I got this Samick bass from the local pawn shop. Put some flats on it and recorded a short demo!
What do you think? Do you know anything about this type of Samick bass? I can't find a serial number or anything to tell it's age.

The Samick company (along with Cort) are the companies that make almost every bass out there Squier included.

Really nice tone. With the go e all all way open I miss a bit of fatness, but even with real P-Basses you can have to handle with this from my one to another bass I believe

I changed my squier affinity precision for a samick like this one, and I do not regret it at all. The squier was plywood, with a very cheap component and made noise, while the samick is made of a single piece of wood (as far as i can see), even has a more robust bridge. The only bad thing is the weight

Yeah, mine is also pretty heavy 🪨🪨 But other than that, great sounding bass!

Both basses are body and neck attached by 4 screws. Squier does not use plywood. instead the body is made from popular, basswood, alder or ash. The necks are maple, with either rosewood, or maple fingerboard.

@@grantkoeller8911 I opened it and the laminate is clearly visible. some of the squiers from the end of the 90s that sell as good, are from playwood, maybe you got a good one, but squier is dedicated to making cheap instruments, and you pay more for the brand and design than for quality

I have one also. YB-410pw is the "powder white" mine is black with black bridge and tuners etc. But these are like pre Millennium era basses as far as I know.. Also I can't get past 4 seconds in this video ever.

Nice tone.. I saw one in an auction at Japan, but Samick wording is cursive.. you think its same? How would u compare this to real P bass tone wise and playability/feel?
@BassenmetBoris
@BassenmetBoris 6 жыл бұрын
Can be the same, I'm not a Samich expert. Couldn't even find much info about this bass. I like the feel and playability of the bass altough it feels a little cheap. Tone is great, but the bass is pretty heavy!

@Garegh62 Should have been clearer about that, sorry... The knobs and tuners feel cheap (because they are). The playabillity of the bass is great, it feels good in my hands. Can't tell you about the weight because I don't know and the bass is stored somewhere else.
