DIY McLaren GT3 Style Sim Wheel - My 3D Printed Wheel Experience

Күн бұрынI have made a sim racing wheel out of plastic, 100% plastic. And I am going to use it on a very powerful SimXperience Accuforce Wheelbase. Will it last? Will it explode?
In this video I take you down my path of trying to build such a wheel. You need a 3d printer, a bunch of electronics, and a ton of patience and it can be done.
In recent years Sim Racing has really grown up, with an explosion of high end racing gear. In the case of wheel bases the end user (sim racer) ends up having to figure out what wheel to put on the base. In some cases these wheel costs more than the base itself. A 100 percent made of plastic wheel to the rescue for $240? Maybe!

Such a good job dude, just learning how to achieve functional results on many 3d printers is a steep learning curve not to mention what you did to make such a sick wheel, I salute you sir, well friggin done.

I started this project months ago and stopped due to time. I have everything printed, buttons in place, soldering mostly done. Just need to get a circuit board (will probably go Arduino route) to hook it all up to. Looks like you've hit a lot of the same problems I did - I also had to redo the button holes for larger buttons. Well, watching this you've inspired me to get it finished!

Great video Shaun this is the style of video you can just do better than most if not all on the interwebs there is just something about how you do them that stands out and make it feel like you really care about what you are saying also the fact that your honest and show/say the stuff that you did wrong or could do better the video's just feel real I don't know any other way of saying it

Instead of leather u can use grip-tape used for Tennis, it's really common in real racing, so it's a viable solution :D

I'm sad you didnt feature my MP4-22 wheel :< My design is not perfect but it is under 70 bucks to make and I have been using it for over a year and it has still survived. Although mine is printed in two halves which you araldite together so that the grips are printed with it.

you can save almost $200 on the circuit board and rotary encoders by going to amazon.

@@jebstone4935 I'm glad someone else caught that. When he said 80 for a micro controller and 90 for a handful of rotary encoders I shrieked. IN WHAT WORLD?!?! 🤣🤣🤣
