I Love your videos. You gave me confidence to try and make a slip cover for an Ethan Allen love seat. I was intimidated weather it would come out so I used drop cloth material. It turned out great.. I wish I would have bought better material now. It looks up to date now, I Love it! Thank you for such detailed videos

wow! that's awesome! I think it's a great idea to start with dropcloth, just in case it doesn't turn out well, or it ends up unfinished. Now you know what to do, and you can confidently tackle a more expensive fabric slipcover. well done!!!

Hi Mimzi, Love your tutorials and have watched them multiple times. I am attempting to slipcover a sofa with rolled arms and would appreciate any instruction on dealing with the rolled arms. I watched your upholstery video on rolled arms and it was excellent but slipcovering them has me baffled.
@MimzyandCompany9 ай бұрын
they are more difficult. If you have a rolled arm you must install a closure on the back of the sofa or it's difficult to install and it'll make the underneath of the rolled arm more difficult. did you watch the other sofa slipcover video I have? it's rolled arm. here's the link... kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g5qmn5eEm5qdkps.htmlsi=gVvrXOJ2G8BumNsC

Thank you so much for your prompt reply. I watched your other video and that was what I was looking for. I am practicing with some old drapery fabric because I am not very brave with my release cuts. You are my hero!

@@trooper213ful very wise to practice with other fabric. that's why i always say its a great idea to use dropcloth for a first attempt.

Thank you for this great video! I'm getting ready to start a slipcover project. Do you finish your seams on a serger? I am planning to use pinking shears to trim my seams...will this be enough for a machine wash?
@MimzyandCompany9 ай бұрын
I don't usually finish my seams with a serger. Some fabrics are more prone to fraying than others. I think pinking the edges will help a lot. If you pre wash your fabric berfore construction pink the cut edge to see how it responds.

Slip covers seem to be far more complicated than upholstering

Idk. I’ve been doing them for so long I can’t think of life before it. 🤪 and my mom has made slipcovers my whole life. So I watched her since I can remember and therefore it seems simple to me. Upholstery is fairly simple though. It’s not nearly as much sewing as slipcovers.
