Great video. I've been playing around with my maschine lately and found that live sequencing is A LOT of fun. Been using maschine for a while but mostly for finger drumming. Anyway, I found that "the old school way"is probably my best alternative. I am a traktor user and found that when I sync the two midi clocks maschine tends to always drift from the tempo (it stays on beat but it kinda doesn't). Also because I am a cdj user the traktor midi clock follows the tempo of the cdjs and if I tap on the cue button for example (like every other dj does), then I need to restart the clocks in order to get everything in time. Then I setup maschine to follow a midi clock sent from the mixer (through a midi cable). I have the Behringer ddm 4000 and I was surprised how accurate that clock works. I need to set it up manually, but I can adjust the tempo to one decimal point, which makes it very accurate and then press play on the mixer which launches maschine with no problem. I am now looking for a way to set up tempo nudge on maschine and have tried running it as a vst in ableton but the latency is unbearable, so if any of you guys has any advice on that I would greatly appreciate it. If not I'll beat match it manually from the mixer itself and I would get used to it in time I suppose. Thanks in advance. :)

One of my favorite things about the Elektron drum machines is that they have pitch bend on all them. Often you can sync the tempo, but they'll need a lil nudge

Regarding the S4 & TR-8 sync : 1)If we connect Audio 10 midi out to Tr-8 midi in, is the midi connection stable like S4+Tr8 or does it fluctuate like DJM900 + Tr-8? 2) I have DJM 900 and i use it as a sound card, not sure what kind of difference are we talking about when we compare DJM900's midi out, S4's and Audio 10's. I beg you answer my question. As I have been looking for the answer for a while - My friend has got a tr8. We successfully midi OUT to his microKorg. With this we acheive triggering the korg via the tr8. BUT we are having problems after this. We can record a sequence from the korg using the tr8. But the main problem is that all the pads on tr8 have the bass stab on them. Which means we can't lay down certain drum sounds down without having the bass behind it We would like to be able to midi in a way that we can separate the drums and the bass in anyway. Even if it means muting some of the bass midi notes to leave some drum hits without the bass appearing behind it. Would appreciate a reply, thank you to anyone that can help

It did before but now when I set my Control Manager into Generic Midid, it does not give the choice of Tractor Control S4 ( Midi Output Port 0). So my TB-3 does not sync up with tractor...SAD

Ean and co, did you know that you can just bypass midi all together by hooking the TR8 up to Traktor via USB? The TR8 supports midi over USB, so you can make it a midi slave in exactly the same way as you recommend without needing a soundcard with a midi-out port on it. All you have to do differently is where you've made a generic midi device in Traktor for the S4, just send midi out to the TR8 instead once you've plugged it in via USB. (I am currently doing this in my setup and it works great)

Hey Ean golden ! I've tried using this 3rd method that u explained on this video to sync 2 kontrol s4 each one running in a different PC (windows) individually. I'm using one kontrol s4 as a master and the other one as slaves. I noticed that the signal is going to the slave perfectly, but the BPM on the slave won't be steady and it keeps bouncing not stopping. It looks like it will set equally but it just keeps bouncing. Do you know why is that happening ??

hi mate I have the traktor s8 and just got the Roland I have the USB cable plugged in and a midi in to Roland from traktors midi out, do I need any other cables ? I can't seem to get anything. I sync up the clocks etc and the r8 lights up and starts but no sound ?

Is there a way I can sync my PC with Traktor Pro, Kontrol S5, Roland Mx-1 and my Toraiz SP-16 together. No midi on the S5 but could the usb from my PC to the mx-1 work and use midi for the SP-16 on the mx-1. Any help would be appreciated.

What if the setup doesn't have a Midi I/O? I tried using the TR-8 over the USB-midi but it's getting conflicts with my 2nd deck. Same happens when I'm using the MX-1 and TR-8 on it connected. When adding the S4 MK2 into the setup and only using it for the Midi-Interface is an option but... pretty odd way. When using only the S4 MK2 in the setup and hook on the Aira Setup (MX-1, TR-8, TB-3, VT-3, System1) and using the midi-i/o it all seems to work. Might an external Midi I/O interface be the sollution????

you could get just a ho-hum cdj, as small as possible, and have a few tracks of 8th note clicks, 16th note clicks, whatever, and send it as an audio clock into your drum machine if it supports it. you could also advance your bass synth sequencers. You could have some clicks in a 4th channel of traktor and sync it automatically for that matter.

