In this video I make a transducer mount out of HDPE (High Density Polyethene) and mount in on the back of the Boston Whaler 13. The key point is to minimize the amount of holes drilled in the Transom.
I also mount the Lowrance HOOK² 4X GPS BULLET Fishfinder but the key element of this video is making and mounting your own Transducer mount with HDPE.

Gday mate thats the same model as i have (not mounted yet ) still doing my resto that idea is good of the block but mate silicon ? marine adhesive sealant only joking, i have done a number of restos and each one people have used silicon either round the screen or in the cabin or somewhere and its a devil to get it off ,this one i am doing i call the previous owner silicon bob (dont know his name but that'l do) he has used it everywhere and it has to come off before painting (wire wheel works well) , its a good video and may employ this myself rather than screw it directly to the transom anyway as you fellas over there say happy holidays .

Yeah, I used silicone a lot, thinking if it can hold 1000 gallon fish tanks together, there's something to it! I've learned more since (Shot this video last year) and now know that the urethance sealers are better below the waterline. Live and learn!

@@ExtremeDIYGuy Gday mate it will probably be ok for what you have used it for seeing you sealed the threads as well ,me i use sikaflex adhesive sealant i know it costs a lot more but have used it on all my resto's, i'm dealing with a heap of silicon at the moment trying to clean it of windscreen joints and it's a pain but thats resto's always owned by a googan at some stage .

I used the same block with sika flex 292i bond and stuck the block to the boat. The transom will break before it comes off. No neec for holes

Did you sand the block first or the boat? before applying the adhesive. I’m trying to mount a lowerance ducer on my war eagle and I don’t want to drill any holes.

@@AL_0401 yes, light sand for each. I also drilled a few holes in the block aswel and filled them up with the sikaflex. Look up stern pad on Google, same idea

something i dont understand, you are drilling holes in your hull to mount a block, why would you not just screw the transducer straight to the hull?

The reason for block is I know I can better seal with the block than with just a transducer.

This is wat I was thinking why use a block if your going to drill holes on your boat. The purpose of the block is so you don't drill holes on the boat.

The purpose of the block is incase you have to move your transducer or replace it, you still only have the two original screws in the transom. Can move it on the block without anymore damage. Nice job.

huge mistake on fiber holes......you always chaffer holes to stop any cracking

True, that is the common thought. Yet, after drilling holes a few hundred times, I've never had gel coat crack as a result. I suppose there may be a first time.
