Many of you are unaccustomed to putting objects in your abdomen area. And I wanted to give you a little bit more information that will help support you on what to do and what not to do with the Hip Hook.
Your abdominal organs are strood, in this area. And many people are cautious or afraid of putting pressure on them. And in the development of this product, I consulted general surgeons, gastroenterologists and many other practitioners to really determine if there were any risks associated with putting pressure here. And many of them explained to me in surgery or even in manipulation of these organs, they move, they're super slippery. When you put pressure on the abdomen, it actually shifts them out of place. So the worry around whether I'm going to harm an organ, or put pressure on the organ is really unfounded concern.
Second, when we're placing the hip hook right next to the bone, so here's our pelvic bone. And really all that's here is muscle. If there was a section of the large intestine that happened to be close to that area, which is unlikely. As soon as you put pressure here, it would slip out of the way.
When you're placing the hip hook, there are a couple things that you might notice as sensations that may give you some alarm, and there's a couple things that you want to pay attention to.
One is nerves, and one is blood vessels. If you put pressure on a nerve, you will feel a numbing sensation, it might be in the area where you're pressing or could be down in front of your thigh. If you experienced that, simply move the hip hook out of the way, having a nerve being pressed on for a short period of time is not going to harm a nerve, it happens all the time in everyday life. Second, if you put pressure on a blood vessel, you may feel like your leg is falling asleep, or you might feel a throbbing sensation. If you notice that, move the hip hook, it could be as much as just moving it a millimeter to get off of that nerve or blood vessel.
There's a certain part of our abdomen where there are a lot more nerves and blood vessels that you might encounter. So if you do end up exploring this area, you may want to really tune in to what your body is experiencing.
Where is this area. When you go to bend your hip, and you have this crease here, it's a diagonal crease. This is that same area where a lot of those nerves and blood vessels are located. So if you're placing the hip hook lower down into this area, that's where you're going to have to be a little bit more cautious.
If you keep the hip hook a bit higher closer to the bone, you will remain clear from most of the nerves and blood vessels. However there is the femoral nerve that is close to the iliacus. And again, if you end up putting pressure on that and you feel that numbness, just move the hip hook a smidge!

it's hard to see exactly where you're pointing to (on your hip area) when you're wearing all black. I bought the hip hook but I don't really know the correct placement, even after watching this video

Here there, this video is more of an informational video and less of an instructional video on how to use the Hip Hook. Have you seen the many videos on our playlists? We have many others that are more instructional in nature to guide you step-by-step to using the hip flexor release tool.

It may be helpful to apply some massage oil on that region to help induce relaxsation and to desensitise the area to touch.

I think putting a small yellow circle on the ASIS, on the umbilicus, and/or or a yellow stripe on the inguinal area and/or over the pubic ramus would give a a better sense of position on the video. I just got the hip hook and look forward to using it, but I am watching a lot of your videos to feel more confident about how to best use it.

I get pain on hip flexion in the inguinal area, could the hip hook help with this?

The Hip Hook might be able to help you out. Tight hip flexors can contribute to issues in the groin area. It will be important, however, to check with your healthcare practitioner first before using the Hip Hook. Use of the Hip Hook would likely not be advisable if the pain was coming from an inguinal hernia.

I had a kidney transplant 4 years ago on my right lower quadrant of my abdomen. My hip pain is also on the right side. Would you say this isn't for someone who had a kidney transplant?

That is a question best answered by your doctor. So you and they are clear, the area where the Hip Hook (now called the Mark) is used is far away from where your kidneys are, but you should clear your use of the product with them before you buy and use it to apply pressure to release the hip flexors.
