This is the best implementation I've yet seen w/these. Feels more like a cathedral. Now I just need to find someone who rents nice C-clamps like yours - maybe cargo straps to pull them in, and short pipe clamps to do the final squeeze would work equally well. Anyway, beautifully done.

@@LazyFromOrel, всё-таки решили сделать ферму из металла, но в будущем попробую сделать и из дерева. А так строю сейчас бомбоубежище, вероятность ядерной войны очень высока. Удачи вам.

Do you have designs for arches for domed roofs for buildings with no trusses and roofs. I work with people in Africa and need to find economical ways to roof existing structures. Thank you.

Would like to build a boat shed/greenhouse like yours. It would be 24' wide x 40' long x 18' tall (at peak). Don't know how to figure out how long to make the arch halves, Can you help me out.? All the calculations say to use diameter at base, but that is if you want the peak at same height as the base width, I guess. At a loss, help.

With traditional wood framing the sill plate meets the concrete foundation and is secured with an anchor bolt to the foundation. How is one of these cured members being connected to the foundation? I don't even see a sill plate. What's keeping them from shifting around on the foundation?

You need to expand your mind….you’ve been manipulated into believing there is only one way to build. These are a traditional hoop house or boat shed for traditional ship builders, they date back many many years. Also called a Quonset hut. Designed by US military before WW2. This structure is fine, the only issue would be the plastic getting damaged from UV.

Nicely done, but why rip 2x4's, a lot of work, blade wear and danger. For a truss, the width is the strength, not really the edges, Could you build it using thin hardboard which is easy to bend and use 2x6 blocks inside to get wider truss? Or 3/4x2 boards (but more expensive). btw, website is broken.

Thank makes a lot of sense .. you must have an engineering background! What about 2x4`s inside instead of 2x2`s?

I live north Toronto Canada. we get ice storms - they hold up pretty good. I used 1x3 strappings and 2x4 blocks in between covered with plastic - it stood against scary wind storms as well that have knocked down large trees in the forests and streets. Amazing structures. I will be building my cabins with.

You should have waterproofed/sealed the lumber before you attached the plastic. Moisture will collect under the plastic and the structure will rot. My GH had this exact issue after 10 years with pressure treated lumber.

8 years ago this was a great cheap project today a 2x4 is $9 a pc this project will cost a fortune to make it you can cut strips of plawood and just use the lumber for the spaces but the labor involve is big outside of the look of the final product I will like to see the wind strength it will need some big poles to hold
@unionse7en

be careful of ply wood voids that low cost plywood has, not a problem in full sheets , but significant when cut into strips.
