So true,during many types of removals[roofing,flooring,insulation,heating ducts ,hot water pipes]in older homes there is alwayes a possibility of asbestos. There are testing sites that will test for you,if it does exist in your project and your not willing or able to take all neccesary protection,then hiring a qualified proffesional would be the best.thanks for your post!---Bob

I'm not planning on doing any attic work this year, but did learn a few tricks. I laughed when you appeared topless with the baby powder.

Thanks for the vid. I'm repairing and refinishing the deck of a 32 foot sailboat which has involved a lot of fairing and sanding. Though I knew about the cold shower, using a long-sleeved shirt or paper sleeves, and a cartridge respirator, I never knew about applying talcum powder. Thanks again!!

I'm electrician in Denmark, and I'm working very often with the new insulation thats supposed not to itch so much as regulair (its made from real sheep whool with some firestopping material, and something i can't really figure out what is, but i think its old threated insulation (rockwhool) this insulation dosn't scratch so much, its "green" and its cheaper than the regulair, but its dusting 1000 times more, what can i do to prevent to get irritated by the particles when I can't reach my mask?

Saw this video awhile ago and thought the baby powder tip was definitely worth trying next time I have to insulate. Well, unfortunately next week will be all about insulation for me. Doing a triplex...in the dead of Summer too. So fun. Anyway, thanks for the tip and I've really enjoyed all your videos. They all offer a great tip or two, even for us guys who do this every day.

@extantia Hopefully the sailboat is in a warm water port where an occasional dip would also help! +++Bob

How do you get it out of your clothing! ?
@glennh818512 жыл бұрын
you can get gold bond medicated skin powder. rub it on the inside of your elbows and the backs of your knees and anywhere else chafing can occur. it feels great and it smells nice. Also a mask, they are very annoying but if you can wear one the DO it. i know a lot of people who have insulated for years without masks and are fine but whenever i don't have one all i can feel is insulation in my throat. other than that just suck it up! ive gotten used to it

i do insulation everyday and wear shorts and a wife beater. its to hot in the summer to be dressed up.

There is nothing on the internet that provides information that informs you how to protect yourself from fiberglass without the need of long clothing because of the south Texas heat. A remedy to this without a smart ass remark "get another job", would be trully appreciated

Although I'm not a doctor, I am sure that any foreign matter entering your lungs can't be good. There was a time when asbestos could be bought in a powder form in any hardware store. Just because it's easily accessible doesn't mean that in the future they won't find all the true hazards that exist. Better to be more cautious and assume that it's dangerous. Bob

Keep that mask on! I have been on very dirty hot jobs where I have used a moist bandanna tucked into my shirt like an old western (us) bankrobber, seems to not be as irritating but more than likely offers less protection +++Bob
