I second your recommendation for Völuspá. We saw Einar sing this at his concert at Borgholm Castle on Öland in Sweden this summer and it was something that we'll never forget.

Their music really touches you deeply, I've been in love with them for years, I think it's the band I've listened to the most in the last 10 years, truly a journey. I hope to be able to see them live one day, unfortunately so far they have only come to Italy twice and I have never managed to organize myself for a day off, going home at 3 in the morning is not very practical, however the hope is the last to die

Thank You for a great reaction. Sounds like your heart might need the song Andvevarljod by Wardruna. And they have English captions on all their songs. Keep up the good work my man

As long as you're searching for it, becoming awake is something that will happen. Don't go too fast though, its a layered affair with each layer being something you'd need to adapt your mind to.

Solringen is a masterpiece. Mr Wolff, i recognize all the feelings you describe, i'm in that point too. It's really difficult to describe, I feel like I'm rediscovering something that always have been there and now is beginning to come to surface... All the best for you man, and thanks for such a primary and honest reaction. Words don't come easy when you're shocked.

"These songs and traditions have now mostly passed into oblivion. New songs might wake them [Elves] once again." I'm 35 years old and a child-like feeling wants this to be so damn true. Of all these wonderful songs, give us one to harken back the times where it finally brings forth what we've once lost. Songs like this and others make me sleep so good.

I discovered Wardruna one day i was talking with my mum about History and musicians trying to uncover the past and traditions. I was stunned by Helvegen... this is maybe 10, 12 years ago? I highly recomend you that song. Another song I love for some reason is Ansur.

Wardruna is the real thing, they among other bands like Heilung definitely will have an effect on your life. Their catalog is wide and deep and Einar Selvik has worked with other bands to make some amazing music also. Danheim and Skald do some great work in the same genre.

I took my daughter to see Wardruna at Red Rocks. It was truly a spiritual experience and my daughter was overjoyed when they played Solringen, which we weren't expecting but it's her favorite and one of mine too. So wonderful to see you experiencing what so many of us have while listening to Wardruna and Heilung. To call them bands is almost an insult. They're more like modern day shamans.

I love seeing people discover these bands, I discovered them (Wardruna first, then Heilung, then others in the genre) around 2016, and having already been a little bit of a norse nerd, they spoke to me profoundly! My recommendations for Wardruna are Kvitravn -incredible music video as well, easily on par or even better than the video for Lyfjaberg, and second is Andvevarljod. Andvevarljod has an unofficial music video, but honestly I much more recommend just listening to the music alone, it's the perfect song to just close your eyes to. The official video on the Wardruna channel just has the album art, the song is 10 minutes long, and is an absolute journey, HIGHLY recommended! I'd advise you read the translated lyrics before hand just to get an idea, then sit back and just experience. For context, and also this might have something to do with the deep feelings that we have around this music, let me just talk a bit about the culture that this genre of music is based on. The Norns, a big part of the song Andvevarljod, are maidens who spin fate like a tapestry on a loom. The Norse believed that all our lives were set by fate, that we are born at a time, and die at a time. Each life is an individual thread, think modern physics, or like Donnie Darko, "world lines". The dancing of those threads together creates the tapestry that is our lives and history. Many would at first think that the idea that your fate is set would mean there's no point in fighting against it, but to the Norse, this meant precisely the opposite, that there's no reason NOT to fight against it. "There are better choices than to lose heart for a man who is eager of journey. One day, my life was already shaped, and all my life made." -Skírnismál We can't possibly know what parts of our life are in our control, and what isn't. This doesn't matter though, our highest purpose as people is to strive to be everything we have the potential to be. For example, in the song "Helvegen", some lines from the words of Odin are included at the end, translated; "Cattle die, kinsmen die, so too will you die; but the fair fame never dies of him who has earned it" "Cattle die, kinsmen die, so too will you die; I know one thing that never dies, the reputation of each one dead." What this means to say is that the worst thing we could do for ourselves is to live in fear, because fear leads to inaction, and inaction leads to a doomed fate, a wasted life, one where you avoided your potential out of self-preservation, yet this was futile because everything dies anyway. A life worth living isn't one where you survived for a really long time then died quietly, having successfully avoided your challenges and anxieties, having never really had an impact on others, having never lived up to what you could have been. A good life is one where you faced your fate head on, no matter what it was, with the bravery and determination that inspires those who witnessed you to sing songs about your life. Not to go to Hel, the land of mist and fog, to be lost and forgotten, but to live on into eternity in the defiant roars of those who cherish your memory and sing your saga. The wisdom within is the knowledge that today, just as much as any other time despite our common fears, the stakes are exactly the same. We either live our lives as courageously as we can, and we might succeed or fail at our goals, or we don't take the chance, and we definitely just fail. It's incredibly profound to come to that realization, in a modern world that feels like it screams at us to not be ourselves, to just shut up and live our short boring lives in silence and isolation, that there's nothing to lose and everything to gain by pursuing your dream of the person you yearn to be. That's the lesson that Wardruna reminds me of when I hear them. The lesson that Heilung reminds me of is that no matter how far we branch out, no matter how different the leaves from the fruit, when we search back and follow our roots, we can feel it in our bones and can't deny that we all sprouted from the same seed. If anyone actually read this, thank you!

Yep, this kind of music hits deep. It's like on one hand it's super calmimg and relaxing, on the other it's intense and empowering. Btw, the red-haired singer to the left, Lindy Fay-Hella, did a great collab with Faun on the song "Galdra", you might wanna check that out too.

"Your song stirs something deep within Like chords pulling straight from memory I can’t find the words, they still remain veiled" Wardruna - Gra Always when listening to Wardruna it feels like it's a music/song I heard in a dream long ago that I didn't even remember (or in a past life if you believe in such things). And even though I know in my heart that I heard it before my head doesn't remember when or how... A little bit like a déjà vu but much much stronger because it engulfes your mind, your soul and your body all at once. At least that is like it feels for me...

This music makes you close your eyes and take a look inside of yourself. I recently stumbled upon Kalandra, I don't know if they have something to do with Wardruna , or Aurora, or not but I enjoyed it a lot. I know only the song 'the Waiting game', the video and music were fantastic... I'm definitely gonna dive deeper into this nordic music. Totally new territories for me to explore...
