I absolutely LOVE your videos. You have such great content. My husband (also a motorcycle guy 🙂) and I are thinking of retiring somewhere in Clark County. So far Washougal and Ridgefield are top on our list but still researching. We have lived in the Bellevue area for almost 25 years and thinking of heading south. Visited last month and really liked the area a lot. We want to make a couple of more visits out there to really get a feel for the area. I will definitely reach out to you if we think Clark County is where we want to be for retirement. You come across very sincere, genuine and very upfront with pros and cons and as a former east coast gal, I really, really appreciate that!

Your videos helped us so much! We are 1 year in and love it so much. Settled in Ridgefield, and fitting in more and more everyday. We feel like survivors of CA. We will be in touch soon as our family is starting to look at property here now too. Thanks Hal!

Another great video. We have looked in several states Nevada, Texas, etc but when Lynn and I came up in the fall, we knew instantly this is the place we want to be for our retirement. It's our goal and we are gonna visit often for next 3 years until we are ready to retire. To those like us, it's never too early to start looking.

@ Mike: I've lived in Nevada for several years (Incline Village & Zephyr Heights in Tahoe, and now in Reno). While Nevada has a lot going for it, there are some things I don't like. You really have to enjoy a dry climate. Reno is high desert, and it gets pretty hot in the summer, though not nearly as much as Las Vegas. Lake Tahoe is Alpine with four seasons, but with climate change, the summers are definitely getting hotter! Traffic in Reno-Tahoe is increasing, especially with a steady stream of visitors. The cost of living has exploded. I don't recall the median cost of a home, but I saw a 350 sq studio apartment advertised for $1,400/month. Sticker shock since Reno and even Tahoe used to be relatively inexpensive. After several visits to the PNW (and two months in Kitsap County), I'm sold! The weather and outdoor activities make it, in my opinion, one of the most desirable places in the country. I'm not a foodie, so can't help you there, except Reno has some excellent Asian restaurants.

Thanks for this video. I'm so sick of spending 50% of my income on rent here in LA. Vancouver looks geat and just my speed right now.

I needed this video…my husband and I moved to Oregon in 2020 from Tennessee and we are still renting and trying to figure out our space and community. I work from home, so struggling with finding friends

Doesn’t the high sales tax negate the no income tax? I can’t decide between Portland or Vancouver

Portland may suck to natives, traffic, homeless, etc. But if looking from outside Portland has tons of choices in foods, breweries plus great mass transit.

Just a question have you looked around like Spokane County or other areas in the eastside of Washington ? It actually really nice over there as well it is a little drier climate than over by Seattle, and even Vancouver area plus Bloomsday a lot of people come from all over the country for that and hoop fest and of course pig out in the park and it’s also close to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho which is actually not too bad of an area either I’m just saying if you haven’t you should at least check it out have a nice day and godspeed

Do you help people relocate that want to rent? I have no idea where to look in Vancouver and my boyfriend and I don’t have the luxury to come up and look as of right now. We are in California for reference!

Vancouver, WA getting worse and worse along the riverfront. The influx of homeless tents from Portland is bad!

You're worried about a natural disaster in CA? Ever heard the PNW subduction zone?

Haha yea, we've talked about it on the channel a few times. The difference to us is that CA has water issues & more people so in a natural disaster we like our odds here better. I grew up very close the San Andreas fault and several other fault lines. The subduction zone is at least 100 miles from Vancouver. That's why I feel better about the SW WA area than Southern California personally.
