I made my shower (3 yrs ago) and it looks and feels amazing even today! (Did my HW, to mk it waterproof, etc) And recently, started making bathrooms, showers, etc (using micro cements, plasters...had professional training). But, I respect ppl who are not afraid to try, and mk projects, and are excited about it. That's how I started too.

Brilliant video! I love how you cut to the chase and show what you did without all the typical drama you see in videos of couples trying to entertain the audience and put on a fake show trying to convince strangers they are so adorable! Brilliant job!!! and thankful you came back and answered questions! Loved your honesty, your fears and worries about it, and the reveal! Agree the black accents are STUNNING! GREAT JOB!!!!

That looks fabulous. The imperfections add to the look and the black fixtures really compliment it. Dark and light patches are to do with disparities in moisture content in the mix. If you wanted to be fussy, you could sand the rough patches but I think you should leave it as it is. Good job girl! I am inspired.

Lol I have been researching for a week before pulling the trigger on a cement wall (fireplace surround) and this was my exact situation too. I don’t like the glossy look of Venetian plaster, and it seemed like every real cement solution was some European designer mixture. I just grabbed polymer modified cement, cement pigment (quikcrete liquid pigment), mixed everything until the consistency looked right without measuring anything, slapped it on a scrap drywall as a tester and it looks amazing. Got the PMC and pigment from Home Depot for $40. Those designer mixes were several hundo plus crazy shipping

This was great! I have used concrete on bathroom countertop & started in the kitchen. However, due to moist& protection I topped it with resin. I would brush it on, using all kinds of techniques (glitter, paint & wood stain). I polyurethane it to get the true color. I may do that with the wall you inspired me to do. I wanted a brown & wood stain soaks I’m well. I did a sink countertop & the seal around the drain hole was not tight and I had a leak which really didn’t dry. Your wall it vertical so you may not have that issue. Look forward to your other videos, thank you 😊

It’s concrete when you add aggregate (sand, pebbles, gravel, small stones, even large stones) Portland cement is the limestone that’s been heated really hot and once you add water it reacts with any silica in the mixture and makes calcium silicates (that’s what makes it hard)

Exactly what I was looking for and within my budget. Do not want to splurge on $500 paint mixes. Quick question: would it help if I paint the drywall with cement/concrete (gray) color 2-3 days before I do this ? To completely remove any of those white dots peeking through ? Or just using a handy brush and stroking them with a liquidy cement would do the trick ??

I made a table with concrete. Just go buy a sealer and the water will just repel off of your concrete and won’t soak in. :) I’m not sure if you leave it unsealed if the concrete will mold if you don’t seal. I’d probably seal it just incase.

There are other products that you can get that are lighter....and here's a fun thing. Use 3 buckets and some concrete dye that's black. Do a light, medium, and dark (not a huge difference, just a slight difference) and trowel it on the wall using a little from each back and forth as you go. You'll get more depth and accent.
