I just tried what you did with your dynamic mic, but I used the Rode PodMic USB. I tried the connecting the Mogami XLR to 1/4 inch but didn't work as well as your SM7dB. The audio was super low and when boosted in Audition, the noise floor was horrendous!!! My voice was fine, but that noise floor is...yikes!!!

Will it have long term effects on the battery of the transmitter?

To be fair, every 32 bit floating point recorder should be able to do this, not only the DJI Mic 2. The audio signal should come in super quiet, but because of the 32 bit you can lift it to regular levels without (much/any?) distortion. However, this will NOT power mics that require phantom power, but any dynamic mic should work fine. That being said, it's crazy impressive that this is possible and I'm looking forward to trying it out myself.

Have you tried to hook up the mic 2 transmitter to a mixer essentially recording audio from a board taking a Tascam or Zoom out of the equation?

This is really interesting. Are you running the db as a standard dynamic? or is the DJU mic able to somehow provide the phantom power? the booster requires?

I was about to pack up the SM7dB when I had the last attempt to plug directly into 3.5mm of the FX30 itself and to my surprise. It sounds perfectly fine.... I'm extremely confused because I am getting NOTHING when plugged into the 3.5mm jacks of both my DJI Mic 2, be it recorded locally or through the receiver, and by nothing I mean that I have to amplify disgustingly high to hear and for the noise floor to be louder than my own voice. I am now wondering if I have defective DJI Mic 2s, I bought literally on launch, are there manufacturing independencies? I doubt it... But basically, your DJI Mic 2 supplies phantom power to your Shure right? My camera does, but my Mic 2s do not seem to... Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks for the video, you inspired this purchase for me!

What kind of XLR to DJI-mic cable are you using? I was trying this out with a DJI 2 Mic, 32bit float and a XLR to TRS and it does not seem to pick up any audio, so I think, I might have bought the wrong cable :( Do you have any recommendations? Kind Regards Jørgen

Main question is this: can you monitor audio from your DAW if your dji mic 2 is recover is plugged into the iPad or iPhone as there is no audio out on them. Ie will the headphone jack and out jack monitor only from the mics, or will it monitor the usbc audio from the iPad? (Can it function as a sound card)

Hi Fredo! Firstly great video! I have a Mic 2 from my Pocket 3. I need two mics for interviews, but I was wondering if the receiver necessary (going to get the case instead)? Is the receiver mostly to use with cameras? I figured I didn't need the receiver and can just use the Pocket 3 as a receiver since I record on there. Just a little unclear if the receiver is something necessary to my setup.

As a Osmo Pocket 3 owner, I feel a little screwed that DJI doesn't sell the Mic 2 a single mic kit with the charging case. If you buy the single mic bundle, they give you a stupid little pouch and charging cable. Also, I wonder how many of the Mic 2's can connect to the Osmo Pocket 3 internally via bluetooth. Great video and I'm definitely getting the 2 mic set and I guess I'll have 3 mics all together. Weird and unthoughtful by DJI, but it is what it its I guess... What does the battery life look like when powering the Shure mic?

from what ive heard so far on a few different videos, the dji mic 2 sounds a bit muffled in the field. maybe thats the noise cancelling. Also, there was a lot of popping and clipping but the mic may have just been too close to your mouth. When plugged into the shure SM7B, did you have to do anything to the audio in post? Or do you just bring in the audio file and sync it to your video clip?

Hi Fredo. Firstly, awesome video. I bought my sm7db and shin mic2 kit. I am trying to monitor the signal from the dji mic receiver but I am unable to hear anything. I tried the same connection with my shure MV7 and that works. Is this suppose to happen. Could you elaborate on any changes you made to the DJI transmitter or receiver if you have made any. Holy F, how does it manage the phantom power and how's the battery in your use case? I need a recorder for my videomic NTG and 2 cameras but this DJI doesn't have timecode apparently and it's a needed feature. But it looks solid.

Hey Fredo, thank you for the video. I saw a few reviews, especially the ones by Curtis Judd and Wayne Recs that have made me think twice before going for the mic 2. In my opinion, the sound quality doesn't really stand out, but I'm thinking of getting a lav mic, which could probably allow for better sound. Did you test it with a lav mic as well?

Will it power the sm7b? I know the db has built in lifter so it’s easier to power that one.

Bro!! Been watching your content a few weeks now! You're the first to mention the DJI mic 2 release date for me, I am definitely going to be ordering mine today. I had the first version but returned them after a couple weeks when I filmed a friend's wedding and the lav miv popped out (but I popped back in right after thinking it was fine) and failed to record the audio, it sucked! thankfully I had a shotgun mic on my A74 which caught pretty decent audio which I was able to save in post. It is a weird quirk that those Mics have! Lesson learned! Anywho Keep up the great work! You are killing it right now and seeing your improvement over the past year is inspiring for folks like me who want to improve our content creating skills! Cheers!
