As an amateur with woodworker, i typically feel overpowered with the entire arrangement kzfaq.infoUgkxrYREG3-7f1Aqk9ams3ZESRNzGnfdUtyQ . Be that as it may, this arrangements drove me through with much clarity and effortlessness woodplans. Works i now work like a genius. That is great!

This may be one of the BEST woodworking videos on the net. As I was low on funds, I used recycled pallete wood and a flat piece of laminated MDF I found thrown out by one of my nieghbours. I used old window sashs that were laying around and old hinges from an old door. My only purchases were 4 x 75mm / 3" locking swivel casters (4) and 4 x 12.5cm / 5" strap hinges (4) and proper wood screws. The only thing I had to keep an eye on was the twist on some of the pallete wood, but it's the most useful bench ever! I use it ALL THE TIME under my car port as I don't have a garage. I also added a removable four point power board to the side which hooks on to two screws on the side. THANKS SO MUCH for making this video. I LOVE MY PORTABLE WORK BENCH! - Aussie Ed.

This is just what I need for the workshop that I'm putting together! Though, instead of dowels, I think that I'll go with bolts and nuts. But that's just me. Great job on the video.

Wow. Awesome. The sashe window lock idea is really good. I'd have used a gate style twist latch. But the sashe locks should have less slop in them. I would imagine 4 locating pegs in the worktop should be enough to keep it square.

Just finished my bench this afternoon. I'll have to say it turned out awesome. It's been mentioned in the comments that the hinges are 3" narrow utility type. They are in a 2 pack. I bought the wrong ones. Someone else mentioned it not folding together completely. In mine this was due to the sash locks hitting the sides. I'm very happy with the bench. Thanks for sharing this.

Great project, I love folding and collapsing stuff! I'm planning on a shop overhaul this summer and I'm thinking about some folding carts as part of that, this gave me some great ideas. I forget who I picked it up from, but if you have a bunch of hardware to do some double sided tape or CA glue an activator is awesome for getting it lined up and holding it in place while you pre-drill and screw. Probably one of my favorite tips I've picked up.

Hi Elisha. I got the plans last year and built the workbench. I love it! The only thing I did not keep in mind was your 4x2's differ a bit in size than what I could get here in South Africa so it does not close completely. I could cut off some of the folding panels but I don't want to lose the length of the table as I made a bigger table top so I left it as is. I have a bench that it is not in the way but is there when I need it. My dad has a solid workbench and if I asked to use I could only get to use maybe 40cm x 60cm of 200cm x 60cm, which was super frustrating and I rarely made something due to this limited space I could use. This bench is just perfect and I could finally begin to get to do more woodworking. Thanks for sharing this great idea!

I like this. I'm making mine similar with one design change to add stability. Make the top first and set the dimensions of the legs. Then make the folding cross-pieces a little bigger. When they are unfolded, they should be under tension and "snap" open. They can still be latched to lock them in place. Great stuff.

This workbench will pull double duty. It will serve as a workbench, and the other function will be an extra table top surface for BBQs. I'll make two separate tops. I just purchased the plans. And just so you know my wife said your the only pretty woman that, I have permission to watch for 10 minutes or longer ; if you keep on producing these genius projects and plans that is LOL! Keep up the good work and if there is anything else as slick that comes up, I'll buy those plans as well. We will be making that bench in a few days coming. My wife is handy as well she has made some quality xylophones and marimbas.

I just finished this. I used Rocker bench castors that flip up and let the legs rest on the ground instead of the swivel castors. I made the legs 31" long vs 27 because of the loss of the 4" castor height. The bench is surprisingly sturdy when opened and the top is installed. I mortised the 1x3 in the spots where the sash lock needed room to nest so the structure would collapse more fully. A set of dowel centers made locating the 4 dowels for the top a lot easier than measuring, just pick the 4 spots in the base and then use the dowel centers to mark the corresponding spots to drill in the bench top. I only had 2 1/2" centers, so I did two, installed the dowels, then marked the next pair with the top on the first pair. Self centering hinge bit also was nice to have to drill the pilot holes for the hinges.
