Hey, thanks for the shout-out! I'm really impressed how well you did on your first pieces, especially tackling the Cambridge Diamonds--that's a very difficult pattern! I love blue and yellow as a combination as well as purple and yellow. And you would be surprised how many colors are achievable through natural dyes...even retina-searing pink! I'm a little concerned about what will happen to your makeshift loom as the warp shrinks--you can expect to lose about 25% in length as you weave...just something to be aware of. Great work! I can't wait to see more!

It definitely had some problems with the shrinkage, the chairs ended up being at an angle as I worked. Finally got an inkle loom and its much easier and more convenient to do weaving now. But it was fun to see what I could do without buying one. I definitely need to try making a purple and yellow band.

Thanks for the idea to use dining chairs! I have a loom, but it's too short to make a belt. Extending the warp length by incorporating an upside down dining chair seems like a great idea!

I finally caved and got a proper loom. My cat kept terrifying me by standing on the chair spokes and I could hear them starting to crack! I have to put that loom together though so I'll be doing a video on that soon.

I praise your resourcefulness in making your loom! I ordered a small little loom and some cards. If I enjoy the weaving process, I'll invest in an Inkle loom.

Just got my own Inkle Loom! Will be putting it together and seeing if it speeds up the process. It was fun to invent a DIY method, but my cat made me too nervous climbing up on the chairs. Let me know how you like weaving!

By the way what is the fiber that you're using with the samplers? It looks like wool or acrylic

These yarns are cotton. Most of the yarn I use is cotton, I have a small amount of thrifted handspun wool, which I have only used making fingerloop braid so far.
