Your videos are very helpful. Please make a video on selection of emulsifier.

Hi Gopal, that is an entire subject, not a video. There are so many reasons why different emulsifiers get selected and I honestly could not show this with any credibility in a 15 minute video. Please email us to find out about our training programs to learn this in the detail it deserves: info@personalcarescience.com.au or visit personalcarescience.com.au Happy formulating!

They work well as long as their pH is low - otherwise they don't work at all, they get neutralised to their salt form! Please watch this video for more information: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mZaTZrye35atfn0.html

I love your videos. Is there any such thing as a soap that foams but isn’t made with lye or other harsh chemicals. I’ve read that soaps made with lye essentially don’t contain lye because the process of making soap converts the lye into something else and I’m okay with that explanation but I’m intrigued to know if there is another way that makes foaming soap without a harsh chemical start.

Depends what you call 'soap' - please let me explain: 'soap' is chemically used to describe the substance that forms from a saponification process, which is as you've described, and no, its not lye anymore but the finished product is a pH of 9.5 - 10 so its quite harsh on the skin. BUT - to a consumer, 'soap' generally covers any product they use that comes in a bar form that foams - and there are some great, mild, lower pH (around 5.5 - 6.5) syndet soaps that can be created using surfactant materials that set into a bar form. I hope that helps explain it - so yes, syndet soaps can be made that have a skin compatible pH but anytime a saponification process is used, the product is no longer lye but still has a very high pH.

Thank you very much. Is Retin A really worth using for anti-aging? My skin hates it ☹️

Vitamin A has great clinical data but some skin types can't tolerate it - mine can't either. There are plenty of other great actives that may not have the same sort of reaction for you - look for the clinical efficacy data to choose the best actives for the required performance.

Love this type of videos ! I'm wondering where the Bakuchiol (Sytenol® A by Sytheon Ltd.) falls in the spectrum? I read that the penetration was better in combination with Dimethyl Isosorbide and maybe with osmolytes (glycols)? Can lipoaminoacids (Sepilift® DPHP, Voluform®, Timecode® and Sepiwhite® MSH by SEPPIC for example) be compared to peptides in their mode of penetration? Finally, to what level do Phenylethyl Resorcinol (Symwhite® 377 by Vigon, Promacare® PS by Uniproma Chemical, and so on.), Cetyl Tranexamate HCl (TXC™) and Kojic Dipalmitate (PromaCare® KDP by Uniproma Chemical) penetrate into the skin? All these ingredients are my new toys of the moment...