I saw the video about syncing ableton with traktor using 2 NI sound card and midi cable between them. Assume I'm using 2 PCs , 1 with ableton and 1 with traktor, will they work (synced) if I connect 2 usb-to-midi interface between them and sending midi clock??? midi out of the first interface into the midi in of the second... I wonder how I can simple get a midi Keyboard, conect with the analog synth (like pulse2) to play live. Tried your way, but I only hear sound when I push the trigger button on my synth (the mono synth in this case). Knowing the Midi Channel of each Synth, I still am not able to get play a sound out of my Midi Keyboard... Hi, I'm trying to set up the Generic MIDI mapping but don't see Traktor Kontrol S4 (MIDI output port o) in the Out-Port list (I only see None, All Ports, Traktor Virtual Output). I just tried updating Traktor as the About screen said I was on v2.5.0, which it still does even after upgrading to v2.7.3 through Service Centre. Traktor is working fine as I'm playing tracks through it, my TR-8 is working fine too, and I have the MIDI cable going out of the S4 and into the TR-8. Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Dear DJ TechTools and other viewers, I tried syncing Traktor on my windows PC with my Roland TR-8. Sadly the sound of the PC lags behind. Although the clock BPM over midi is pretty accurate, it comes in to late. The music from Traktor lags somewhere around 20-50ms behind. When i shift the timing of the deck just a little bit ahead of the master tempo in Traktor, the sound is flawless. But using this method for every song is a impractical solution. I tried using the PC as master clock as well as the TR-8 as master clock. In both cases i get the same result. Giving the clock a offset in Traktor makes the difference in milliseconds even bigger. Is there a way to solve this? Can i somehow give the Traktor clock a negative offset? Greetings, Christiaan

I have set everything correctly but am getting no sound from drum machine... also what about audio cables? do I need to go mix out of tr8s to line in and use a live deck?? confused...

Can this be done on a windows computer? All the videos or forums explaining how to sync them uses the traktor virtual output wich is not available on windows. But, is it possible using the s4 midi output? Or would you still need to get a third party program?

DJ TechTools ***** Hi Ean. My DJ set up is... macbook with traktor, an audio 2 interface, a xone 42 as my main mixer and anl X1 controller.... Can I sync a Roland Aira TR-8 to my Traktor's clock? is it possible with the audio 2 as my interface as theres no more room lol!!! My audio 2 goes from my USB in my mac into my 2 DJ tracks.... & the Xone 42 (Is a shit hot mixer vor any one looking for a cheap alternative to the 92) but it has no MIDI out.... It's a 4 track mixer & Im only using 2 with traktor and my X1... So I have a spare 2 chanels? but must I only do it the 'old school way' as you did forst in the video? It would be wicked if I could actually snyc it to traktor rather that just having it run seperatly through a channel and using its own clock for me to get in time with the mix, PLUS If I could incorporate that to be in sync wioth traktor, I imagine id be able to have the TB-3 or System 1 in the remaining chenel on the mixer, so then things could relly get exciting, especially in the clubs n parties over the summer lol... I was a stricly Vinyl Dj, and was one of those 'anti sync button/software' preachers you get... But then I progressed onto CDj's, and had a lot of fun and cool gigs with them, and then, (due to CDJS cost) I got myself an X1 & audio 2, but i told ,myself that it was only for getting to know my tunes and for mixing in my room, maybe a few online streams and recordings, but O wasnt going to even use traktor and the X! for gigging... But after using it at home, and realising how much fun and how much control I have over my tracks playing in the mix, I got well into it and now I usually just play out with my X1... I still use cd's sometimes and have never sold my vinyl so hopefully one day I cam do a decent techno set on vinyl... but anyway, for the meantime... Do you guys think you can help me... If you just picture you have my set up infront of you, how would you go about incorporating the TR-* into my Xone 42.... Remeber I have no MIDI outs on the mixer & no morte room for any thing on the Interface? but Im only using 2 of 4 channels? Hope I havnt go on to much so that you will just take a quick look at this message and then... on with hte next lol. I did this with USB Midi. I synced Denon-MC6000 on Traktor with Korg Electribe S mkII. (The Denon doesn't have midi out.) The Electribe's BPM is synced with Traktor's master clock.

Hi, I try the same connections like the Video but without Traktor. I want to connect my TR-8 just on my DJM 900 but no Signal comes on my Channel 1 of the Mixer. On the TR-8 I try the Phono, Mix Out and the Assignable Out but nothing's go. Does someone can help me please.....?
