Yes, you can set them up to display true horizontal range or actual distance and angle.

I have no experience with that scope and GPO's PR person stopped responding to me, so I stopped trying to get a hold of it.

@@josiahb55 To be clear: I am sure it is nothing personal. They could be busy or, given that most of their market is hunting, they could be not interested in having anything to do with me or they could be pissed that I took their UK rep to task on Instagram for saying stupid stuff. Either way, it is not personal for me and I am sufficiently busy that I am not hugely interested in finding out which it is.

I have the Optika LR here as well. I looked at it for a bit and it is very nice. It is next on my list for a thorough workup.

Optika LR and Delta are rather comparable. If I were to make a guess, they are likely made by the same OEM. Leica is a step up optically although Geovid R is not nearly as good as the HD-B form factor LRF binos from Leica. LRF performance seems to be rather comparable between the three.

Many people are discovering how nice "big eyes" binoculars really are especially for eye fatigue during extended glassing. Leica 15x56 LRF is indeed very nice. I have seen it and played with it briefly, but not enough to say anything especially authoritative about it.

@@DarkLordOfOptics I might pick one of these up then. So I don't buy it right before a new one is released, when does Leica release new binos of this type? Shot show in Jan? I do know an update to that particular bino is remote, as it's not in a "hot" category by any means so I'm not holding my breath. But still…buying after whatever big show Leica releases stuff would probably be a good idea.

@@dcarson I don't know if there is any real schedule to their new models. They do release stuff for SHOT oftentimes, but I have no real insight on whether this model is up for a replacement or not.

I asked the manufacturer. Havn't heard back yet. Delta generally does a ten year warranty, but since this one has electronics, I figured I should check.

@@comloz Vortex does have a lifetime warranty. Personally, I think 10 years is sufficient, but that's a personal choice.

That's very true, but if we always wait for something better just around the corner, we never get to us anything. I use LRF all the time, so it is a clear benefit for me to have it integrated into the binocular. Less stuff to carry. It still has to be a good binocular though.

What about Europe ?

In Europe, Delta has a good support network since they are in Europe.

It is a valid argument. The most basic counter argument to that is that if noone ever gives a chance to smaller companies trying to break into the US market, the more established players will be resting on their laurels. There is precedent for that. In Delta's case, they have been around for quite a while in Europe and there is plenty of track record of them taking care of their customers quite well. If something goes badly with a Delta product, they will take care of you. A company with large dedicated presence in the US might do it faster though. A couple of times I know someone had to get service from Delta it was pretty reasonable by the standards of Euro companies. With all that, once in a while I wonder if I should start a US-based maintenance and repair center for smaller offshore companies. Maybe if I ever lose my dayjob I will do just that.
