I made this mechanical tow behind mower for my ATV basically from junk. Although I had to buy the rear axle, a few bearings and some V-belts, this project was made from scrap metal and other recycled materials. I hope you enjoy watching! #mowing #mower #ATV #grass #DonnDIY #eestiyoutuber
I got the idea from a KZfaq user Roadracing Mustang. His video is located at • My Homemade Mower . Check it out! It's brilliant!

Love how you made the blades to survive rocks and still keep cutting. Ingenious idea. No doubt your invention will outlast anything on the market today. Also like the fact that there is no engine to maintain. Thanks for posting.

I had to watch this twice, it works so well! What an amazing machine. The drive gearing ratio is massive with the diff ratio + the chain drive ratio + belt pulley ratio. Great job, good fabrication, especially with scrap steel and components.

Wow, that *really* does work! I was a little dubious at first, but once you added the swing away knives and the weight boxes, it started to look serious. Some shielding would be a really good idea, especially chain mail style so it follows contours and keeps any debris or a flung knife inside. That is one impressive machine!

Extremely well done! Only thing I could think to recommend would be some small agricultural tires for better traction and some kind of deck lid to protect yourself from potential flying rocks/debris. I have to pay someone to mow my lawn as I'm always travelling, but could totally see myself using something like this when I retire.

Lot of comments about folks not having a lathe but the pulleys you made can be found at any automotive junkyard and for the blades a couple of old mower decks and a little ingenuity could of been used instead of the things you made. That being said, GREAT JOB, love it!
@Iexpedite1
@Iexpedite1 5 жыл бұрын
Speaking of dopes...Shovster wasn’t criticizing the builder. He was criticizing the people that claim he was only able to achieve it because he had specialty tools. His point is, even though the builder used a lathe, which not everyone has. The project is achievable with off the shelf parts.
@chucksherron
@chucksherron 5 жыл бұрын
@Mark Magoo he still wasn't being critical. You are defending someone who doesn't need to be defended.
@Iexpedite1
@Iexpedite1 5 жыл бұрын
Mark Magoo Again, he wasn’t being critical. You can find pulleys and mower decks and with a little ingenuity achieve the same outcome. That doesn’t mean a guy that knows how to use a lathe and built his own parts lacks ingenuity. Obviously it takes ingenuity to build your own parts. So, it must mean that there are multiple ways a person can achieve this outcome and not having access to a lathe is no excuse.
