I think you mist a part on your video, Due to the fact the inserted part of the distributor only go in one way the cap should be removed and position of the rotter be noted for new distributor or damage may occur during placing the new distributor back in remember the center post will not be in the same position as the old one I think you can understand why

I was unlucky when I opened the distributor to replace the oil seal. One of the big magnets got broken and now the car doesn’t start anymore.what can I do? The only way to get the pin out to Reach the bearing is to hammer it out. That might damage the magnets or the internal circuit. Please help.

@@jvst20051 If it starts up when you spray it (which btw is really bad for the engine, unless you're using 2 stroke gas) that means you have spark and you're having a fuel supply issue. If the fuel pump has good pressure even while cranking, it could be a clogged fuel filter or even bad injectors. You'll have to diagnose the injectors. To do that, take them all out and you can use a 9V battery to fire them. But be careful to not hold them open or you'll burn them out. They're made to fire really fast not stay open for a long time. Hope this helps!

How would I bench test a distributor for this model corolla? A new distributor is $300+ I dont just want to throw parts at it I have replaced the coil on distributor and still not getting spark. How would I check to make sure that the pick up coil is working properly? THANKS!!! :))

I'm not super knowledgeable when it comes to the internals of the distributor... but what I would do is gram your multimeter and test for continuity and resistance. Do some research to see if anyone knows what the proper resistance is. Maybe something's broken or bad.

Hey can I use iridium spark plug? Coz I went to buy and the seller said that my corolla ltouring 2000 it is not suitable for iridium he said that it can damage spark plug cable and computer box is it really?
@AutoFixYT
@AutoFixYT 6 жыл бұрын
Ahmad Muhamad No, it won't damage anything, but putting iridium plugs in it is not necessary as it won't make a difference as opposed to copper plugs. It's just like putting higher octane gasoline vs lower octane. Won't make a difference. So unless you really want to, why not save some money and buy the cheaper plugs that work just as well

Hi there, i am having problems with my corolla 180i 1994 model 7afe engine, it tends to over heat when i do long distances or when i am driving on an uphill climb, i have just recently done my entire engine the mac that done it says that my distributor is 35 degrees advance and its was wrong one for the car i have bought the right one but when i drive like about 250 meters then the engine management comes on and cuts off which then i have to reset the it and start. Would u be able to help me as to any idea why its doing this.......
@AutoFixYT
@AutoFixYT 5 жыл бұрын
Alright so to start of let's talk about the overheating issue. If it overheats on long distances or uphill, then your radiator is clogged. I would get a new radiator, flush the coolant very well, and test both cooling fans and make sure they work well. Also make sure that you bleed the system correctly and have no air pockets. Now for the distributor... I am not familiar with the type of distributor that thus car needs. However, if you are 100% sure that that is the right distributor, then use a spark plug tester and make sure that all the spark plugs have consistent spark. Also make sure that your spark plug wires are plugged into the distributor in their correct holes. There is a chance that the distributor could be defective, but the chances are very small. Make sure ALL your electrical connections are plugged in correctly, you have NO vacuum leaks, and that your battery is at proper voltage. Let me know how this works out!

How easily is the distributor supposed to go back in and do i have to turn the notch inside the engine to line them up or smth??? In the video it went back in really easy, but mine is not... (4efe)
@AutoFixYT
@AutoFixYT 4 жыл бұрын
As long as its lined up properly it should slide right in with minimal wiggling if necessary.the shaft of the distributor has to be positioned to line up with the notch on the cam, and then the housing of the distributor has only one way to go on. Well so does the main shaft but you still have to line it up.

I thought I needed to mark the distributor because on a lot of cars, you can turn the distributor to adjust the timing. So you need it to go back spot on otherwise the car won't run right. Turns out this car doesn't have an adjustment like that.

Wait can u answer my question I can’t figure it out my 97 Corolla failed emissions and it dies if I rev it in park and let go of the gas fast like I have to let go of the gas slowly if I don’t want it to die and I think it idles rough cuz it shakes when starting then goes away but it drives decent and can hit 60 without struggling

Like someone said on earlier, comment some of these early corollas actually DO have the ability to rotate the distributor to adjust timing. I’m wondering what the timing is…?? But I was guessing that’s why you were marking where the cap position was on either side or the bolt position because mine has a bolt on either side. I think you looked for two bolts, but your Toyota only had one 14mm, in front of dist -mine (1993, 1.8 LE) 14 mm on the other side (back, closer to firewall) and slotted holes to mount with the 14’s, so my distributor & timing are definitely adjustable. Please check your vehicle before just throwing in the distributor and driving off. You could end up running ur timing retarded & lean (hot af) and blowing up your motor. Use a timing light not your ear these Japanese motors are very precise they will run longer than a diesel if you are nice!
