Sure, I’ll never know it was like to be alive 62 years ago. But I’m sure someone who’s over 100 years old would probably have a different idea about what the “greatest music” is compared to this long-haired hippy dippy crap. /s I’m Gen X, and not only did I get your music, I got all the great music that came afterwards and was able to appreciate it in a way that you never did, because [read your post again]. And the same thing is happening to me now with whatever’s happening in the music industry at present. I’m out of touch pining about how great the 90s was. We’re all biased towards our own experiences as being the most valid. Truly great music is timeless. “Let it be” is one of those timeless songs. So is “Clair de Lune.” So is “Strange Fruit.” “Man in the Mirror.” “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” “Crazy In Love.” “Alright.” “Bad Guy.” And countless other songs I’ve probably never heard. I look forward to discovering more of them. I’m glad you enjoyed the music of your time. But your pity for younger generations is misplaced and myopic.

@@nathanaeldavenport2251Problem you have is you are not comparing like with like. I think it’s fair to say the 60s and 70s were to most creative of all eras of popular music, rock, soul, funk prog and jazz. Over 80 years old, full head of hair - slim and fit, looking great...voice still strong and powerful. How can you not love Sir Paul McCartney - a true legend and still kicking it after almost 60 years. Respect to Paul and I never miss acknowledging Ringo, John and George part the greatest band ever The Beatles.

I remember the morning Sgt Pepper came out. I got up early and went to the record store, waited for it to open, bought it, ran back to my apartment and played it, over and over, transfixed. I remember every moment. It changed pop music, rock, everything. These four guys lived within 15 minutes of each other, in the same century.

For those that think us folks in our early 60’s can’t remember the music or the Impact of The Beatles first hand because we were young children at the time…think again! At 62, I still own Beatles 45’s that were bought and given to me at least as far back as 1966. In 1968 I was wearing Nehru Jackets, Beatles Yellow Sub Tee Shirts, etc. brought back from England by my Aunt and Uncle(I have photos). In 1968 I got my first set of drums. In 1970(8 years old) I purchased the Let It Be LP with my own money which I still own…as an addition to the many Beatle records I had at that time…and still have. Never discount what young children are aware of. Some of us as children were very aware of the music, style, and cultural influence of the Beatles even at a young age. I’m older now…but like millions of others, I’m glad I got to experience some of that first hand.

@@cheralbond8659 You are one of the original real fans. I have never seen the Beatles in concert however, when Paul was married to Heather Mills he played a private birthday party, which he had said, they just didn't do that. It was Larry Kings producer and her husband manages a huge money fund. I got to attend that event at a small restaurant in Rancho Santa Fe, California. I have seen the Eagles twice, and as a kid knew the lady who helped found the Eagles more than any outsider. Her little brother who just passed two years ago, was in my first grade class. Ah, nostalgia, is such a powerful drug. Cheers
