
@rbu2136 8 ай бұрын
Took shows with overwhelmingly male audience and intentionally changed them to be female centric believing they would double the audience. Massive error. No one wants to watch preachy girl bosses replacing male heroes. That’s why WNBA does poorly. Women don’t watch sports. Women don’t watch comic book scifi films. That’s what guys watch. Not women. Disney with its massive research knowledge knows this. They are doing this intentionally because they feel the woke audience will materialize.

It's not even the preaching that's the main issue. Prwacj8ng or not, the movies are crap! There's nothing wrong with a movie with a message, but the movie itself also needs to be excellent and entertaining and the "message" woven through the movie naturally and organically, rather than hamfisted.

Nah that's BS. These people are greedy. All they care about is profit. They were dumb enough to think they could insert THE MESSAGE and it wouldn't effect their bottom line. How that happened is up for speculation but someone undoubtedly got in the ear of the Bob Iger's and higher ups and convinced them this is what "modern audiences" want.

I don't buy this grand plan stuff, it can be pretty easily explained by long term managerial incompetence and loading the company with diverse young college grads that not only have no particular interest in or connection to the properties they're put in charge of, but also see themselves as activist-protagonists much more than workers. Once they're in they're hard to get rid of, even when it's obvious they're dragging down the ship. If there's any grand plan to all of this it probably involves tanking Disney's value so their legacy IP can be rolled into another megacorp's library.

I believed that as well for a while, but I no longer do. I think the decision makers are genuinely completely ignorant and detached from reality. There is no hidden agenda (it's completely transparent after all) - It simply isn't working. And they have surrounded themselves with like-minded individuals/ yes-men to the point that they don't even understand what's happening anymore. I'm sure there are tons of people at Disney and other big studios who do get it, but they would get fired for telling their superiors.

If you have even a small family, going to see a movie at matinee prices still costs more than a month of any of the streaming services. At that price, I have to want to see the movie, want to support the companies involved, and want the social experience of seeing the movie among other people. Disney has been doing an awesome job of blowing all three, and keeping people like me at home watching older movies and television shows for free. And occasionally, watching movies from streaming services that- (gasp!) actually seemed to want *me* to watch them.

General consensus is that Marvel peaked with End Game,I am actually of the opinion that it peaked with Infinity War. Even then,the rot had already set in, Black Panther had signalled the direction as to where things were headed. I remember when Martin Scorsese came out with his theme park analogy and the MS media was all over him like a rash.He had articulated perfectly what lot of us had already thinking for a few years . Just a few months after ,I watched Chris Gore on Film Courage expanding on this to include the Star Wars/Star Trek brands and the PC/ESG phenomena, saying this would not just be isolated to these franchises but was already an industry wide pandemic. This is when I started hoarding up on physical Blu-Rays and DVDs of older films because cinema as I knew it ,was dying... 4 years later , here we are..I have only been to the cinema for 3 movies this year M:I Dead Reckoning Part 1 Oppenheimer(obviously) The Creator.. The only other movie I regret not watching on the big screen was Equalizer 3 ( have it on 4K though) ... apart from a few more , the rest of the trash, I am just like "whatever mate" .

Those are the correct questions. ESG, Environmental Social Governance Grading, is the other part. The leverage is large-amount short-term lending of funds and financial services. The primary culprits are Blackrock and it's CEO Fink, WEF and Klaus Schwab. Vanguard supposedly dropped DEI. That's the short list, but many other players and names. Midnight's Edge, Valiant Renegade, WDW Pro, several others have videos in their libraries covering the basics. Lots of info on Blackrock and the other self-appointed and self-anointed "World Oversight Committee" members out there. Same source Gates fills his venom sacs from.

It is very hard for Marvel execs to diagnose the problem when the problem is they don't have a clue what they're doing, and the solution is fire them immediately and replace them with someone who does. We often talk about these studios just making a different choice, just make a different creative choice, but that's really like saying, the shooting guard for the LA Lakers needs to start choosing for all his three pointers to go in the net. It's more than a choice, it's talent and the ability to do the job.

FWIW, I noticed that Disney has hired marketers to skew the reviews. The 'verified' have given it an unrealistic grade. The shills who'll write positive reviews for $50 have given it a positive grade. The reviewers who do it for a living have crapped all over it.

The problem Disney has right now is this: The Marvels might be a good movie. I don't know, I haven't seen it. I dropped Marvel at the last episode of She Hulk. I honestly believe She Hulk to be a worse show than Velma even before the final episode, but that last episode was for me, the breaking point. That last episode told me that there was no pride in what the MCU had accomplished, nor any respect for the good work that had gone into the movies prior to it. It told me that this was the attitude Disney was going to take to everything going forward. The fundamental problem with Disney that makes Disney suck, is that nobody at Disney has any basic self-respect. They have self-regard to a narcissistic degree, but no genuine self-respect. Having self-respect means that when you do something, you do it to a standard that you can be proud of. Self-regard, is the smug assurance that you can produce crap and get paid for it anyway. From what I've seen, the MCU has not improved on this score. It has to put down the old to try and prop up the new, because the old was made by people who had self-respect, and the new is made by people who have self-regard. I would need some serious good word of mouth to want to see The Marvels, or any Marvel product at this point. They have produced so much stuff with the idea that they can shovel crap at us and just get paid for it, that I don't think it matters if they change course and make good movies. It isn't that the trust isn't there anymore, it is that it has morphed to a warped trust that what they produce will be bad.

