I like that you showed folks that you don't need a bunch of pricey tools to make something nice. GREAT JOB!!!

Thank you so much! I appreciate you commenting. I def am not into all the pricey tools. I would love them but my budget doesn’t allow so I use what I have and other resources like asking the shop owners to cut the wood that I bought. They have licensed wood shoppers who will cut it. It’s their job! Lol. They will even help you with measurements. I love it. 🥰🥰

I love the simplicity of this: no nails or hammering...just gluing pieces together and staining. Beautiful! A "free" alternative to buying stain for people, like me, who rarely stain things, is soaking a stainless steel dish scrubber in water for a couple of days then use the tinted water as a "stain".

Very cool and simple. I'm looking to build a "crate topper" for our dog crate. All of the other wooden serving trays were unnecessarily complex for the task at hand. Exactly what I was envisioning. Thank you for sharing.

Maybe a wood conditioner would have helped the wood to take the stain a bit more evenly. This was a nice diy. Thanks for posting.

Try a wood conditioner before you stain fresh wood. It helps the stain penetrate the wood. But it came out very nice!

I'm making a serving tray out of poplar right now, and it's been a real pain in the butt. I wish I had seen this video first, because I definitely would have gone with plywood instead of gluing up 5 strips of wood and then having to sand all morning. I really like how you owned this project and made it work for you. Have those butt joints held up over the past two years? I'm always curious how long those last.

Love the tray. Did you wait for the paint to dry before painting the second & third times?
@HomeArtly
@HomeArtly 3 жыл бұрын
Hi. Thanks for the question. Yes, I waited for each layer of stain to dry before applying another coat. I also sanded in between each coat with 100 grit sandpaper to assure the smoothest finish.

I am thing about buying a saw. What saw did you use for this video?
@HomeArtly
@HomeArtly 3 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for your question. I used the dremel 3000 rotary tool. I highly recommended a rotary tool for a DIYer this way you can change the accessories for whatever you’re working on. Of course you’ll need a much biggie type of saw for larger projects.
@leelee4776

Thanks for your reply. Where did you purchase it and what is the model.
@HomeArtly
@HomeArtly 3 жыл бұрын
I for mine from Home Depot but Amazon sells it too. There is also a better model, I think it’s the rebel 4000 which does more. I’m not positive but I think that is the highest model.

Holy moly. Just realized the video. So for this tool I used hubby’s dewalt hand saw. It’s not the rotary tool. Sorry for the mix up! I still do suggest the rotary for much smaller projects but for this I used a DeWalt Saw. Also from Hole Depot. Sorry again for the mix up! Please check out more of my videos and subscribe.
