El Guerrouj - what an outstanding talent and to think that his mile and 1500 world records are still standing since the 1990s. Exceptional.

Imagine an Olympic final 5000m race. Imagine that the three greatest distance runners of all time were in that one race. The greatest 1500m runner, at the very peak of his career. The greatest 5k and 10k runner ever, who is poised for his breakout. And the greatest marathoner of all time, an almost unknown who will one day run the first sub 2 hour marathon. Imagine all three sprinting for Olympic medals over the last 250 meters. Now go to 3:06 and watch it.

I was in a tough battle for 2nd place at a local 10k (winner was about 3 mins ahead and I had long forgotten him). The finish was on a track. With 300 to go I could hear this video in my head and I started to imagine el-g chasing Bekele.... All the fatigue vanished... Sprinting at the end of 10000! And Steve pulls away to win! (2nd).
