I recently updated this pattern which includes 6 sizes for Children to Teen/Adult for a perfect fit. I will show you step by step how to make this face mask and some tip on alternative material you can use being we are limited to supply.
I made this DIY fitted face mask for the COVID-19 Corona virus protection but can be used for dust mask as well. These are not a replacement for N95 or surgical masks.

Excellent pattern! I have tried 4 other patterns and this one is the best for fit. It could be adapted to insert a filter. The fit is great. I have made masks for the whole family using this pattern including the little ones.

Good idea about using the jogger material in the inside. It would be soft, and I imagine provide a extra thickness for additional filtration.

I have watched dozens of tutorial videos and yours is very easy to follow, even with the sound off because my daughter was taking a nap after a long week working at the hospital. I will be making this for our family and for her to wear (not at work because she is given a N95 mask), but for when she’s leaving/going into the hospital building. I just wish there was a way I could add a filter pocket for added protection, but thanks for this!!

Thank you for this pattern. It’s now August and I’m sure many of us have watched more mask videos than want to say and wasted material-off measurements! There’s also lots of changes to mask, better fit and breathable ones now. Yep, another mask video, different shape 🥴 I saved this video and glad I did. I’m sticking with a good basic design fit. Prewash the fabric first, use googles and a mask when making them and clean everything. Try not to use pins.Pins make holes. I am adding a filter pocket and nose wire for a better seal. Thank you for the demo and the pattern was easy to download.

Just for information. A pressing with a hot iron after making the mask will kill most germs.

How about for a 2 year old? I've loved your templates for adults and it's worked out great, but I see the smallest child you have is the 3-6 year old range. Any advice for a 2 year old?

you can shrink this pattern by printing at 90% or the % that will fir your child

Excellent pattern ! Have one question, how much do you sew around the entire mask when elastic is applied? 1/4 inch? 1/2inch? That is the only thing I missed .

Anyone know how long the elastic should be(over the ear) for a 7 year old?

I think the 4" might work. are you able to wrap it around her ears and test it. I made 2 smaller sizes pattern for my granddaughter who are 9 and 6 but I have not tested these as I have to send it out of town. would you like the pattern? I recently sent a small to my son and it fit my 9 year old granddaughter the elastic was 5" and she tied it in a knot and it worked. The printed pattern seems to be more curved at the bottom then the one you are demonstrating.

Clipping the excess around a curve eliminates the bulk and creates a smooth outer edge while maintaining the curved shape.

I have one of the first patterns that had the two different pieces, with one going along the side of the face with the seam area where we can thread in an adjustable strap. Do you have that one in all the sizes?

I assuming you are talking about this pattern. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/adSPp9KfsM22faM.html In this video I added a child size along with XL and XXL. If you need adjustments other than those sizes you can print the pattern the adult at 90% or any % you will think will work. Hope this helps.

@@Lelesdesigns The first pattern was the one that was two pieces with the one going back to the ears more and the other was the lining/pocket piece. I only see it in adult size and child size. I guess I''ll hope that works.

I am disappointed! You were showing a tutorial and I printed the pattern now this is a different mask... the other one had one big piece that you fold in the sides... I liked it because it cuts down on the cutting 6 pieces. I cannot find that particular tutorial now.

You should add a nose wire to keep the mask snugly against your face. Or people who wear glasses, if the mask is NOT snug on the nose, their glasses will fog up.
