Hope you enjoy the video on how to replace shocks on your 2007-2018 JK Jeep Wrangler. This is a very simple task with basic hand tools and can be done in your own driveway or garage. I’m installing the Rancho RS9000XL adjustable shocks but this type of replacement is the same regardless of brand. www.gorancho.com/

Thank you for this video. Rancho provides No instruction for the Rs9000 shocks. Other gas shocks I have installed were shipped with a strap keeping them compressed, These shocks were compressed without a strap. Thinking I got bad shocks I called Rancho and found out the following: INPORTANT: These shocks are shipped compressed. THE SHOCKS NEED TO BE RELEASED. When installing the FRONT shocks, mount the the lower mount first. Then Install the boot and the top lower bushing, pushing the metal bushing washer all the way down to the nut on the upper stud, and make sure the larger bushing lip on the bushing is facing the shock tower. Then using a 11/32 or 8mm wrench on the top of the threaded upper mounting stud, turn the stud counter clockwise 3/4 of a turn or so until it un-compresses completely and guide the upper stud through the shock tower mounting hole while the shock expands. REAR Shocks: Install the top first then twist the shock body counter clockwise to un-compress the shock and guide it into the lower mount. Please add this to your video or at least in your comments.

Currently have only done mild forest Service Roads and setting on number 4 worked great. I normally been running them on 4-5 for pavement use. So far I like them over the Bilsteins as they were way to stiff and harsh for on and off-road. Jeep has been down for a few weeks due to axle leaks and I’ve been ordering gear sets and lockers, soon to go in the shop. After that I’m headed for some more technical stuff and get some info out there. Thanks for watching

@Georgia4Low

The springs last for a very long time in most cases. Springs will “sag” causing the Jeep to become lower. Shocks wear out a lot quicker than springs.

I have a 2010 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (4 door, manual) and it has developed... the death wobble. I am guessing here, but this is probably the issue, so I'll see if I can find someone to do this for me. I dont have the tools to do it myself unfortunately -_-

Hi, if you have death wobble it’s not being caused by your shocks. The likely cause is worn out front track bar brackets or damaged front track bar. Worn out ball joints as well. Need to have a qualified 4x4 shop inspect the front end. Thanks

@@Georgia4Low I appreciate that bit of information a lot! This will help when I start calling around. I should be back in GA in February, if she makes it that far!

@@Georgia4Low Turns out it was my steering stabilizer. Repair was completed (Savannah, GA) for around $198 (labor included!).

I can't emphasis how important it is for you to inform your viewers at the beginning of each video what year and model Wrangler you have, especially since yours is so modified. This video is only of value to someone who has the same type as you have. From looking at your first video I learned you have a 2015 JKU. But what did it start out life as...Sport, Sahara or Rubicon? Earlier JKs have the 3.8L engine, newer ones the 3.6L. Rubicons have a different front axle and transfer case than the Sahara and Sport do. And now the JL is out. So please let viewers know exactly what kind of Jeep you have.

AlaskaErik thanks for watching... yes those are all great points and I left some details to be assumed. The Jeep started lift as a Sport model. Thanks again for the tips.
