i am absolutely living for this series. Thank you for your service to the retro gaming community by calling out this BS. I honestly hate what DKO is doing to people who just don't know about opening up consoles or just checking for quality control things that refurbishing is supposed to entail. As someone who likes to collect older consoles and other older tech, I like to open them up myself and give them a thorough cleaning and make sure everything looks good to go. Used to think that people could take pride in refurbishing something and people could trust that someone put in hard work to make sure a used product didn't necessarily have to mean poor condition with a little effort, cleaning, and some repairs. State of society we live in. Greed.

its amazing to me that they can watch Austin Evans dismantling the most jacked up and dirty PS3 super slim I've ever seen and still not acknowledge what they did, or more like what they didn't do. Anyone that's ever bought any console from them should 100% be refunded whatever they charge for "refurbishing" consoles.

The Good News is that if they get sued, they gotta give out free stuff. But The Bad News is that it's a high chance of them going out of business if they do get sued. Karma.

It's not that the law firm is looking to investigate, it's just that they caught wind of all this going on, so they figured they could cash in by filing a class action lawsuit. Be aware though, with something of this size, the amount each person gets would likely be pocket change at best, as they're not going to get enough once split between everyone for it to amount to much, especially after they take their cut.

While I am glad this is happening to put them in their place, but I have this feeling that because that investigation may require people to go into their shop to see what is being done, they may see all those people actually going through most of the console and opening them and doing "some" kind of cleaning inside which then may fall under what could be considered as "refurbished" in the judges eye, DKOldies may slip by with not much of a scratch.

Very curious how this case plays out in court. The defendants have to show that DKOLDIES did not want to remedy the situation by refurbishing their console, offering a refund, or replacing their console to put the consumer whole. I am not a fan of DKOLDIES I love when companies are held accountable and cases like this improve terms for consumers because it keeps others on their toes.

What I don't understand is the fact they don't really need to go out of their way to fix this issue. It's not like they need to hire a contractor to build some additional workspace, buy a bunch of extra equipment and tools, and add an entirely new department with staff to make it happen. You've got everything you need to refurbish these things. Just do the fucking work.

What specific claims does dk oldies make as far as their refurbishment procedure? Do they make specific claims? Or leave it vague and then every unhappy customer has their own idea of what refurbishing is supposed to mean? Refurbishing is probably a very subjective term and unless specified claims are made it may not hold up in court.
