I could just picture Ken behind the camera while Kim was relaying her counting woes! Ladies, you had me laughing out loud. The Harmony part was lovely. I spent my teenage years is Ladner, which at that time was a fishing community on the West Coast so it was very nostalgic. Thank you.

If your beautiful mitten is too big, you could knit a lining: turn mitten inside out, pick up stitches where cuff ends and hand begins. I use up leftover yarn of same, or lighter, weight, and knit in stocking stitch. Your hands will be toasty warm whenever you wear them :)

The harmony part was breathtaking! The new sweater project looks like a really fun adventure. Betsy’s sweater surgery part made me laugh out loud when Betsy threw the part she cut off over her shoulder. Simone-your yarn and your hats are beautiful. I like your Ankers sweater. I just finished my Ankers in Berroco Sesame-love it! Your fuzzy blue sweater looks soooo cozy, Kim. And that those Birds of a Feather are lovely. I have one in my queue and now I want to start it. Can’t wait to see Kim’s mitts-very cool.

look forward to your podcasts. I live on my own and am turning 80 in a couple of months and having the three of you visiting me regularly is a regular highlight for me. It really makes my day each time I hear you use my suggestion of the Knitty Gritty name. Now I am even happier that I am able to make a small contribution to the conversation on this episode. I am not 100% sure I understand the finger injury you are talking about but one thing I like to do when knitting in the round is I put a needle tip one size smaller on my left hand end of the cable. The right hand needle is the one that determines the size of your stitches. If your left hand needle is smaller the stitches flow off the needle more easily. I also use a needle tip one size larger (or more) on the right hand end when casting on. It gives me a looser cast on while also keeping those stitches more consistently tensioned.

Your humor, energy, and love of PEI is priceless. Thank you for such wonderful hat patterns, Simone!! The crochet masterpieces are stunning. I have had the bird mitts in my queue for 11dy hundred years. Guess where it is now?? Harmony is a work of art. Simone's photography is spectacular and the fiddle a perfect accompliant. For the raglan sweater you want to make, The easy way is to use Ann Budd’s top down sweater book, knit a gauge swatch and find your swatch measurements and knit the raglan for your size. It will tell you the stitches at different points so you can figure out how to fit in your color work pattern. She shows you how to add any neckline you want so you can add the turtleneck. She teaches this at different yarn stores through zoom classes and it is an amazing class.

I love how you girls love your place in the world - stories and pictures of PEI are wonderful for us at the distance we are. I’m excited to think about patterns for Diva’s Desire, so keep bringing those to us. Kim! Your beautiful knitting! That blue sweater that you didn’t want to finish because you loved it so much! It is divine. Love Simone’s patterns and am off to get them; thank you for the squares, too. I am not an experienced sweater-knitter but once upon a time, I made a couple of sweaters from written patterns - and they came out a bit wonky. I’m better at engineering than following someone else’s instructions, so I sat down with what I had learned from the two wonky sweaters and constructed a sweater freehand. It was a great great learning experience. My constructed sweater could be improved - the sleeves are like Jerry Seinfeld;s puffy shirt - but when time and incliination arrive, I know I can take out the funny part and remake it. Bottom line: you learn a lot when you make your own way. You are a great team, full of talent and energy. Xx

Kim, that exact blue turtle neck is available on Etsy from Lost Boys Vintage, Ontario, Canada. Agapanthus are invasive. Not a native of Australia. Re crayfish, same here with our Port MacDonnell. The largest crayfish port in Australia. You hear the cars going by to get to the boat ramp. Then you hear the outboard motor start to go out to the cray boats at 4am. We also have abalone fisherman. But a virus had stopped any collection. Our craypot frames are round large metal pots.

Stunning projects! I love the idea of your creating sweaters based on your own designing. If I didn't have three sweaters on the needles, I'd probably jump in! You could call the segment "Creative Courage." Kim, I still have paper patterns and use the highlighter tape. I always put it above the row I'm following so I can see where I've been and to be able to see the design row(s) below to catch any errors. (I'm halfway through Recipe for a Good Life book after enjoying The Spoon Stealer. Thank you for those suggestions!)

That Harmony part was beautiful. Thanks. I am eager to see how your sweaters turn out. I made a sweater based on a sweater worn by a character in a cartoon a few years ago. It was a colorwork Christmas sweater and I used a sweater I wear alot for the size reference. It turned out great, but charting the colorwork for the yoke was a pain.

Love your podcast! As a fellow left handed knitter who has had to figure things out alone, it would be interesting to hear what Simone does differently from right handers. Does she knit charts right-to-left (as I do) or left-to-right? Does she reverse her M1L and M1R? Her SSK with K2TOG? Did she learn by sitting across from her teacher in mirror image? We lefties are used to things being a little awkward in our world and it is nice to find a fellow knitter who is so accomplished!

I’m in on the DIY sweater. I’ve already started designing my own Gansey - this was my one and only knitting goal for the year. I’ve swatched and have written down the first about 4 inches (I’m using the Beth Brown Reinsel book to guide me). Mine will be bottom up in the round.

Won’t the new sweater in a cotton blend knit up differently than a wool blend? I’ve heard that the gauges and finished fabric will be different. Cotton vs wool. Hmmmm!🫡

So what is the correct pronunciation of Marie Wallin’s last name? Sounds like wall or wail or does it depend on where you are from? After hearing it like wall for so long I started watching another podcast where they say it like wail and just saw they are from the US. I only ask because there have been many conversations here around spelling of colour vs color.

Is Creative Linen a worsted weight? I can't seem to find yarn weights for most of the yarns on your site.
@FleeceHarmonyPodcast
@FleeceHarmonyPodcast 3 ай бұрын
We tend not to put the yarn weights (as in aran, worsted, fingering) as these terms usually have quite a large range of what fits into the description and they do seem to be pretty arbitrary. For our mill made yarns, we have incorporated the name of the weight in the name of the yarn most of the time (Selkirk Worsted, for example). Even then we get plenty of folks telling us it is not a true worsted weight, but more of a light worsted. See what I mean? LOL When substituting yarns in projects, we always do the calculation of comparing the weight by yard of the yarn we want to use, to the weight by yard of the suggested yarn in the pattern. Creative Linen is 0.457 grams per yard - this would be in the range of a "worsted" weight yarn (100 grams/219 yards).
