This is my first video about a very cool DIY project of mine: an electric skateboard.
It has a top speed of 30 km/h and small hills are no problem for the gear. It´s perfect for going to university or college, because of its small size: ~60cm long.
The battery is easy to change on the go and lasts for about 1 hour.

I cant decide what esc to buy for my e-longboard. I know the Vesc will not be the one because it support only 50A and is very weak compering to RC esc's. Help me decide, does the FVT have soft cut off or sudden stop ? what are the cons ?
@adrienswayofdoingit8360
@adrienswayofdoingit8360 7 жыл бұрын
FVT is more like a sudden stop, you can program it not to. But it is still hard to break when you are driving around with 30 km/h. (But due to the momentum, it is a total normal break with some low speed ~15km/h) : )

@adrienswayofdoingit8360
@adrienswayofdoingit8360 7 жыл бұрын
It is totally possible, but not with these motors: They are to big to put 2 in line for the back wheels. If you want two motors you have two options: - take smaller motors so that they fit. - Or take the same motor, but put one in the back and one in the front. (Search in google or youtube: Electric longboard dual motor)

Hey, awesome video! I was wondering what the braking was like on your board. I have a similar ESC in my board the the breaking is super sharp.
@adrienswayofdoingit8360
@adrienswayofdoingit8360 7 жыл бұрын
The braking is good ( not very good) but you can program it with the esc card. If I am faster than 20-25 km/h and I want to brake, it is very sharp! But if I have a speed of 10-15 Km/h, the braking is pretty good: you need a few meters before standing and it´s pretty smooth. Thanks : )

Great tutorial! I love your build and I am wondering about doing something similar. I have a few questions: 1) How do you charge the battery? Do you have to unplug the whole thing and connect it to a power source at home? 2) Also when the charging is finished, does the charging stop automatically or do you have to unplug it to prevent overcharging? 3) How far can you go with one battery? You said it lasts one hour so is my estimate of ~ 25 km range correct?
@adrienswayofdoingit8360
@adrienswayofdoingit8360 7 жыл бұрын
So I have my small lipo charger which works with a normal 12V cable (laptop cable/ If you don´t have such a cable, it only costs 10 bugs); the charging process takes about 2 hours and stop by itself, but I would recommend to charge it only ~95% and not 100% ( it´s better for the battery). And the range depends, but it should be around 20 km.

Can you link all the products you used please? And how do you brake? Also does the board have to be made out of wood or do you think this can be done on a pennyboard?
@adrienswayofdoingit8360
@adrienswayofdoingit8360 7 жыл бұрын
Hi, The esc has a regenerative braking function which you can program (very easily) high or low with the programming card (you could even drive backwards). I think that with all the electronic, a normal pennyboard would not be perfect because it is so flexible; so I would recommend to take a material like wood (which is more stiff). For the link of the products, just search in the comment section.

Hey, everyone that is about to make and electric longboard. I have been following this exact tutorial and is a nice and cheap way to have your own longboard! But one word of advice... don't buy the ESC used in this video (from China). I invested in one of these and one day, it stopped generating voltage to the motor. PLEASE invest in a VESC. Great Tutorial though! It helped a lot!

My Programming card (the one you have in the video) doesnt seem to be working. when i plug it in, it just says "ESC Model V1.00_121012". Is this a sign that its broken or do i need a firmware update??? Sorry for the noob question. New at all of this. Thanks!! P'S' GREAT VID!

I am not sure, but I would say that it maybe need a firmware update. Just try out some stuff, and if it really doesn´t work, send it back. Thanks

hi really good video i was to order everything now... do you think it is worth it? does it go on hills to ? slow fast? and what is the programming card??
@adrienswayofdoingit8360
@adrienswayofdoingit8360 7 жыл бұрын
I build this board 1 year ago, so maybe (at this time) there are some cheaper alternatives out there... (Some hub motors would be cool : ) But this one is fast and small hills are no problem for the board. The esc programming card, is a lcd programming card from fvt.
