You are amazing and I cant thank you enough. You gave me the knowledge and confidence to even try to slipcover. I started with cheap cotton drop cloth and made my template. I bleached it white, made it soft, pinned it “lots of pinning and believed in my pinning” cut and sewed it together. Wish I could share pictures because It looks amazing and I love it. Thank you, thank you, thank you. All the best, Serena

Just curious. You had so much fabric in the width of the drapes, why didn't you install the track from wall to wall? It would have covered the black box that was installed when you weren't home😄and added a little drama!
@MimzyandCompany
@MimzyandCompany 15 сағат бұрын
well i considered it, two reasons...I only bought two tracks and used the full length of both tracks. And mostly 2...I don't really like the look of the curtains going wall to wall. It looks like a cheap motel to me. I realize that five star hotels often have wall to wall drapery, but I just don't love it. It's just my personal feeling/preference on the look.

I just did some epoxy countertops I poured the backsplashes first and then install them and then poured the flat part of the countertops to kind of lock them in and seal the cracks to make them waterproof so there's no water would be able to leak through after I got done my client brought to my attention that there was some splatters on the backsplash and since I could not remove them and pull them out and lay them flat I am trying to figure out how to bring back the shine because all the rest of them are high gloss and I want to bring that shine back but after seeing what I just saw on your video about polyurethane I definitely don't want to use that so my question is have you ever considered using clear auto paint ever considered using clear auto paint
@MimzyandCompany
@MimzyandCompany 2 күн бұрын
No, I never thought to use auto paint. If it was me I'd probably just do another thin layer of epoxy over the whole backsplash. Or over the whole darn thing. Just a really thin layer...maybe use a brush to spread it really thin with the help of a heat gun.

You are a serious life saver! We had a party last night and we were dismayed to see some hardcore white water spots when we took off the tablecloth. After trying lots of different techniques (like vinegar + baking soda, etc), we came across your video. It was the only technique that worked and it worked so fast! Thank you!!

Hmmm. I don’t think so, I feel like it would cave in on the bend and the carriers would not longer slide through. But it could worth a try.

just take your time...plan for it to take a couple weeks and dig for a couple hours and then rest. And if you can get some help for a bit it really makes a difference. once you get down to the pipe it's smooth sailing. Hows it going since it's been 5 days?

Thank you! The fabric I used for these sofas is a performance fabric by revolution fabrics. It’s a great fabric for upholstery but not the greatest for a slipcover. It spot cleans really well , but doesn’t wash super well in the washing machine. For slipcovers I’d use their slipcover twill by revolution.

The chop "waves" echoe the 3-dimensionality of the headboard behind it too, with the horizontal lines of the regular pillows continuing the bedstand lines. Nice balance!

Hi. I watched your video and agree that it's the best one. So, I made my first shade today for a small lamp. The only thing I didn't like was the finish at the top. I put the band around the top no problem. But I could see where I cut the fabric at the top of the shade. I would like a more finished look. Is there an additional step that could be added to cover that? I would like to make more, but I need a solution for this. Thanks. Greetings from the great state of Georgia!
@MimzyandCompany

Thank you. I think you could make the binding a little bigger and then open it up to enclose the top.

Truly, this is one of the most informative tutorials I've seen. I'm an intermediate beginner & had learned that the diagonal stretchy was the bias & the grain was the less stretch & defined by the selvage. Your thread method is much more precise to determine the grain. Thank you!

Great information here, thanks. I second everything she said here. I did my kitchen a couple of years ago with epoxy and did not like the results. I'm covering it with Formica soon. Mimzy's results were much better than mine. I'm pretty good at carpentry, plumbing and painting, but my epoxy countertop project was a failure. For anyone still considering it, I would suggest the following: Don't do it alone - there's a lot to do and a limited time to do it. Have someone mix and someone else pour. Test your colors on a scrap piece before committing to it on your countertop. Don't allow sunlight on the surface when you're pouring - heat will make the exposed areas cure much faster. Take extra care when measuring - the resin is much more viscous than the hardener and this can make it hard to tell how much of each ingredient is in the mix. Keep your pets out of the room for as long as possible - I had several pet hairs in my countertop. And a few bugs. Don't use painter's tape on the edges - the adhesive isn't strong enough and the epoxy will push the tape away from the edge before it cures. Use regular masking tape instead. Do your backsplash first, then set it in place after it cures. Seal the backsplash/countertop seam with caulk before pouring the countertop, then cover the caulked seam with epoxy so your seal there is epoxy and thus won't stain.
