I show you step by step how to clean your Mini Split AC (Mitsubishi). I use a mini pressure washer for cleaning air conditioners (Port-A-Blaster). I am very happy so far with how much easier it was to clean my AC.
Thank you very much for watching and God bless.

I’m a 67 year old woman and after watching your video I decided to give it a try after getting all the supplies you recommended and…….”I DID IT!!!” It was a bit harder because Lennox has zero help on line 🤬 and getting the cover off was somewhat difficult. Lennox’s wheel does not come out (some things to think about when deciding which brand to install in the first place) so I had to spray with the wheel in place and wow was that wheel super filthy!! There was also some mold on the cover and now it smells clean and lemony (I used lemon Simple Green). I also discovered that the installer did not stick any insulation or foam spray in the hole the wires and condensate tube go through. I have often thought I felt cold air coming in from up there on really cold nights. (No I’m not crazy there WAS!). So I’ll address that before reassembling. You are great and funny too. I feel SO good saving hundreds of dollars! I owe you a beer 🍺 Your doggo is a good boi and tell him I understand him missing mom and it’s OK. Thanks again Jim! 👏👏👏

Thks forbringing up Lennox it is difficult to get help/info on. I had the wheel out to change the bearing at one end. It was making noise , enough that we left it off here and there. Even for the tech that knows the machine it still took him some time and effort. They ate tricky things these mini splits. Helpful to get atraining at install time

I have to confess that I have never cleaned our indoor units. The one in the living room is nearly 10 years old and I recently noticed that is smells musty. I looked inside and woah... it's dirty! I called a company to come clean all 4 and was quoted $350 EACH!! I am going to buy the little pressure washer and the rest of the supplies and will clean all 4 for less than the cost to clean one. Thank you so much for your video!

Interesting variation from your prior video. I may have to try this. I loved your prior video as I was able to follow it and clean all my units (same ones you have) and it went very well but you are right that taking out that blower wheel is a pain. By the way, looks like you DID clean it last year since that is when you posted the other video lol. Thanks again. Thanks Jim! Just cleaned our unit out using your suggestions. I can't believe we didn't all get Legionnaire's Disease from the thing, it was that bad. Our head unit also has the oscillating side-2-side vanes, so I had to remove both of those motors from the drip tray. I bought a Ryobi 18V portable power washer which did the trick really well without having to remove the blower cage. Used some vinegar in the water to clean the vanes after I let the foam work for a while. I also bought some of the pellets you suggested and cut them down to size to put in the drip tray.

This IS how a DIY video should be made! Bravo Zulu. Now I can get at all of those heat exchangers. The porta-a-blaster is the cat's meow. Brushing, vacuuming and compressed air leaves too much behind. Every bit of efficiency counts and makes a huge difference. Thank you for this enlightenment. Hint for different models: try to find a model-specific video for removing the cover, then come back to this to proceed and finish with yours.

Great video. I've done a handful of these and for me the hardest parts are pulling the lid and figuring out how to drop the drain pan. If I could make a suggestion, perhaps slow the roll of the wheel when you spray it. I believe you will clean it faster if you apply resistance to the spin. Thanx and keep them coming.

Oh, that paddle wheel. I’ve been pulling mine out and using Dawn detergent on it and just cleaning it with the hose. Been coming out good, but what a pain. I’m going to do it the hard way this spring, but I’m going to keep in mind this method, because I dread this task. For the condensate drain, I usually run some diluted bleach down that to kill the flora. I bought the Nu Calgon sprayer that you attach to a garden hose (I use Cal Green) to clean the condenser coils (outdoor unit). Great video. 👍 PS I don’t know if you tried the tabs. I used them for my first year. Really did not find them to help much, but ymmv.

I have the Mitsubishi AC, but I need to clean it every month. I used a Bosch Easy Aquatak 100, it does not bend the fins. Because I need to clean so often, I stopped taking out the cover, I only removed the louver and filter. The main thing is that there's another coil at the back, that you may have missed. I always started cleaning that coil first, the blower, and then the front coil. I also don't remove the drain pan, just feel with your fingers (carefully). Use the pressure washer on the drain hole, add some tablets after cleaning.

I found your video when I was looking for help to clean my Mitsubishi MSZ-GL24NA. I have the Port-a-blaster in my Amazon cart, but am having a little trouble finding a waterproof cover to fit my 43"L x 13"T x 10"D unit. I really appreciate your step-by-step procedure and thank you for your effort in making it. I can't find your video on the drain pan tablets. Did you ever get a chance to do one? Hello, thanks for the video. Do you think the port a blaster would be able to clean mold off my coils? Last summer My Ac just started selling worse and worse. It would do the thing where it only smells bad when the AC kicks off and it heats up. I took it apart and cleaned it, and got a lot of gross stuff out, but just spraying the frost king foaming cleaner doesnt get anything out of the coils thats smelling bad. Post winter, I've turned my AC on and it hasn't smelled bad. but I can tell that its slowly starting to smell again. Whatever's in there that died over the winter is growing back. So now I'm doing tons of AC research cleaning research again lol... Thanks.

If you had a central hvac system, the PM for the air handler would cost about $100. It would also be easy to troubleshoot, repair with common parts stocked on hvac service trucks.

@@DIYJIM If you have an open floor plan, very well insulated home and less than 1000 sq ft, a mini split might work ok. If not, multiples are needed and you might as well have a central system that can be easily cleaned, repaired, has a 1 yr labor warranty and 10 yrs parts warranty. To each their own though. I'll never work on or help another diy'er. I tried to help three or four times and everytime it turns into a royal cluster f.

Jim..I am a senior lady who has one 9,000 btu and two 12,000 btu Mitsubishi like yours; what size blue cover should I buy and how thick are the support plates because I have a temp regulator mounted next to my ac and want to make sure there is enough room for the support plate to fit? Also, I would like to try the pressure washer but let me ask you... if you could have used a water hose with a pressure nozzle would you have done that instead of purchasing the power washer or do you feel it would have been too much pressure? I can get hoses in my house... in your opinion which would be better?

Hey Jim random question but do you typically leave your mini splits running 24/7? Or on and off as needed? I’ve heard it is supposedly more energy efficient to just leave them on all the time-“set it and forget it”- but not sure if that’s truly the case.

Can this device, with its provided fittings, be used to push water through the condensation drain tube of my Mitsubishi mini slim heat pump from the INSIDE. I am unable, as a practical matter, to access the external end of the drain tube. For example, instead of attaching the sprayer head, will the end of the section to which the sprayer head would otherwise be attached fit up against the INTERIOR open end of the drain tube snugly enough to push water out through the drain tube without simultaneously blasting an unacceptable amount of water into the room? I know that this would be an "off label" use, but if it can be used in this way I want to purchase it.
