In Episode 1670, Sean Woodley and Es Baraheni (Forbes, CEBL, Raptors Republic) break down the Toronto Raptors roster as it's currently constructed and work to determine just how many shooting guards the team currently has on its roster. We know guys like Scottie Barnes, Jakob Poeltl, Kelly Olynyk, Jonathan Mogbo and Chris Boucher aren't shooting guards, but is there a case that literally everyone else on the roster is -- or at least has some shooting guard tendencies? There sure is! Jamal Shead is 1,000% a point guard, excellent game manager,, relentless defender, and two years from now may be considered the Raptors best pick in this draft. Looking forward to Summer League.

technically if a player is .75 a shooting gaurd he is also 0.25 not a shooting gaurd so the math is still off.

@@LockedOnRaptors i think you have to realize as i said, masai and darko both told you the raptors are in a 3-4 year rebuild. the temple signing tells you this along with the 4 rookies they took in draft. they developing and basically telling scottie barnes if he wants playoffs, he gonna have to turn into prime lebron james in next 3 months to get the raptors to playoffs next season. embrace the rebuild and the high picks coming to raptors next 3-4 years. they gonna give davion mitchell run like malachi flynn to see if he can be a back up pg with increased play time and responsibility off bench to see if he is worth resigning. same with ochai. and the rookies will get their runs also off the bench. the only thing you can expect now is a bruce brown trade that will bring in a pick and filler, and a boucher trade that will bring in a 2nd round pick and filler. waiting for derozan and ingram to come off the board before they can move boucher and brown basically.

Ever since all the guys from the championship left, it feels like we now decide the type of player we like and then try to fill up the roster with as many guys that fit that description as possible. Then we struggle during the season cause we just have a bunch of players that all do the same thing and we're easy to pick apart and exploit.

Shooting guard is the spot we don't have a solidified starter so we try out a bunch to find a gem

Roster today will be very much different when training camp opens. Lets see what some of these new Raps do in summer league.

Sure, top to bottom the roster is unbalanced (the Koloko thing hurt more than people realize, I think, having him behind Jak would've helped a lot) but a starting five of (as it stands) Quick-Dick-RJ-Scottie-Jak followed by Mitchell-JaKobe-Brown-Mogbo-Kelly is fine. Too many shooting guards at the end of the bench is not something you use draft capital to fix, I don't think.

barrett has forward skills but has his biggest advantage as a SG because of his size. He shouldn't be in the dunker spot. that seems like a waste.

They can be as effective as DeRozan/ Wiggins has been as a 3. If we consider Og, HerbJones and scottie 3/4's then there's a chance that 6'5-6'6 will be disadvantaged

No, only for a short time mitchell is taking the starting job, and Snead is back up there moving Quickly to SG. He's not a defensive stud who can cover the other teams' top point guards . They will switch and Quickly can still bring it up on offense, but on the other end, his D is rubish

lol I will eat a shoe on the podcast if mitchell ever gets a sustained run as the starting point guard while Quickley is healthy. there is absolutely no way.
