If you like Bill Bailey, you might enjoy the very offbeat sitcom, 'Black Books' he did between 2000 and 2004 with Dylan Moran and Tamsin Grieg. Moran wrote it with several other writers including Graham Lineham, who had also contributed to 'The IT Crowd' and 'Father Ted'. Altogether, three really unique and very funny British tv sitcoms.

Away from standup, Bill took part in “Strictly Come Dancing” (or “Strictly” - its nickname) which is our version of “Dancing With The Stars” and he was partnered with Oti Mabuse and won! He and Oti dancing to “Rapper’s Delight” and Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” (yes, really), are two clips that are worth a look as they’re brilliant; especially the former.

A "session" musician is an elite mercenary that can do anything that is demanded of them. They may not look presentable, but they can play anything that is put in front of them within seconds. They are the ultimate musical professionals - often very expensive, but they never make mistakes - saving valuable studio time and money

the most famous example of session musicians is Booker T and the MGs Booker T came to the studio and the MGs were in fact the 'house band' later known as 3 of the members of the Blues Brothers band and then went on to high places in the industry

Bill Bailey lives about a mile and a half from me and I sometimes see him in a local cafe, the Argos Laminated Book of Dreams sketch is a classic.

Talking about the bush era. We had a cartoon sketch show called 2DTV which was absolutely brilliant. It mostly joked about Bush, Posh and Becks, the Royals and other british celebs of the time. Worth checking that one out.

The 'are you a member of a terrorist organisation' is a stratigically brilliant question. Everyone is suppossed to say No, that's the point of it. Then if you are caught trying to do something nefarious they have a guaranteed conviction of lying to immigation which is a much lower legal standard for procecution and allows someone to be held in prison for a sentence while the more challenging terrorist case is investigated and built.

Ah, yeah, I just posted similar regarding security clearance. A while back I needed security clearance (here in the UK), and one of the first questions was "Are you - or have you ever been - a member of a terrorist organisation". We laughed, but the reason is the same as you mention - if you lie on the security form, it's a fast-track to jail.

Love those tests. Was only long haired male on flight from Gran Canaria last year. Everyone else went past the security without any question. They saw me. Oh boy. Every drug test they could figure was on me. I was about to say, that if they wanted to check my beehind it better be a female person. Sadly they didn't go that far. But it was lots of fun for me to see their faces when they did not get any traces of drugs from person who hates drugs.

This is absolutely fantastic.. I've noticed a few other Americans doing similar but your enthusiasm shines through. I'm certain you could make friends through this and travel to see some football and UK culture. People love it that you like our culture as it kind of validates our lives. 😊 As fascinating is that so many Americans are doing the same. Including a gang of rappers Cartier family?. Says to me that right across political and racial divides, many are searching for more adventurous comedy and less wokeness. Keep up the great work. Something about this genre of Americans Reacting to.. can only be good for the future. Maybe shedule some live ones? We could chip in with background info. Specially football chants and musical heritage.

A while back, I was doing a job which required me to have top level computer security clearance, here in the UK. One of the first questions on the form was "Are you, or have you ever been, a member of a terrorist organisation". It's not quite as daft as it appears - if they find out you've lied, they can quickly enprison you.

why in the world of F*ck did Bill Bailey think "I know what I will do on my US Talk show set, a joke about Fox hunting, a totally UK -centric type of Hunting that most Americans have 0 idea about and are likely to confuse with some form of Game or Deer Hunting, " Seriously wtf was he thinking? There is literally no comparable context in the US and no way of explaining the context without getting into the class system, the Blood Rituals involved, the disputes over public , private and land rights and so called Hunt right of way, the 10-20 horse back riders, all the support staff usually in vehicles of some type, the Blood Hounds and how they are trained and the history of opposition (usually working and lower middle class opposition) Many US folks probably just think he is trying to mess with "Chuck" and "Bobby's" Deer hunt and are probably thinking "why would you do that Buddy? you Tryin'a get shot or somethin?" They are NOT the same thing Honestly that was one of the strangest Joke choices I have seen from a Comedian on foreign soil, and then finish it off with DnB track...again something which 99.9999999999999999999999999999% of Americans have no idea what it is (bit different now but back then ...no chance) I mean all things considered he did pretty well, but what was he thinking
