DIY FURNITURE FLIP | How to Sew a New Slipcover for an Old Ottoman (For Beginner's!)
In today's video, I share a super simple way to sew a new slipcover for an old ottoman. Easy to remove and throw in the wash, it’s the perfect solution when your ottoman gets dirty! You can add decorative trim or fringe to the edges for a fun update but we’re keeping it simple and streamlined for this look.

Going to try this on a round Ottoman! Love it cause you can take it off to wash. I may extend the fabric on the sides and add an elastic so it hugs the bottom of the Ottoman

real good idea. the only things I would have done was overcast the edges on the bottom to keep it from fraying, and also run a piece of elastic through the bottom to would be a better fit. Otherwise. Good Job!

@JulieKhuu

Fabric choice has a lot to do with it. This is a poly blend layered over an ultra suede so it doesn’t move around at all

Beginner here. So do you add 1-2 inches overage for each panel so instead of 18 Inches you made each panel 20 Inches is that correct? Also is it 1/2 Inch seams around sides and top please?
@JulieKhuu
@JulieKhuu 3 жыл бұрын
Correct Kim. Add a consistent overage, can be more or less, but 1/2” is a nice round number

@JulieKhuu
@JulieKhuu 2 жыл бұрын
Measure the piece, find the center point on your fabric and use the pencil + attached string method to measure the radius from the center point (add 1/2” overage) and voila! You’ve got yourself the top fabric piece. The skirt takes some tailoring of course 😅 Will find a round ottoman for a future DIY video Norma!

Omg she said nothing about fabric direction, or checking that fabric could even be washed in a washing machine. No pins😂. I’m sure it’s encouraging to people. But I hope they watch sone other videos so they have more info before ending up wasting fabric

That could be true. I used a poly velvet, no patterns, no directions which makes it SUPER easy to manipulate/ work with.
