This is definitely a hyper nerfed version of Dr Fate but tbh. It would actually make more sense if he did nothing the whole movie until the demon arrived. That's normally what he does. He sits on the sideline until a threat appears he actually is needed for. So the movie would basically be. He observes Black Adam from afar and then solos the demon

A few mistakes: - Dr Fate is one of the most powerful members of the Justice League, he wouldn't go down like that; - Dr Fate doesn't just take his helmet on and off like that, - Technically Kent has one personality and Dr Fate has another, Kent Nelson is basically asleep on inside a room while Dr Fate is active. - Kent has no powers without the helmet on (depending on the story)

Depends. In some versions, Kent Nelson is possibly one of the strongest Doctor Fates because he either has the most sway on Nabu's decisions than any other host, or he just has full control as Dr. Fate.

One correction though. Kent DOES have a few powers without the helmet, such as telekinesis for instance, but he isn't anything more than a budget Constantine until he puts the helm on.

I really hope they bring Pierce back as Dr Fate. He did a great job with what was given to him. Defnitely nerfed in this movie but if they do him properly, he could be deadly

⁠ dr fates powers are amplified by its user magical prowess. If the user dies it will simply find a new owner. It can be seen when fate had control over zatanna (she was in a dire situation forcing her to use the helmet) and gave her up to take over her father(who made a deal with the helmet to take her place), a much more powerful vessel. I’m surprised they didn’t make this clearer but once you put on that helmet you no longer have control of your body or yourself you are at the mercy of Nabu.

They nerfed the shit out of him but goddamn did they do him justice in terms of visual effects. Every scene with Fate or Kent was just really engaging and look awesome, I really enjoyed all the super-characters in this movie and wouldve loved to see a JSA movie with all of them; Very fun film.

I like to think that Kent holds himself back voluntarily so the new generation can have some spotlight. We can clearly see he has a dying wish but refuses to do so until he feels another hero can carry his burden, hence by unleashing Adam he frees himself as well.

U know wuts kinda surprising is that technically the movie version of Dr Fate overloaded him w/ abilities cuz in the comics he’s just teleports in w/ an Ankh and then zaps ppl w/ raw power unlike Zatanna and Constantine who actually get creative. In the comics the champions of Shazam r technically ranked above Dr Fate in terms of combat potential. He isnt underpowered per say but it does seem Kent Nelson has more control over Nabu so he’s a bit pacified. Nabu in comics is like a righteous overseer of Order and adamantly refuses to help when he thinks he isn’t needed

That's probably because Zatanna and Constantine are sorcerers which means they can get creative with the way they use their magic..However Dr Fate is lord of order so he utilise a very raw form of magic that is extremely potent but ofcourse not as creative like Zatanna or even like Dr Strange...But I don't think the champions of shazam have more combat potential than Dr Fate simply because Dr Fate just scales infinitely higher than most characters in fact he's closer to Spectre than he is to Shazam..

@@NJ0711 I don’t think it depends on the form of magic (Lords of Chaos are very creative too in terms of sadistic use of magic), I think that lack of creativity matches perfectly Nabu’s personality in comics: he has a very schematic view on things and wants to solve problems in the fastest way.

I don't know what's worse, because nerfing him kind of makes sense but what doesn't is him being able to use his powers without the helmet. For non-comic readers that helmet is the source of his power - if it's removed he isn't remotely close to the level of power he has with it on... So as a fan of the character him taking it off every chance he got was a problem...

As I understand it (based on the character in comics), Kent Nelson does have some magic abilities -- not top-notch, but basic stuff like teleportation, phasing through solid matter, etc. -- even when he's not wearing the helmet. Putting the helmet on, however, ramps up his power unimaginably, to the point that becomes the single most powerful sorcerer (or darn close to it) in the DC universe. But, to be sure, him constantly taking off his helmet in the movie (to the point that it was starting to annoy me) was undoubtedly a bow to Brosnan, allowing "him" to appear as often as possible.

The biggest crime of this movie was that Nabu wasn't there. Nor that Nabu, Hawkman and Black Adam knew eachother from ancient egypt. The Rock was more concerned with making himself look big and strong than telling a compelling story.

I am actually really upset with this Dr. Fate. Sure, the acting, top notch. The graphics and powers, awesome. But the entire point of Fate is that the person wearing the helmet is NOT Dr. Fate. The helmet is a vessel for the real doc, and whoever wears it gives up control of themselves and their body to allow such a powerful force of good to be in the world. Those scenes where they just slip the helmet on and off, those would never happen, cause Fate never knew when or if someone would put the helmet back on, and if something happened that he could have stopped, and wasn't able to, he would never forgive himself. Plus, they nerfed him so hard😭

Since they STUPIDLY killed him off, we need a “Fate & Hawkman” prequel showing how these 2 became such friends b/c of the battles they fought together. Just leave out the rest of the Justice Society (we don’t need to see another DCU super team flick), and do a Fate/Hawkman movie w/maybe a cameo or two.

I know very little about Dr. Fate. but after the movie I can see the potential of this "superhero" character. It's a shame it ended the way it did. Maybe they felt he's too close to Dr. Strange and there wouldn't be any movie fanbase for the character.

Dr fate was created first in the comics. strange was introduced in live action earlier than fate but that's not to say fate won't have any fanbase. everybody liked his character in this movie. if he gets to star in his own solo movie then I'd say he'll have more fanbase than strange

Fate can never take off his helmet. That's the whole point. Nabby boy is INSIDE the helmet itself, take off the helmet and he has no power. Pierce did a great job, but he was severely nerfed and they did his character a huge injustice. Also again, they also took the helmet off...you can't do that... They could have done the glowing white eyes too, dunno why they didn't

Question: Why did Doctor Fate only contact Black Adam when the fight started? He could have freed Teth Adam before he challenged Sabrac. Also: If he needed back-up, then there are other DC Superheroes that he can request for assistance

Well in fact he can actually solo beat them all without any help just the director nerf him so hard and yet its not his movie after all so its not his time to shine XD

The real reason most film/anime mcs always have plot armor. If this movie is called Dr Fate, it will be a different story.
