Feather Finish (same mix, different branding): amzn.to/3JdNWor

This week we show you how to make your own concrete accent wall! This was a really fun project that was also budget friendly! It only cost $40 to do this entire wall and I still had some product left over. This project does not require much skill and is actually a ton of fun as you get to be a bit artistic! I also love the end result as you get a range of grey tones and a lot cool texture. I highly recommend this project!

This is amazing. Wish I had saw this before I attempted mine. I went with the Craig and Rose artisan onyx concrete effect paint and I'm not happy with how it turned out. This looks great though, keep up the good work!

How did it hold up? Any cracking or bumps breaking the wall?

If I wanted to do this for an RV/bus/van, I'm assuming there would be cracks over time from road vibrations. Anyone know if there is something flexible to add to the mix that would keep it from cracking?

Not sure there’s anything you can do in that situation. I would try lime wash instead 😁

Hi, the wall looks fantastic. I've just come across your channel and have been binge-watching 😊 Can I ask a question please? Do you think you could paint over this to create a textured plaster wall effect?
@GoldenKeyDesign
@GoldenKeyDesign Жыл бұрын
Hi there! I'm glad you found my channel! You definitely could paint over this to create that effect. Another option would be to use drywall mud which is a little less expensive

Glad you enjoyed it! Yes, I went right over the drywall. It’s been over a year since I installed it and it’s held up great. Still not a single crack

Wow!! This is exactly want I want to do..Is there a way to add color to the concrete and do you think it will affect the outcome.
@GoldenKeyDesign

I haven’t tried adding color before but pigment is probably your best option. I would just do a small test before mixing up a ton

You can also buy the white version Ardex feather finish same company as Henry & then tint it

Did you find it to be durable? Because I used that feather finish stuff on my countertops and it was fragile chalky garbage. A casual fingernail scrap did it massive damage, and it constantly shed chalky dust.
@GoldenKeyDesign

It’s very durable but it’s not meant for a countertop. I did build a coffee table out of it but I used durock as a backer board, honed the surface by sanding it to 220 grit, and then I sealed it with a concrete sealer. The video is on my channel if you want to check it out. If done properly, this stuff can last a very long time

My countertops in my kitchen are on year three and still look great. I did four coats of feather finish, lightly sanding after each coat. I then used 3 coats of sealer and three of a top finish. No nicks, gauges, etc. Each year I will add top coat just to keep it protected.

if your using this feather finish in the bathroom would you need to seal it??
@GoldenKeyDesign
@GoldenKeyDesign Жыл бұрын
Good question! I don't think it would be a bad idea but not completely necessary depending on how much it gets wet and how often. I did an accent wall in my bathroom and did not seal it but it barely ever gets wet. I would seal it if it gets wet on a regular basis. Hope that helps!

Wallpaper might work. I would be a little skeptical on how well it would hold up but it may work temporarily

Add retardant and mix whole batch at one time to keep a wet edge as you work
