Harry H. Corbett is masterful. He and Peter Butterworth played well off each other, too bad the pairing was not repeated in another film...

I always wondered what it was that was meant to be so horrible when they looked over the desk and saw what was down there! I mean obviously it was Doctor Pertwee, after Oddbod Junior was meant to have killed him, but I always wonder how Pertwee was meant to have looked when the Sergeant and Slowbottom noticed him dead.

@@jeffstone2136 He had a long career, although later on he didn't seem to have much luck. He was in a lot of unsuccessful programs, a lot of his best performances are in B&W so don't get remembered. He's also not always easy to recognise being able to vanish into the character, more so in drama, and you don't really register it's him. A good case in point is 'The Moles' from 'Tails of the Unexpected'

There's also an excellent nod to Pertwee's Doctor in an episode of The Navy Lark: "I saw this film once about a chap called Dr No." "Doctor who?" "No, not him. This was a good actor."

If Oddbod is actually a form of early apeman, he would have been dead for more than merely five hundred years, and up to something like ten thousand years!

It's Sergeant Bung who says 500 years. The Doctor just doesn't correct him. Other than that is everything else scientifically accurate? though.

TBH much as I like Sid, I think Screaming works better with Corbett playing it (relatively) straight, than it would have done with Sid guffawing away.
@russelltofts36732 жыл бұрын
The part was originally written for Sid James, hence why the character is called Sydney Bung. (Sid often played characters called Sid.)
