This is part one and part two I will post here in about three weeks. I show and talk about how to build your own suction nozzle for any dredge that you may be putting together. In 2012 I posted a thread on gpex.com on how to build your own Suction Nozzle, GPEX was an awesome forum for everything treasure hunting unfortunately that site no longer exists.
If I'm not going to the muffler shop to have a custom main body built this is the company that I go through for 45° Mandrell bent main bodies and 180° incoming pressure tubes.

This has helped us quite a lot thanks Tye. Me and my prospecting buddy 3D printed a nozzle head in two halves then bonded them together, however we didn't know how big to make the jet nozzle. It worked on test #1 but I think we need a) more pump b) more knowledge on the subject, so will deffo be staying tuned for the next part :D June 8th we hit Scotland - Private virgin spot, cannot wait!!! All the best Matey

About 10 years ago i built a pvc nozzle and thought it should work pretty good, it was a complete failure. After that i did Extensive research on the internet on how to make a suction nozzle back then there wasn't a lot of information anywhere. I did actually come across a mathematical equation on a way to determine your jet size. A big long equation and every time I used it it would always come back to 1/4 the size of your suction tube.

If you have a basic minimum pump then that quarter rule is going to apply to you. If you have a pump that is a monster you can increase at quarter inch rule by a little bit. But that quarter inch rule is your basic baseline.

Jeff wanted to bring the mat to Michigan but I think it might be a little overkill because it's the commercial size mat. I sold my other dredge to Beefy Prepper and I wanted another small dredge to run in some locations here. and I was all out of material to post for a video and this is something that I've been wanting to do for a while I had another complete how to build your own dredge nozzle on GPEX.com that used to be a Canadian forum that is no longer around.

To run a 3 inch Suction and Nozzle you are going to need a minimum of 8000 gallons per hour, now let me convert that to a metric in case you're not in the states, I believe that's going to be 30.28 33 m³ per hour

There's a lot of great videos out there on PVC nozzles and the nice thing about that is when the parts wear out it's easy to replace them and it's cheap.

@IowaGoldProspectors
@IowaGoldProspectors Жыл бұрын
@IowaGoldProspectors
@IowaGoldProspectors Жыл бұрын

Joe if I was set up with a garage I would probably build one for you. But since I don't have a garage I can't do that too easy, and I don't have the time to do so. These videos that I made should show you how to make your own. if you don't want to save money and make your own you could probably buy a 4 inch dredged nozzle either on eBay, keene engineering, Or pro lines website.

Are you looking to build a 15 inch Suction Nozzle or are you meaning 15 cm? There's a big difference in size clarify that for me would you and I'll get back with you
@IowaGoldProspectors
@IowaGoldProspectors 2 жыл бұрын
Since I sent you a respond a while back and you haven't responded to my response. I'll give you an answer to your question can you make a 15 inch Suction Nozzle yes you can but it's gonna be really freaking heavy. Your jet reduction needs to be three and three-quarter to 4 inches. You're gonna need a healthy incoming water line to go to the front of your suction nozzle. Now since you said you're from Zimbabwe I thought maybe you got inches mixed up with centimeters if that's the case that's about the size of a 6 inch suction nozzle. That's a little bit more doable you won't need a crane to move it around. You need to have at least a 2 inch line if not bigger with a reduction of an inch and a half.

Belo trabalho.

Not sure you said the right thing about the pumps you use, you said you use a dredge pump ie keene they have high pressure also but quite good volume as well. If i remember right the psi is about 65 on them.

Give me a couple minutes I have a PDF file I pulled off the Internet probably eight or 10 years ago. I don’t know who wrote it but the guy had a listing of minimum gallon per hour and PSI of pumps and what you could run nozzle size. Let me see if I have that on my phone. Otherwise I might have to start up my older laptop and take a look on there.
@IowaGoldProspectors
@IowaGoldProspectors 7 ай бұрын
All right, I fired up my laptop. And rather shocked that the second folder I opened up was the folder I was looking for. This is a PDF file I think I found in 2014. I copied it to my desktop and put it in a thumb drive, and a few other places just so I wouldn’t lose it or delete it someday in the future. Now this guy wrote out this PDF file for Dredge pumps for different size jet logs. Now I believe suction nozzles are more efficient somebody reading this will probably tell me that that’s not true. It’s just research that I found over the years and I’ve heard it said many times. So under the 5 inch Dredge size. There are three different psi options. At 40 psi you need 194 gallons coming from the pump. At 50 psi you need 217 gallons coming from the pump. And at 60 psi You need 238 gallons coming from the pump. Now if you wanted to run a 5 inch nozzle, your jet needs to be at least an inch and a quarter minimum I would set my pump up on some kind of a tank that you can recirculate the water. On the output side of the pump have a T fitting on the top side of the T fitting screw in a psi gauge, and on the output side of the T fitting have a reducer or a multitude of reducers, have one at least an inch and a quarter inside diameter. What this will tell you is while running your pump, It will tell you what your psi at certain idle levels will be. You know pumps give you two different ratings. They tell you what your maximum gallon per hour is and what your maximum head or psi will be. You’re not gonna have both at the same time. When you run your pump full throttle you’re gonna get your maximum gallon per hour out of the pump if there’s no reductions you’re not gonna get 65 psi out of the pump at 300 gallons. Maybe you already realize this, maybe you don’t. So according to my paperwork that I have on my laptop, your pump should run a 5 inch set up, but before I go out and get everything lined up, I’m going to put a reduction on that pump minimum of an inch and a quarter and see what my psi rating is. Now I just scrolled up and looked at your question to me and noticed you put down 300 gallons per hour. You meant per minute correct? Because if you’re only getting 300 gallons per hour out, you are not running any kind of nozzle hopefully you meant 300 gallons per minute . All the numbers that I typed out further up on this response as gallons per minute.
