In this video, I build the forms to hold the sonotubes/tube forms and cut the rebar that I will wet set into the concrete.

Just started watching your series and looking forward to the build. As a recommendation, I wouldn’t be cutting the rebar so close to your truck. Those sparks ( barbs) will stick into the paint and start rusting your truck. Also, I would recommend buying some proper safety glasses. Milwaukee makes tinted safety glasses.

Wife and I recently purchased land, and intend on building an A Frame. I came across your channel at the right time! Nice! Congratulations on buying some land. It’s a great feat. Yeah man, I enjoy woodworking as a hobby but I’m definitely new to building an entire house. So, I’m learning, studying, and respecting the craft. Glad you liked it! More to come!

also use a grinder or cutoff tool for the rebar man. Its what I used for lollicolumns. Cuts through in no time!

Serious question!? Ive read that an A frame loses a LOT of "livable square footage" because ANSI standards say that : "3.6 Ceiling Height Requirements To be included in finished square footage calculations, finished areas must have a ceiling height of at least 7 ft. (2.13 m) except under beams, ducts, and other obstructions where the height may be 6 ft. 4 in. (1.93 m); under stairs where there is no specified height requirement; or where the ceiling is sloped. If a room’s ceiling is sloped, at least one-half of the finished square footage in that room must have a vertical ceiling height of at least 7 ft. (2.13 m); no portion of the finished area that has a height of less than 5 ft. (1.52 m) may be included in finished square footage." - verbatim So, did this hold true for your A frame? (If you were to sell, or get a loan, would this reduce the SF size greatly?!? From what I can tell, a 1200 sf A frame, is only considered about 800sf, according to lenders... Do you have any idea about this?! - Thanks man! I appreciate your videos, and your help for a fellow newb!

I wouldn’t know how lenders value an A Frame based on square footage. I know typically, if you do a Cash-Out-Refi, they just use local comps to value the property. This is a vacation rental for me. I’m not trying to sell it. So, I haven’t really thought it about it.

@@darryldarks Well, Why not pull an equity loan on it, and use the funds to build a 2nd A frame? Use the rental funds to cover the loan cost. Do this each year, build multiple cabins, and then sell them in a high market! (This is my plan, lol,) - I researched it, and some lenders use ANSI standards, and some dont, so it depends on who you would look to get a loan from apparently.

@@darryldarks Fyi, if you did multiple A frames, it would be wise to put them under an LLC, then pay yourself whatever you want as a builder/manager of the LLC . If you pay yourself under a certain amount ,you pay no income tax, and the LLC avoids that amount in tax! Hope this give you some ideas! Thanks for all your advice!
