I am a NZF member yet there is still a little green in me. There is nice chunk of maori in there to and i still have a love affair with nature. Have we tapped out Geo-Thermal and Hydro? I guess there is no return on investment as there would be for oil, gas and coal. Fair amount of profit for the international and large investors. What is the primary purpose of harvesting mineral resources that could be beneficial to the population? Electricity production? Will the price of electricity for industry or domestic get any cheaper for all kiwis or Black Gold for international interests. Sold back to kiwis at huge profits. Increase the buy back rate for kiwis producing power, encourage domestic installations financially. I live in Wellington, one of, if not the windiest city in the world and yet there are no domestic wind generation initiatives available.

Pragmatic is not quite the right word - Shane looked uneducated and lost his morning on Breakfast. Chloe schooled him on solar and on what kind of coal we extract and he only retaliated with personal attacks and ridicule. How can anyone take Shane seriously after that?

@@Dlweta57 solar panels come with a 25 year warranty to still put out 80% of their rated capacity - the oldest solar array in operation is in Germany generating electricity since 1976. Once the panels are stuffed you can recycle them - can’t say that about coal or gas. As of today it is the cheapest way to generate electricity. Nothing else comes close.

@@badchefi oh I agree... but unless you have a quality storage/battery system, power generation is inconsistent due to how many lumens are available at any given time, there fore making them unsustainable in the long term, the other issue is size and space required per unit vs wattage output, or kwh