"It's not even race-swapping and gender-swapping. There are ways to do that and do it right." Absolutely goddamned right! Example: _Elementary,_ the Jonny Lee Miller/Lucy Liu update/reboot of Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories. Lucy Liu as Dr. _Joan_ Watson? That's a trade-in for a character to go from 0 to 2 "marginalized victim" classes right there! (From white, cis-gendered, straight male to Asian female.) But it didn't come across like that. Why? Because Dr. _Joan_ Watson wasn't always harping on about what a poor downtrodden victim of the white, cis, straight, male, misogynistic patriarchy she was all the time. She was an interesting character all her own, with strengths and weaknesses, wisdom and foolishness, discernment and obliviousness. She wasn't a sock-puppet mouthpiece self-insert for any particular political/philosophical point of view.

Wow, this film had so many headwinds it never really had a chance. 1st. We can’t forget the pandemic and a lot of the content has been sexless and unable to connect to the human experience from a group creatives that basically shared Baden’s basement. 2nd. We had the Me Too movement, at least when this project was given the green light and after the Amber Heard trial and lack of sexy in 99% of films released lately, it’s getting old. 3rd. We had the rise of DEI, BLM and queer movement brought by the George Floyd death so we have a lot of people hired as writers, directors and talent for their check mark versus the ability to produce a viable profitable movie. 4th, the event mindset post-pandemic, basically people are only going to movies that are event driven like Barbie, Super Mario, Taylor Swift and consuming the rest on streaming. Personally, I think the brand of Feige, Igor and Kennedy is so tarnished and toxic … people are going to pass until Igor dynasty comes to an end.

You know if Disney came out and said “ hey everyone , we are sorry we ruined Marvel , Star Wars , and Pixar . But, we are making DRASTIC changes today” . If they did that I would be back on board . If they had humility and changed , I’d be willing to let the past be the past .

And you'd be a fool. These companies hate your guts, tried desperately to poison you and your kids with degenerate propaganda, and you'd go back to supporting them if they simply put out some fake apology...😂 This is why we live in the demonic world of corruption and evil that we do.

Comic book movies just fell into the same pitfalls as comic themselves did. By a combination of laziness, exploitation, and a fixation of crazy sci-fi concepts like the multiverse, comics increasingly distanced themselves from the children and the "normies" (AKA the ones that allowed them to become mainstream and successful), to increasingly cater to weird people and sci-fi ultra nerds. Normies like my dad enjoyed the first marvel movies : even if the guys had superpowers, their missions and goals were still relatable to a degree. Now, Marvel characters are no longer having human-relatable drama and problems : they are having God-relatable drama and problems. Always handling things at a multi-cosmic level that is simply impossible to get into for most people on this planet. ...To put it shortly : comics increasingly became about fetishes. Comics having much lower production costs, they could survive for pretty long despite this progressive loss of the mainstream audience. Marvel movies, with their crazy budgets, certainly could not. To sum it up, you can't sell billions of products if your audience is weirdos on Twitter. As vocal of those people are, they aren't enough people to actually carry 200M$ projects financially.

That's the problem with going all-in on a political stance over an artistic one. If they just suddenly flip-flop back to what people want, Disney will be essentially admitting that their political stance was all nonsense to begin with... And that could look WAY worse in the long run.

The minute Chris said "Charlie's Angels in Space" it blew my mind. Female cosmic superheroes who are capable, strong, and attractive. POW! Instead MCU females all have the attitude of "Don't you dare find me attractive" - OK, I won't. Money stays in my wallet.

I know he was being facetious about the 'skimpier outfits' solution, but it's actually smart marketing. It's almost as if sex sells or something... And piggy-backing off that, I would absolutely watch 'Charlie's Angel's In Space.' What a pitch! "They are all trying to "out-nice each other" is such an amazing point, that really needs an even deeper dive. I don't think its sexist to call it a girl thing, because it is- at least when left to make their own stuff creatively. It is very much a response to the common complaint that women are always trying to tear each other down. But as stated, "Conflict is interesting." Great discussion

Great vid... totally agree, the issue isnt implementing diversity, its forced implepenting it above all else. Look at Miles Morales in spiderverse films... or the Gen- V show...that intelligently and respectfully handles a diverse cast...but never at the expense of the story. I have read that new MCU book & whilst its clearly a Kevin puff piece, it actually inadvertantly shows what went wrong at Marvel...going into phase 3 they took away all the checks and balances of the New York comittee and installed as number two of Marvel a lady who clearly even before even hired was about the feminist agenda above actual entertainment. Combine that with a writers apprenticeship, pulling kids of zero experience, reading the comics for the first time and pulling and choosing little known marvel characters... often as a conduit to tell the story they wanted to tell, not adapting the comic stories... there was some successes from that period such as Guardian of the Galaxy... but mostly were naff choices, lowering the quality still further of Marvel. I think they need to take a 5 to 7 year break...concentrate on the writing designed for fun and entertainment first and script out all the films above all else and bring back the good directors of Marvels old...the faverou, josses, russo, branaghs to reboot the marvel universe working in stories in the now wider character roster and mixing in x-men, spiderman, fantastic 4 into the mix this time (bypassing any origin stories).
