I hate that I even have to write this...but we are one step closer to DJI being banned in the United States FOR EVERYBODY. The legislation, which has roots with Elise Stefanik, Congressperson from New York, has passed through a House Committee and is now scheduled to be reviewed and voted on by Congress from June 11 to 13.
I'm not going to pull any punches...this is looking bleak...but there is still time. Visit the link below to make your voice heard! Tell your elected representatives in Congress that they need to vote "NO" to the DJI drone ban.
If this ban becomes law, it will be INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT to change it again. The removal of DJI from the American drone market will result in hundreds of thousands of people being negatively impacted.

She's a troll. On all accounts. She's also up for re-election this year (Primaries are on June 25th, General Election is November 5th). If this passes, I will be putting my foot on the gas to call for her removal by the voters of New York. Don't ask me how, but I'm going to apply some of that good old American ingenuity she seems to lean so heavily on when talking about drones. xD

It’s not about spying, if it is , it’s too late lol, there’s millions of drones out there, and there’s Google earth, better turn that phone off that’s in your pocket, turn off that TV, take off your smart watch, throw out that microwave etc etc etc, The worlds gone MAD ! So if they do ban it, does this mean that they'll disable the app, software, etc. which means you won't even be able to turn on the controller and start up the drone? Does it also mean that if you were to fly the DJI drone somehow just for fun, the FAA will notice it and you'll receive hefty fine? I was just about to buy the DJI Mini Pro 4 for vlogging and it's unfortunate that I just heard about this news while on lunch break. I really hope they don't ban it because I really want to start vlogging and just about everything I need to invest is pretty much going down the hill.

Hey Chris thanks for the update. This bill is totall BS. I have been writing my representatives using DAA and as direct as possible. I'm literally doing all I can Chris. Unless there is anything else that would help. Yes I will remember who towards the ban and vote them out like you said. I feel almost as frustrated as you do. I said almost because it felt wrong saying as frustrated because you are more important than me like you are famous pilot/KZfaqr and a lot on the line. I'm just saying I could rant with you on this in agreement perpetualy man. As you can tell on account of all my grammar errors. I am making my voice herd though I promise you that.

If you were in proses of purchasing your first drone would you stop or just hope. I have one coming on the 11th. Don’t know if I should keep it or send it back and save the money. Retired and not a lot of money. I have sent a email every day to the link to stop it. Just don’t know what to do either.

Honestly, that comes down to your situation. I would say you're okay to go ahead and continue with your purchase because what I'm hearing indicates this won't be an immediate ban. It will be a 5-year plan that includes increased tariffs on DJI imports year-over-year. At the conclusion of the 5th year is when DJI drones would be banned (should this pass). At this point we don't know what that ban looks like or how they would enforce it -- it will likely come in the form of either only banning new products and/or bricking existing drones via firmware updates. If I were in your shoes I would still continue with the purchase...but be prepared in a worst-case scenario to either return it or potentially cease using it in 2030.

Better to refund before it gets to you rather than waste alot of money it’s safer to wait until after the hearing and if it passes you’ll be glad you waited but if it doesn’t you can just buy it after

Not concerned it will be banned however if it does my only thought would be…what about the ones who already have them? Will the app be banned etc. I mean if they ban them I don’t car I will still fly like some how or the government can but my drone back from me period

You should be concerned, because it's a real possibility. Of course the app would be banned. You won't be able to. DJI products have geofencing. They don't have to, and they won't buy it back from you. Although you could try to sue them. 👍

Agreed. You SHOULD be concerned...I've been doing research and frankly there is a lot going on and the nuance of this issue is complex, but at the end of the day I couldn't give a shit less about data being collected. My concerns lie solely with small business owners and volunteer outfits who have invested literally thousands of dollars into this technology that will be absolutely boned if this legislation passes. There's too much at stake for people like you and me. This is a big deal. I won't pretend to know your situation, but if not for the accessibility and capabilities of DJI technology, my business would be non-existent. I have plans b, c, and d to pivot to in the event this ban does happen...but ideally we stay the course and keep DJI alive in the United States because all three of my backup plans involve me taking steps backward in order to keep moving forward.

@@TheDroneGeek I am a big gun guy and there have been attacks on the 2nd amendment last 3 years. There are way too many legal hurdles for drones to be banned same thing with guns the rights kinda go hand in hand but in different context. I am 99% certain once it hits the senate floor it will be dead just like when they tried to ban tiktok. No fear ….

In reality, DJI drones are now one step further away from being banned in the US because China has agreed to remove sinking from it. The report just came out today.
